Hi there :D

Newb here, trying to learn the ropes.

Jayden just nods and walks along with her. He doesn't say anything knowing she wouldn't be able to reply just yet.

Eglantine looks around as they walk back to camp, glancing at him on occasion. She noted that he never talked much about himself, which was interesting. Most Broms enjoyed blabbing about their lives and how great they were at fighting and other such stuff.

Jayden blinks. "No reason to be sorry, but that's all right. I can walk back with you; I was heading there anyways."

Eglantine blinks at the offer then smiles. "Oh, well thanks." She lets him read it before putting it in her sack, deciding writing and walking was too difficult a task.
Jayden glances at the paper and then back at her. "There has to be genetics involved. Whole family lines being able to shift is proof in itself." He nods at her, "Not sure how it'd work though. I don't know a lot of biology."

Eglantine nods and looks up at the sky. She then writes: "Of course, sorry." She kicks at the ground. "I should...be getting back to camp. I'm sure someone's needing a patrol or something..."
Jayden nods. "I bet. Wouldn't be surprised if there were more we don't know about." He rubs the back of his neck and glances at her. "We think we're the minority but who knows?"

Eglantine rocks back and forth on her heels. "My entire family could shift. My mom, dad, sister, aunt on my mom's side..." She writes, biting the tip of her pen, before continuing. "Do you ever wonder about the genetics of shifting?"
Jayden pauses for a moment in thought. "Hmm... probably to town, or the ones a few days over. Find a job, blend in. I think a lot of us rely on the groups because we're lost." He explains, holding the pad back out. "Find a cause, get involved..."

Eglantine frowns. Am I lost...? She wonders to herself, before writing. "That's probably very true. I know a few adults in our town are shifters...Cici and Casey have an aunt nearby who can shift..."
<Snipped quote by Fionraella>

Jayden returns the smile. It was nice to interact with someone who was friendly. "Maybe things will work out later and we can leave, seperately of course. I doubt this will be my forever home, personally." He hands her back the pad. "But until then, deal with what we're thrown."

Eglantine nods. "I'd hate to see this group go, but you're right, this definitely isnt where I see myself living my entire life." She then frowns. "Where do you think older shifters go when they get done here?"
<Snipped quote by Fionraella>

Jayden reads her story and frowns sadly at the outcome of the boy. "That definitely is something terrible to go through... but a home is better than nothing. I'm sorry to hear about the boy." He nods in agreement to her last statement. "I feel you. I stay because it's easier than uprooting all I've built. And I can handle the types of characters that make up our wonderful group.

Eglantine nods a bit. 'It's not easy. But nothing about living in this forest is easy...all the death, fighting, hatred, jealousy...none of it makes any sense to me, so I try to avoid it.." She then exhales softly. "Agreed." She gives him a warm smile.
<Snipped quote by Fionraella>

Jayden skims the page and nods. "Yeah, I get that a lot. I just have manners it seems." He laughs, passing the pad back. "And honestly I ask myself that a lot. At first I joined because I needed a home, but as time went by... the people aren't that great." He sighs, thinking of his time in the forest. It had been a few years.

Eglantine gives him a sympathetic smile before writing her own response. "I joined the Broms because I fell in love with a boy here. But I never got the courage to ask him. I don't think he even knew I was mute. But...one day there was a huge battle and he died.." Her hand begins shaking. She calms herself before continuing. "I never could bring myself to leave this group,the only home I've ever know, no matter how horrible the people are...There are always some good ones."
<Snipped quote by Fionraella>

Jayden takes the pad and reads it. He frowns a bit at the mention of the name-calling. "Some people are mute, some are deaf. Not something you can control. So I don't see any reason to think of it as a bad thing," he says, pushing her the pad back so she could reply. "A lot of people will find others who can be made fun of easily. That's the bad thing."

Eglantine nods slowly. "True." She writes. She then tilts her head at him curiously. "You seem nicer than most Broms, how come you're here?" She writes, pausing before handing it to him. She scans his face for any sign of malice or any adverse emotion. Not seeing any, she frowns, curious about the boy.
Jayden waits for her to finish writing, and then takes the pen and pad and writes his name out. "Like that," he motions. He then nods slightly. "I can understand that. They're not always the most welcoming." He passes the pad and pen back so she can reply.

Eglantine nods and looks at the one he wrote. "Yeah." She writes, agreeing. "I use to get made fun of a lot. Tons of the older members called me No-talk and other stupid nicknames." She bites her lip. "You don;t think badly of be for not being able to talk right?"
