Bio
I'm back after at least two years!! Hooray!!! I'm also a gay guy now, so that's cool. I still like creating new characters to screw around with, so if I ever get back into the swing of things, then maybe I'll use them. Considering I still need to finish college though, don't count on it.
Madness's head veered up "oh foxy guess what when im done pounding the shit out of my bro i will burn down your village since he was here".
Jakkuna simply laughed. "I'm afraid that Soulless has already completed that. He has burned down my village before. I don't see why you would need to do so. Kitsunes hold valuable information and abilities, angering a whole tribe would be a bit insane for someone to do.", she replied, leaning against a hut while smiling a bit, "Ah, memories."
Name: "Charna Merle, Nice to meet you."
Age: "I'm roughly 15, although my birthday is in August, which is irritating."
Occupation: "I'm a student and I work on things like dream catchers as a hobby. I still get paid to do them now and again, actually."
Hometown: "I live in the town..."
Bio: "Not going to tell. Ever. If I ever do, it will be wrote on paper."
Symbol on the Cipher Wheel: The Crow
Theme song: HOUSEWIFE RADIO
Other: "Reality is an illusion and the universe is a hologram! Wait, so that means that everything we know and love is a fabrication...Interesting. I wonder what 'real life' would be, then. I'm also a bit 'old-fashioned', but I don't care. I have a mix of an English accent and a slight Russian one. I know most things on this town, including things on the supernatural here."
-----------------------------------------
Name: He answers to the names 'Lead' (Pronounced like the element) and 'Dead Water'.
Age: He appears to be an adult, but the exact age is unknown.
'Halfcanters are a relative of the Backrunners, but are much more colorful and less territorial than their larger, ornery brethren. About the size of a large dog, these creatures are undergoing the slow process of (attempted) domestication, and are often bred to produce wild and intense patterns on their fur. These patterns are sometimes accented with dyes, and slews of people boasting their animals are the prettiest has lead to the creation of shows and fairs centered around the animals. Handling by inexperienced keepers is not welcome, however, as they still possess a rather rebellious (and frankly, unpredictable) nature. Maybe I should get one as a pet.' Is what it says in Book III.
Abilities/Powers: Each Halfcanter has it's own powers and abilities, but these mostly come from the creature's parents. Lead is extremely agile for a Halfcanter and is usually very hostile. He considers the lake his territory and if he sees another Halfcanter there, he will most likely either chase it down or rip it apart. It's easy for him to climb up trees and other things thanks to his odd claws. Rather than running, he appears to 'shadow leap', which is basically the same as teleporting. Staring into his eyes creates fear or shows your worst fear inside of them. The more you stare, the worse it gets. It can easily skulk about in the shadows from it's fur, size and natural instincts. It can see perfectly fine in the dark.
Bio: It's history is unknown.
Theme song: Night of The Hunter by Thirty Seconds to Mars
Other: Reality is an illusion and the universe is a hologram!
Information
Califum, a small town to the northwest of another town called Gravity Falls. To outsiders, the two may look almost identical in the way they both have mysteries and 'never seen before!' creatures. Both towns have their own tourists who visit to see if both of these are true. But every town has it's own secrets, secrets that need to stay hidden for good. Summer break has just come around and new characters are visiting. What will happen when this group enters Califum, to discover that there's more than meets the eye to this town?
(Credit goes to 1Charak2 for the 'Journal' section, the four books, the 'Society of the Blind Eye' section and half of the locations!)
-------
This small town seems to have had its own author, who's journal writing seemed quite scruffy and hard to read, like he didn't have enough time to write carefully. As such, the books (there are 4) seem to be a sporadic mess of paper and glue. Some pages have also been torn out but for what purpose remains unknown. These journals have roman numerals on them as opposed to numbers.
Book I
The First book seems almost like a biography, detailing the authors exploits but it has a lack of names of any kind. The main reason why this book is of any use is the fact that it details a wide general use of everything the author studied, each one going into great depth of the subject at hand and about the failures and of what he's encountered. As such, it can be termed as the 2nd most useful of all the books he has written.
Book II
Book two seems entirely surprised of information about the town itself where things are located, hidden objects, abandoned places, etc. These places generally have a connection to the supernatural in some way, being either a place for ghosts to roam or a object of some value or power that if in the wrong hands, could be disastrous. As such most of the items and clues within the 2nd book are hidden within riddles or codes as to make it as hard as possible for someone to find the objects and places where they can wreck havoc.
Book III
The 3rd book can be seen as akin to a bestiary detailing every supernatural the author has encountered through either video footage or direct encounter. The books shows information about it as well as ways kill or stop them. It also contains a very brief segment on Bill Cipher and other random information related to the creatures found in the book.
Book IV
The 4th book is only 3 quarters done with many of the pages being either blank or have written. It summarizes over two key subjects: The society of the Blind Eye and an entity commonly referred to as Bill Cipher. The pages here are the most untidy of the loot, looking almost like crazed scribbles, but each line is a small piece of the puzzle of the other. At the very back of the book is a small note saying Forgot me, Trust no one in the town. They're watching, He's watching.
---------------------
A society that originated in Gravity Falls. It's main purpose is to make people forget their encounters with the supernatural so they can avoid problems. The town has its own off strand of the cult which contains 17 members, each one living in the town.
-------------------------
Demonsrise Lake
Demonrise Lake is possibly the largest lake in the town, hidden deep within the nearby woods. It serves as a landfill for all types of trash and toxins. All sorts of mutated animals gather around there, most being hostile towards visitors. The surface of the lake is thick with oil and a dark green hue. The lake is isolated from other river ways, but still manages to survive in the summer. The name comes from all of the unusual animals and unidentified creatures that thrive there.
Demonscatt Fell
Demonscatt Fell is a lush yet barren area, having only the pretty scenery to really count for. The landscape is smooth, only having the occasional pile of rocks and rubble. This is only on the outside, however. There are tales which tell of a hidden entrance into the inside of the area, going deep underground. Some teenagers had tried once to find the entrance to only come back bruised and battered. No one knows if the tale is true or not, but there's only one way to find out. It's said at night, figures can be seen watching from the fell. This is partly how it got it's name.
Nonsense Hill
As it says in the name, this hill makes no sense at all. One day there could be nothing there and the next, there could be a whole forest. No one knows how or why this happens, but the things that happen at the hill only last for a day before it's replaced with something new. Strange thing is, you can only see what's atop if you're on the hill or close to it. Looking at it from a far distance shows that nothing is on there.
Brokeback Gorge
Brokeback Gorge is a small valley located at the far northwest part of the town. At the bottom of the gorge is a fast moving stream which leads out of the town. Children can be seen playing around the edges of the gorge. There has been tales of a certain creature lurking at the gorge, always their but always out of sight, but it doesn't exist when you acknowledge it, so most people blame the creature's attacks on accidents...
Abandoned Happy Fun Time Workshop
The Abandoned Workshop is in one of the far corners of the town. It sits on top of one of the main cliffs that are around the town, over looking Brokeback Gorge. The place is filled with old abandoned toys, sweets and other various outdated items from when it still functioned. Most of the area has collapsed on itself. Rumors say the business that owned it simply just vanished and never returned.
The Old Pizzeria
The Old Pizzeria is a rundown building, never used, but voices can be heard talking inside... It might have a link to the Blind Eye Society...
Old Man Forest's Stump
It said that sometimes (this is random chance their is no set time) there will be a old scruffy tramp sitting on that stump, locked in deep thought. You may ask him one question and he will tell you everything he knows on the subject, but in return you must tell him something new or never receive information from him again.
Pan's Woods
A small segment of the woods around the town has the odd sound of music vibrating through its trees. This music is usually quiet and well contempt, being quite blissful and calm, but, if one was to say, harm one of the trees or leave litter, the music turns in a low vibration that slowly increases until something appears behind the offender. What happens next is unknown.
Bob's Bakery
Bob's Bakery is indeed a bakery that's owned by a man named Bob. It serves as a local snack shop, selling small cakes and cookies to having vending machines with chocolate bars in them. It also has a small section of drinks off to the side. It's one of the only stores that appears like a normal one would. At night, however, it's said to be haunted by the two old owners of the building.
Kentucky Fried Turkey
A shop that is generally normal in every way. It just sells really good turkey. But, it is located on 666 Bestia Lane, so that is something to note.
The Town Hall
The town hall is the home of the local council of the small area. They deal with the same things a normal council would deal with, but thanks to the rumors of supernatural creatures, it nearly always seems like they're hiding something. Only the members of the council know what this 'something' is, as they keep it hidden from the public. There are old rumors that the Blind Eye is linked with the Council.
The Town Library
The town library has books on nearly every genre and it's the only library in the town. Because of this, it's extremely large. There is a separate section for all of the archives of the town, both from the past and present. It's easy to get lost in the many rows of bookshelves. The library is extremely old and most of the time, it needs repairing.
The History Museum
The history museum is the second area of knowledge, but it takes the prize of being the most boring location. It shows the progressing history of the town through displays and giant textbooks, having quite expensive souvenirs to keep it running. There are a few strange displays that seem to be jumbled into the mix of history, but apart from that, nothing really stands out.
666 Bestia Lane
A road that oddly contains no houses, but if you start walking from the start straight to the end without diverting, something happens... but it requires certain requirements as well; it has to be the midnight hour which you start and there can be no lights on, (this is broken by the street lamps that have since been installed) plus you must have full commitment to what your doing. You can't be forced into it.
The House with the Number 0 door- WARNING: DO NOT ENTER-
There is a lone house at the very edge of the town with a door number marked as 0. Looking through the window, one can see a warm blazing hearth and a old man rocking himself to sleep in a rocking chair. The old man looks normal, except for the color of his eyes, which are a dark grey. Looking into those eyes makes you compelled to step inside and join him. But once you cross the door frame <the rest of the note is missing>

Theme for the roleplay
I'm surprised this is still alive, you guys are dedicated.
And I finally had the guts to GM! *gasp* Be proud.
I'll probably pop in now-and-again, seeing as this is my secondary source of entertainment.
Couldn't we possibly all be friends of who are related to each other in a way, the government attempting to find the place of supernatural beings while most of us don't know whats going on except for one. The group of players find a book as they venture in the forest and attempt to depuzzle it, thus we then follow the episodes or we take on our own path.
The first part you said doesn't have to be there. I'd like it if our characters either know others or don't at the beginning. The journals will be in there somewhere, probably. I wouldn't be suprised if the government was trying to find a source of supernatural entities, so this is another idea that could work.
On another note, I'll probably make the IC either tommorrow or the day after.
What about having our own mysterious town somewhere in the northwest? It can have as many similarities to Gravity falls as we want, locations, characters, and history, but there's still so much that we don't know about the town and the people there, so there could be a big game changer in an upcoming episode that could throw everything off track. Not to mention, we would be able to do whatever we want to and with the town without being incorrect to the show.
That's very true, actually...I think I'll go with this idea. I'd rather not have this suddenly die from a new episode that has major events happen.
I'd be interested in helping GM-ing this if you'd like.
Also, I'd like to bring up something in relation to this. How are we going to fit into Gravity falls? Will we be taking control of preexisting characters, or be making our own to solve the mysteries of the town?
That would be a great help! Thank you for offering. :)
I originally thought that it'd be better to do a mix of existing characters and also our own, gives it a bit more flavor. I'm not that bothered if the existing get a lot of attention or not, seeing as I'd rather have everyone create there own mysteries, almost.
Me too, though I'm bit a behind seeing here in Holland we just had the season 1 finale. That said I have never cared about spoilers, heck I knew about Snape working for and killing Dumbledore long before I even held a copy of the Hlafblood Prince without caring about it.
In that case, sites that discuss the show are the best for spoilers. I don't really care for them as well, but if I can help it, I won't go and search for some, I prefer to find out things on my own. I'd recommend looking at some spoilers in this case, season 2 is quite important. Saying that, I don't know if to start this at the end of season 1 or the most recent episode...Cast your votes, I guess.
Word of warning, I've never GMed before and if someone was willing to take the spot, I'd be grateful. (If this spikes interest, that is.)
I've finished watching up to the most recent episode, 'The Love God', and I thought that the whole setting would be great for a roleplay, since there's a bit of a mix between the supernatural and normal life. The area looks big enough to create other small stories. I really don't know where to go with this, so guidance would be appreciated. I did scavenge in case there was one somewhere, but I couldn't find any surviving ones, which is a shame. So, would anyone be interested in something like this?
Edit: The RP is here!
I'm back after at least two years!! Hooray!!!
I'm also a gay guy now, so that's cool. I still like creating new characters to screw around with, so if I ever get back into the swing of things, then maybe I'll use them. Considering I still need to finish college though, don't count on it.
