I doubt it's capable of meltdown. Those designs were phased out long before this was built.

Even on a smaller scale, what if some stupid kid wanders in here looking for adventure?
<Snipped quote by GalaxyRaider>

It's an old reactor, we don't use them anymore. It would've just sat out here untouched if it wasn't sabotaged.

This stuff could really hurt a lot of people if it gets worse.
<Snipped quote by GalaxyRaider>

With your hobbies, I would've believed it.
*Steps toward the terminal, and looks through the passage the lead shielding once guarded, protecting an open pool of water surrounded by pristine technology and housing the facility's reactor*

Not to insult you or anything. But how dystopian is your world to allow this to happen?
<Snipped quote by GalaxyRaider>

And that show just did... what, exactly?

Shielding for radiation. And a little concoction with a similar effect… The latter isn’t my work. Not a pharmacist or a chemist or anything like that.
<Snipped quote by GalaxyRaider>

*Much of the debris ticks up to unsafe levels in close proximity and the room itself exceeds healthy limits of radiation, and a sole terminal blinks blue amidst the ruined equipment, wedged between the lead pillars*

*Hands you the geiger counter, and summons to my hands in a similar manner a small container about as big as my arm. I open it up, strap a device to my wrist, and then remove a pill from the container which I swallow as the trinket whirs to life without visible effect*
<Snipped quote by GalaxyRaider>

*It continues ticking faster, but still within marginally-safe levels*
I guess it depends on your perspective. If you get struck by lightning three times, are you unlucky because of your circumstances, or lucky because you survived?
*Past the dismantled control room and through a narrow shaft is a close, experimental monitoring station, complete with its own set of broken technology, once-protective lead pillars now lying horizontally on the ground, and an ashy white powder coating the ground*

*Aims the geiger counter at the debris around the room*
<Snipped quote by GalaxyRaider>

I don't know, you have like, ghastly sorts of luck.
*The wall that separated us from the core of the plant originally is completely torn down and most of the equipment lies in pieces, disassembled*

*Glances down at the ticking geiger counter as we walk, and I tilt my head to the side for a moment*
Agree to disagree.
<Snipped quote by GalaxyRaider>

I hope so. I don't need you growing a third arm out your neck.
*Heads inside*

I know a couple guys who could fix that.
*Ducks in behind you*
But odds are a mutation would be far less useful than a whole new arm.
<Snipped quote by GalaxyRaider>

Negligent at best, criminal at worst. Do you need to wait out here?

I’ve got ways to handle it if it gets bad enough.
<Snipped quote by GalaxyRaider>

What bothers me more is why there's any radiation at all. This place has been decommissioned for years.

It was pretty safe last time we were here. Perhaps it’s just as simple as some stuff was forgotten and left behind radiation shielding that’s given way now.
*Shakes my head*
Not a good thing to have just sitting around either way.
