Vamyr's head jerked when he heard the elf call out from the floor below, and again when splinters of wood and a man came flying past to crash into the living dead making their way up the stairs. The sound of splintering wood became obvious through the door, but he was trapped, stuck between the dead on their way up and the one in his room. He nodded in relief as the dwarf passed by and engaged the others in the hall, decimating the corpse of a dog in a strike. Vamyr jerked again as the hunter started using the crack between the door and frame as leverage. The dwarf made short work of the innkeeper and daughter's bodies by the time the halfling showed her face.
He was possibly one of the few there that had the time to spot the fight Ofnir had to put up just to make the fire burn. That put far more gravity to the situation than even the dead warranted. ”Keep in sight of eachother! We don't know what killed them!” Vamyr strained to hold the door, struggling to keep it closed against the increasing leverage from the other side, until Ofnir and Ellaryn came to his aid. With a single nod Vamyr let go of the handle and jumped to the side of the door in one motion, avoiding the blade that stabbed out where he had been bracing a moment before. He backed away from the fighting and grabbed his pack, hastily pulling clothing from under the top straps and yanking it on. It was freezing, and he had been standing around in linens for the last few minutes. He could feel goosebumps raising... and he wasn't willing to try and warm up over the corpses of their latest adversaries. Vamyr didn't bother to mess with his armor, just quickly grabbing his shirt and pants to pull on before belting his sword overtop. The man was finishing his shoelaces when a thought froze him. ”The horses!” Vamyr heaved his pack onto his back and ran towards the stairway. ”Thurin! Aelin! What of our mounts?”
Yo, I will be outta town today and most of tomorrow, so I will have limited access to a computer. Sorry for delays! I may get another phone post up though, should I have sufficient boredom and patience.
@Ammokkx I used GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program)
It is OpenSource, but I would say it is a bit more powerful than photoshop. There is a tradeoff though. You have a lot more options and customization with GIMP, but it is harder to use and it may take longer to achieve the same effects that Photoshop can create. I prefer it because there are a lot of upgrades and resource packages you can attach to it, and I have much more experience with it.
A blinking red light hovered in front of him, hazily, Daniel swatted at it, trying to get rid of the annoyance, but his hand just passed through the haze. He shook his head and tried to sit up, finding himself restrained. The hell..? Then the situation dawned on him. He reached about blindly and yanked open the compartment containing the bottle of 'liquid courage' and yanking out the cork with his teeth, gulping down a burning mouthful. "Sorry buddy, I would share if I could." All around, red alarms were flashing, though the one that had awoken him had a persistent beep- it was the last text communication he had recieved before the signals were jammed. Better not get get killed Daniel you've got a promise to keep. Die and I'll some how make you pay.
The burn of the alcohol in his system and the message brought him back to his senses, rapid recall style. Wilton jerked forward and started flipping switches, demanding diagnostics and putting Magus back under his control. To the best he could tell, the mecha was laying splayed out and mostly intact, excepting the arm laying a sector away in D3. Luckily, Magus's design had kept the damage from spreading down to it's core systems. Tentatively, he reactivated visual sensors and the local navigation, instictively picking up the bottle of alcohol and taking another swig as he realized his position. It was clear that they were cut off from global command, but localized... might get through. He tuned to the localized coms and took a deep breath.
"Magus reporting from E3." Daniel stowed away the bottle of alcohol and cracked his fingers, trying to sound cheerful. "Thinks are looking pretty bad over here..." his voice shook a bit as he turned Magus's head, trying to focus on D5, "...I can't make out Rostosov. A sniper took off my arm." He slowed down and was quiet for a moment. There wasn't much to say. When his voice haltingly came back, it was quieter. "There are three CWM's a sector east of me... ...Someone spar with Katya for me when you get back." Honestly, he wasn't even sure there was someone capable of listening, but it helped to talk. He had to analyze the situation, and figure out what he could do.
The first issue was that he had been shot from far off- there hadn't been any enemies nearby during his initial manuver. South would only take him closer to Mist, and East was death. If he headed directly West he would run into one of the tentacled beasts, which he wasn't certain of their weaponry. North was another such beast. If their movement was at all similar to his own, the best option was to dash to sector C1, which would put him out of range of any medium range weapons from the Cruxi squad and hopefully out of the movement range of the tentacled beasts. Quickly, he set the coords, prepping Magus's boosters and planning his movement patterns. He waited for the last second to have Magus stand, not wanting to draw any attention to the fact that he was alive.
>Boosters Ready >Activate?
Daniel aimed for a simple manuver, pushing up into almost a racers stance, crouching with his one good arm out for balance, aimed towards sector C1. "Activate Boosters." Magus didn't need verbal command, but habit does as habit is. As the mecha took off, Daniel glanced at some of the pinned pictures and let the G force push him back in the harness, draining the last of the alcohol.
In a way, it was pointless. Magus was unarmed- the capacitors would take a long time to recharge, as he had drained them all in the inital LEL burst that had gone astray. Temporarily, he should be safe, but it was a checkmate. The beasts in A3 and F1 would have him trapped, even if they couldn't kill him immediately. Squad Sigma couldn't afford to save him, doing so would back the entire squad into the corner.
He closed his eyes for a moment, smiling to himself. "Come and get me, you bastards." Daniel shakily wiped a tear from the corner of his eye and forced a chuckle. Hopefully he would occupy the monsters long enough for Squad Sigma to pull ahead.
Mist's effective radius is in squares completely inside the circle; less than 50% overlapped squares don't count. Circle's radius is medium range for weapon ranges. Framewerks can both move two squares in both axis and attack in the same post, with diagonal movement limited to one square while attacking. Framewerks can fully dash 4 squares without attacking, and diagonally can move two without attacking. The exceptions are both Yeager when using boosters and Jetto Chosa in jet form; both can add three squares to their axis movement and two squares for diagonal movement. Always specify where your Framewerk ended up at the end of your post. For example, Logic Gate moved to E3 (haha).
And a warning; if you fuck up too much, there is a real chance you may die. Unlike the training battle, this is a real war, and the gloves are off.
