I hope so, and you never know when inspiration will strike. It's actually a bit easier to think about a character when I'm not holding others up.
Yo, is this dying already?
Shiroko couldn't help but see the look that passed over the faces of her fellow guardians. Apparently they trusted their own judgements more than that of the royal family. Of course, pointing that out would make her guilty of the same thing, so she kept her mouth shut. Instead, she looked meaningfully in the direction of Mount Fuji.

These guardians... it hardly seems right to call them such. They are more a collection of clashing egos and physical desires than they are warriors. They act as if they have never been given a disagreeable assignment before.

It gives me no pleasure to lead our princess into some unknown fate, but it is not my place, nor anyone else's, to question this order. I fear that I may have to take the mission into my own hands if they cannot submerge their desires for the greater good.

I'm trying to characterize Jenna and drawing far too many blanks. I was kind of hoping some others might post theirs, so I could get a feel for the party.
"A rose for the young lady?"

"Ah, no. Thank you kindly, but I am otherwise engaged."

Alice waved off the old man as politely as she could. It was just the first day she had set foot in this town, and she had been showered in offers since she stepped off the train. Fortunately she had heard of the Lovers' Festival in advance, or she might well have promised herself to the porter who took her bags.

A swaggering middle-aged fellow in an ostentatiously printed yukata was coming her way now, rose in hand, so she ducked down the nearest alleyway to avoid lying her way out of another uncomfortable offer. It wouldn't be so bad, she reflected, if I thought they were after me for anything but my odd looks. She had grown used to that in the Orient, being looked at as a curiosity. She had, after all, been guilty of the same thing whenever she'd seen anything Oriental back home. Now she was just on the other side of the mirror.

Speaking of back home, the building she was now outside reminded her of the postcard she had received long ago. The beautiful architecture was what had inspired her to travel to the City of Flowers in the first place. She couldn't resist taking a look inside, and was immediately entranced by the rich scent coming from within the tea shop. She stepped in, hung her hat by the door, and looked around. Most of the tables seemed occupied, but there was a man standing by the door.

"Oh, good day."
Shiroko gave the ones who had stepped out of line a glare.

"The Princess will judge as she sees fit. Your words have nothing but pride behind them, when skill and experience are what her companions need."

She fixed her eyes back on the princess, trying not to betray her own nervousness.

This was, after all, the first true mission she had been assigned, as her spotlessly white garments would make clear to anyone familiar with the Village of Whispers. The ninja of the village wore the same gear until it was no longer fit for use, and were forbidden to wash out the blood of previous battles. Her current name even reflected this lack of real-world experience.

She took a breath and pushed the nervousness down inside her as she addressed the princess.

"I am called Shiroko. I am a kunoichi of the Village of Whispers, and I was chosen by our esteemed elders to accompany the Princess on this journey. It is their hope that I am adequate for your service, and so they have commended my life into your hands. I swear by my name and the honor of my village that I will serve you to my last breath."

Did I say 4'8"? I meant 4'10". I was thinking in base ten. That's still pretty short.

Yeah, considering Shiroko is 4'10" and uses her tininess to her advantage.
Are we still waiting on the other CSs for the IC to start?
Name: Alice Stokeworth
Gender: Female
Age: 19

Appearance: A young lady of high society, with long auburn hair in elegant waves. She tends to dress in the rather masculine style that has swept through the cities of the West, with a well-tailored three-piece navy suit jacket and long matching skirt. After her unconventional dress, her most striking features are her height of five-foot-nine and her striking emerald eyes.

Personality: Alice is what her father called a "spirited young lady," mostly due to being the only daughter in a family with four sons. She is always energetic, whether laughing, crying, or shouting down an adversary. She sees no reason not to live every moment to the fullest, and often rushes into things. Alice is also a very skilled conversationalist, and can speak at length on a surprising variety of topics.

Prior History: Alice is the only daughter of the Stokeworth family, born between two sets of twin boys. Her father is the founder of Stokeworth Machine Works, a massively successful manufacturing company, and as such her family life often revolved around the firm. She decided upon coming of age that she wanted to make her own way in life, and decided to travel the world that she had only seen in stories. So far, she has enjoyed every minute of it.

Likes: Strong black or chai tea, automata, adventure stories, theatre
Dislikes: Boredom, snakes, liars
Dream: Write a story inspired by her experiences in the Orient
