Alda pushed the new boy back gently as she pointed the sword toward the monster in front of her.
Okay. You've got this. Eyes front, feet planted wide... ready to strike.
The beast leapt forward, jaws wide to tear into Alda's throat... but the moment its feet left the ground, she sprung forward, driving her blade's point into its throat.
One down. Too many left.
She pulled her blade free of the creature's limp body and took a few steps back, readying herself for another strike. She allowed herself a glance to either side, checking on Brant and then the new kid. She decided she'd worry about her housemate first.
"Brant," she called, still backing up with her eyes on the advancing beasts, "there is no way in Helheim that I'm ditching you. Pull back before I have to pull you back myself."
