Nova scoffed. "You should be thanking me for missing!" she pointed out with a laugh. She raised an eyebrow at him. "You know, you're insisting how you're such a tough, mean guy, but you really don't seem that way at heart," she said softly.

Ryder grabbed his chest in mock agony. "Again with the insults! I'm terrible. Despicable. A monster. That you would insinuate otherwise is heartbreaking." He grinned. "You on the other hand are no where near annoying enough to be a Rabin. You're actually the opposite really. It's mind boggling."

Nova rolled her eyes. "I know in your mind you're giving a compliment, but maybe you could try a bit harder in the future," she teased. Her mind clouded slightly and her mind began to wander. Why am I here talking to him? He's a Brom and I'm a Rabin, this isn't the wat things are supposed to be... she thought guiltily, then reasoned, But then again, Broms aren't supposed to be like him! He's pretty cool, and doesn't seem like a crazy murderous maniac. She forcibly steered her mind away from the more outrageous thoughts that crossed her mind.

Ryder chuckled. "Who said anything about a compliment? We Broms are despicable. I was trying to insult you." He winked at her. "But in my defense, you shot an arrow at my head. I feel I'm within my rights to insult you."

Nova shrugged. "Not all of them, of course. But when you've got a leader like Fabine, it can change the attitude of the whole group," she reasoned. She blinked at him and chuckled slightly, "I mean, you seem okay."

Ryder chuckled. "Oh how sweet of you. My little heart is warmed." He grinned. "You seem simply despicable for a Rabin. Terrible really. Which apparently puts you at Brom level so welcome aboard."

Nova laughed. "I guess it's just the general atmosphere. Everyone is tough and all, but no one is insane or a jerk or anything," she shrugged, picturing some of thr other Broms she'd met as fitting that description.

Ryder gave her a skeptical look. "You say that like Broms are all insane jerks? You realize that's a little stereotypical, right?"

Nova snorted and shoved him. "That's so typical of a Brom, take advantage of every opportunity to deem yourself superior," she muttered. She sighed and shook her head slightly. "I don't know how you guys are even happy. What makes you happy?" she directed at him.

Ryder chuckled. "I'm kiiiiidding." He shrugged. "What makes anyone happy? What makes you Rabins so unbearably cheerful all the time?"

Nova rolled her eyes and laughed slightly. "No, not quite. Just because we're not as bloodthirsty, that doesn't mean we're all softies that are into that stuff." She shivered at the gross thought. "We live pretty similar to you guys," she explained, her voice trailing off in soft surprise.

Ryder feigned disappointment. "Whaaaaat? Not even the occasional sing along? Well that's no fun." He shrugged. "We're all human I guess." He grinned before adding jokingly. "It's just that the Broms are superior humans."

Nova relaxed a bit, knowing that no one would stumbled upon her talking to this Brom. He's nice enough. There's nothing wrong with a Rabin and a Brom just talking, right? she convinced herself. She took a breath and smiled. "So, how's life in the Broms?" she asked curiously.

Ryder took a moment to think. "Uh, nothing too exciting. Hunting. Patrols. The usual kind of thing I guess. How about the Rabins? I feel like you all gather in the evenings to have a sharing circle and sing campfire songs." He chuckled slightly.
Ryder grinned. "Nice to meet you, Nova." He took a moment to think before answering. "Hmm, no there shouldn't be. Why?" He tilted his head slightly and examined the girl in front of him. I should definitely be stabbing right now. Or threatening to stab. She's a Rabin.

Nova chuckled slightly as he quickly rolled to the side and tried to recover smoothly. She nodded, acknowledging his apology. "Oh, yeah, thanks. He's a good guy," she smiled slightly thinking about her brother that she hasn't seen in quite a while. She blinked slightly and glanced at him carefully, wondering if it was a mistake to let her guard down.

Ryder nodded quickly. "That's good. It's good to have a good brother." That sounded stupid. You idiot. What's wrong with you? She's a Rabin! Get up and stab her! Ignoring the voice in his mind, Ryder returned the slight smile and pushed himself into a sitting position.

Nova blinked. "Oh. Well, I have an older brother back home that I'd wrestle with a lot. For fun, obviously, but it wasn't very fun when I kept losing, so I had to sharpen up," she explained openly, then paused, a bit surprised at the turn their exchange had taken. Their faces were still only about a foot apart, and she could see there was no hostility remaining.

Ryder blinked and then looked embarrassed as he realized he was still on top of her. He rolled to the side quickly and lay on his back for a moment before propping himself up on his elbows and grinning sheepishly over at her. "Uh.. Sorry about that. That's cool... About your brother I mean."
