@JELDare I didn't want to jump the gun with the rarity of Rosie's dermo-chromokinesis, but how common would you consider her ability to be?
EDIT: Moved to Chars thread.
I will also keep heads on the humans being with factions. The original plan was for these hunters to be united while trying to find their way back home to their era, but perhaps to have them represent as one of the last human hunters of a territory, being maybe blessed by a god/goddess, could be an idea to explore.

In that context I was thinking more the humans competing against each other so as to breed the best creatures for the team, setting their different pets against each other to determine which would be the best before helping to take down particularly vicious foes together. Sort of like PvP arena combat before facing the PvP wilds missions.
Sounds awesome. Though does she have any combat abilities? 'Cause things are going to get hairy in the RP.

Sadako moves practically silently, can teleport through anything with a visual display and can drown people by touching them. She's best used as stealth scout recon, being able to eliminate lone sentries but struggling when dealing with large groups.

Hideki can write fan fiction, can obsess about a girl he'd known years before, and can easily be scared by Sadako when she suddenly appears behind him without making any sound while approaching.

Characters are The Warden, Hawke, & The Inquisitor from the Dragon Age series.

The Hero of Fereldan, the Champion of Kirkwall and the Herald of Andraste?

Would you be making one a rogue, opne a mage and one a warrior, so as to have a balanced team of fighters?
I've got the idea of playing both as a creator and their creation, namely a spooky girl based on Sadako Yamamura from Ring.

The joke would be that 'Sadako' would constantly be creeping up on people unintentionally, just wanting to make friends but scaring people all the time until they got used to her. This would be particularly annoying for her creator, who had been a screenwriter making the character for a cheap horror film based off a successful doujin they'd made while in high school, with 'Sadako' based on a girl they'd had a crush on at the time.
The quarry shall be prepared.

Please don't. Quarry are far more fun when you catch them off guard.
How would you feel about a girl whose skin could change colour?

To start with she wouldn't be able to control this ability, and it would change based on her emotional state, but over time she could learn to blend into her surroundings or even gain resistance to elemental damages based off of the colour she became. The downside would be her emotional control, with her having to keep herself focused in order to use her powers, and any sort of emotional distress would make them go haywire.
No option to play as a human hunter with a 'pet' monster which they're forcing to fight in battles, forage for food and eat rare candies to help them evolve in a direction that would be beneficial for the hunter? It would help with the roleplaying if the rival humans could trade smack talk before getting their giant beast to battle each other for supremacy. Defeating an Apex predator would give you the option to try and tame it, using it as one of your pets until it dies in bloody battle for your glory. A bit like in Pokemon.

Then again, you could take the RP in a totally different direction and make it a little like Horizon: Zero Dawn, where the monsters are machines which the humans can hack and take control of. By destroying other monster machines the hunters would be able to salvage parts from them to upgrade their favourite pets. Defeating an Apex predator would let you salvage some of the advanced tech from its body and bolt it onto your own monster, but if you get defeated in battle an opponent might rip the shiny tech off and start using it themselves.

And another different direction would be to have the monsters similar to the Zerg from Starcraft, the Kaiju from Pacific Rim or the Tyrandis from Warhammer 40k, where each 'hive' is controlled by a central intelligence which can spawn creatures with different abilities depending on what they need them to do. Players could take on the role of one the the 'overminds' breeding new species in competition with the overs, trying to gather new genetic materials to unlock new traits, abilities and skills, as well as biological material to actually grow the beasts. Defeating one of the Apex predators would then give you the ability to spawn a clone of them, but you'd have to collect enough biomass to feed into the spawning pool before being able to make something that big.
