BTW, Frog is still roughed up a little, right? The spores didn't heal everything?
If you do it becomes an item.
@Dark Cloud

What Blue was about to do was going to blow a hole in the floor too.

And yeah, that's a Cia spirit you have there.
Welp, scrap what I said about the damage. Same amount of damage, just in a different place.

Update later tonight.

Linkle jumped as the ice rushed toward her, kicking off the back of the bar for extra height and letting it rush off underneath her. She landed only to watch in amazement and horror as all her bolts were simply expelled, pushed out by what looked like the glow of the wild mans tattoos. In just a moment his skin was as unmarred as that of a newborn baby. That cheater. They weren't supposed to be able to do that. Only Blazermate should be able to do that.

At his taunt Linkle pulled a bottle a viscous green liquid from a pouch on her belt, quickly chugging the whole thing in two big gulps and placing the bottle back. She could feel the potion swirling in her guts, conveying an internal supply of magic to whatever organ you kept your magic in. She had a feeling she was going to need to whip that out at some point. Even if she wanted to abandon the fight, she couldn't. She had seen how fast he was, there was no doubt the Stranger would overtake her if she tried and he had no reason to let her leave.

"Always." She replied, putting her crossbows away. Then, instead of charging at him, she clasped her hands in front of her and slammed them into the ground like he had. Her hair flashed blue again as a wave of ice similar to his shot at him. Linkle didn't stop, she jumped to her feet and began moving back while shooting icicles at him from her palms. The ice had better range than her bows and she needed that as she moved away, into the snowfield around the town. Those wouldn't hurt him, she was pretty sure of that. That didn't matter. She wanted to draw him off. Away from Snowdin so he couldn't put her through any more poor buildings or the people that lived in them.

Only just now thinking about did she find it strange. She felt like she should be in much more pain from being punched through a building.
Unless Bowser wrecks the place with his elbow drop that Axii cast actually saved the restaurant a ton of additional damage.
Bak and Yuuto’s Night

Bak hardly even remembered Yuuto leading her inside, which is something she would come to regret later but really there was no helping it. Rurik’s joke had shocked the life right out of her, and just as she had been recovering from that Christine had shown up in an utterly scandalous costume that took her breath away a second time. A terrifying double whammy. Horror, embarrassment, stark relief, slight anger, puritanical stick-up-her-ass indignation all swirled together inside her and essentially nessiciated she run on autopilot until all the emotions were sorted into the relevant boxes.

When she finally came out of it she found herself crunching through some kind of cracker, richly adorned with some black jelly that certainly tasted expensive. She looked around, worried a little, as she blocked a section of a table laden with various fancy snacks and refreshments, but compared to the fanciest parties of her fantasies the spread was actually little disappointing. Nevertheless she quickly reached out from under her costume and snatched another of those jelly crackers.

Gulping it down she turned to Yuuto. “Uhhhhhh, I hope I did not do anything embarrassing.” She said. No one was screaming and nothing was on fire, but it didn’t hurt to ask.

Yuuto glanced over at Bak, fighting to prevent form chuckling at how the machine girl had to maneuver to eat her snacks. However, at her query, he shook his head. Iie. No embarrassment came to you, Bak-san.” At this, Yuuto turned back to the crowd he’d been watching like a hawk ever since the two had stepped foot inside the ball. At first, Yuuto was sure he’d spotted some THRONEs agents, but they’d disappeared as quickly as they’d appeared. Yuuto grunted in annoyance. Keeping track of THRONEs was as hard as keeping track of a ninja (something he had some experience in). If they didn’t want to be seen, there was no way he’d be finding them any time soon.

However, Yuuto’s attention would be drawn to Katherine and her rather explosive exit. Yuuto’s body had tensed, prepared for action, but he relaxed as she left. He reached out for some punch, casually sipping on it as his eyes continued to wander.

Bak tried to follow where Yuuto was looking, briefly flipping on her thermal vision as her eyes landed on a girl ruining her pretty blue princess costume as she stomped away and flinching at the sudden white that engulfed her vision. She quickly flipped it off, realizing from a glance who it must have been and tensing up right alongside Yuuto, but to her relief the girl didn’t even notice them. After a few moments she lowered her weapons and giggled. “It is good thing we are wearing masks. I see why it is you do it all the time. It would not be good idea to get in fight with Christine's sister here.” She sighed. “Still, is nice to know she is all right. For Christine’s sake.”

Yuuto nodded his head absently at Bak’s assessments. Hai, for sake of Christine-chan, is good to know. However, bigger concern is demon inside.” At this, Yuuto shook his head.

”Perhaps is better to change subject. After all, would not want to ruin good evening of relaxing, ne?” the ninja asked, after finishing off his punch. ”What say we spar sometime, Bak-san? Am always seeking to improve myself.

“Hah, you want to test yourself against second scariest monster in all Yek. Da. Da! I would be honored.” She said excitedly. She suddenly turned and looked around the room, thoroughly scanning from side to side. “I do not think they have Bear Pit here though. Is disappointing. We could have done so right now, after I got rid of bear.” In fact, this was less extravagant than what she had expected of a decadent foreign princess. No wrestlers, so aria singers, so acrobats or small people that tumbled. “Maybe princess is impoverished.”

Yuuto himself glanced around, after making note of Blak’s pleased expression. However, he quirked an eyebrow at her. ”Second scariest, Bak-san? Who is scariest?” he asked. As she continued, Yuuto just became more confused, though he tried to hide it from his face. Bear pit? What kind of place did Bak come from?

At the impoverished bit, Yuuto couldn’t help but chuckle. Hai, is possible. No pachinko machines, no entertainers, and no tea station. Is very unusual party. Perhaps restrictions prevent better party?” he speculated. After all, it seemed to make sense to him that the Rhean government would restrict more dangerous displays.

That didn’t seem right to Bak, her country had tons of restrictions and that didn’t mean the nobility couldn’t throw insane parties. At least, that was what she had heard when listening to her fathers old war friends and the closest they had ever gotten to such a party was setting fire to the mansions they had been held in. She was happy to know that she wasn’t the only one that thought the entertainment was kind of light though.

That was less concerning than Yuuto’s first comment, because that meant she got to talk about her favorite subject. He could see her eyes light up through the holes in her costume. “That monster is Baba Yaga. She is greatest, most frightful monster in whole world. An evil old witch woman that flies around the night, cackling, giving out blessing and curse according to her whim. Some say all monsters that live in Yek come from her somehow. She is my hero.” Bak suddenly got a curious look in her eyes. “Do you have monster like this where you come from?”

The ninja listened in fascination as Bak talked about the Baba Yaga, almost as if it were some sort of celebrity. At Bak’s question, Yuuto chuckled. ”In Jubanese culture, we have many such creatures. Kappas that drown humans that wonder too close to river bank, vicious kamaitachi that chop legs off and sew wound before can blink, and kitsune, fox spirits that can transform into human to trick targets. Even shinobi such as I were used to scare children into behaving.” Yuuto finished. ”We have many horrors, not just one.”

Bak listened like a child to a bedtime story, except these stories that were used to frighten children only inspired wonder and excitement in her. She wanted to see these many horrors, she wanted to fight with them and see who was better. She would like to see a Kamaitachi try to cut its way through her legs, or one of these Kitsune try and outfox bullet. It was interesting how even someone as normal looking as Yuuto could be considered a monster back in his home though.

“Rhea does not have nearly as many horrors as our homes, does it?” She said thoughtfully. There were demons, but every place had trouble with demons. You could walk in a forest or down by a river here and not have to worry about something coming to devour you. “Do you think this is why Mr. Mephesto had to find horrors like us?”

As Yuuto finished telling these tales, he grew wistful for his homeland. Jubanese cities had a certain air about them that Rhean ones just couldn’t compete with. True, he’d never lived in Juban, but he’d gone on trips with the family. The Kugekino ancestral grounds were still occupied, and they’d gone to report on how business was doing with Rhean clients. However, Bak’s comments brought him out of his reverie.

Hai, compared to home, this country quite tame. However, Rhea not completely safe. Mephisto-dono operate from shadows, as do many others. Plus, we walk streets, do we not? Rhea maybe not have horrors, but Rhea still must deal with us. Perhaps we try to do homes proud, ne?”

Bak giggled. “Da, I have been trying. I can not walk in so many shadows though. Clank too much. Would get Tovarish in much trouble if I were to make too many people afraid, draw torch and pitchfork mob right to Mephisto’s door.” She wished she were able to be that kind of scary sometimes, lurking and moving like a ghost through places. People only knowing you were there from the creeping hairs on the back of their neck stiffening. Then again, from what she had seen, being a ninja wasn’t all fun. “Yuuto, are ninja very much like you see in movies? What is it really like? Oh, if this is not big secret I mean!”

Yuuto nodded in understanding. Of course Bak would have issues with stealth. However, she then asked about… ninja? Yuuto shook his head. Shinobi you see on film are not like real shinobi. Real shinobi prefer stealth, efficiency, and going straight for kill. We are assassins, killers, and to be used like a honed blade. There is no such thing as ‘honorable’ shinobi. We do not allow feelings to get in way of job. We are not humans. We are tools, to be used by clients as needed.” As he said this, his voice was hard and determined. This was what he had been taught from birth. He was not a person, he was a tool. His goals were to serve his clan and his clients. If he failed, then he was more worthless than a broken tool, and would be discarded as such. This was his life, and he regretted telling Bak about it. He’d hoped to keep her innocent to the darker side of what he did, but he also wouldn’t lie to her.

“Oh.” Bak said, queer understanding layered in her voice. “You become tool because tool does not have to feel bad, da?” She said softly. “Tool is not guilty of anything because tool can only be used by someone else.”

”We become tool because that is how we live. We earn living by being tools of employers. As for guilt… is difficult to overcome, sometimes…” Yuuto said, trailing off. Some might say that one as young as Yuuto should not speak in such a tone, but Yuuto also knew how close he’d been to actually killing another sentient being during the tournament. Ironically, him doing his job had brought about a spate of… unpleasant circumstances in his life lately. Part of why he was here. Yuuto shook his head. ”Please, let us talk about other things. Perhaps later we will discuss more about shinobi, but tonight is for enjoying, ne?”

Bak instantly understood that she had overstepped her bounds, and shrank down inside her costume. “I am sorry.” She said. “Why do you not ask me question, then? I have asked so many of you so far. Anything at all.”

Yuuto shook his head. ”Is okay, Bak-san. Is sometimes sad to talk about work with friends.” As she continued, he had trouble hiding his surprise. What would he ask about Bak? ”What brought you to Rhea, Bak? If is okay to ask.” Yuuto always had wondered why Bak would be in a place like this.

Bak was slightly taken aback. She hadn’t expected a question like that. “Mr. Mephisto’s man recruited me. I...there was not...ummmm,” She struggled to word the answer, though it didn’t seem as though she were trying to hide anything. At least, not from him. “I had nothing left to do at home. There was no one that would...mind...if I were to leave and Mr. Tatthel, this was the man’s name, he told me Rhea was beautiful city and that I would have more fun doing work here than waiting for Fearless Leaders men to come pick me up. So he put me on cart full of spiders and put me in crate in back of airplane and smuggled me out of country. And now am here.”

Yuuto patiently listened as Bak told her story, hiding any thoughts he had about the incident. However, after she finished, he quirked an eyebrow. ”Is… interesting way to travel. I hope Rhea has brought you good tidings. Is good place, when you know where to look.” the ninja cryptically replied. After all, his family business had found success in Rhea. No matter how much you polished a city, there was always a seedy underside looking to acquire more, even if it meant working outside the law.

“Mmm-hm!” Bak went, nodding. “I did not think so at first. I thought, when I first arrived, that all the people here were like the children back home. Mean. Scornful. Only good as targets.” As she spoke an incredibly cold bitterness crept into her voice. Her eyes became glassy and hard, like the glass sight on a rifle. “When I first came to St. Lucifer’s they surrounded me to make sport. Laughing. Jeering. Trying to drive me away. So I started blowing them up like always. But then do you know what happened?” All of a sudden that glassy look vanished like an exorcised ghost and Bak pointed across the room to the boy currently doing his best to leave it. “Rurik came, and he started blowing them up too. With me. I did not know what to think, because this had never happened before. And then I met council, and Miss Celestine, and you and...city is good place. I found where it is good.”

Yuuto nodded at her story, surprised at how… bitter Bak had sounded. Yuuto had never heard that tone from her before. However, it quickly passed, and Yuuto smiled at the end of her story. ”Is good that you have found where you belong. Void Wisdom say ‘Is not power that makes one strong. Is people to fight for and protect that gives one strength.’ Treasure friends, Bak. They will make you strong.” Yuuto dispensed the advice as if it were from a wise monk on top of a lone mountain peak.

Bak tilted her head, lost in thought. Was that really true? What about back in the village, when she had been alone. She had felt so much stronger back then. She stood alone against the scorn of the entire village and laughed as they broke themselves against her. So had she been protecting something from them? What? Who? She could only think of two people, but the villagers would never think to harm them.

Then who else could she have been protecting them from?
What was it that had made her so strong?
What was she doing wrong now?

“I will have to think about this.” she said, her voice making it obvious that she was taking what he had said maybe more seriously than even he had meant it. It took her a moment to remember that they were supposed to be having fun, she she pushed those questions down to perk back up. “If this is case then it would be better to spend more time with us. I will make you strongest shi-no-bi to ever live!”

As Bak’s head tilted, Yuuto saw some minor emotional conflict that she only betrayed in a few quick flashes of emotion. Confusion was chief among them. At first, Yuuto was worried he’d somehow managed to break the poor girl, but then her voice sounded out after what felt like an eternity. However, it was her declaration that stunned him. Him? The strongest shinobi ever? To stand up to the likes of Hanzo, Goemon, or even Fujibayashi? He smiled to Bak, and as only his eyes were covered by his mask, it was obvious it was a full beaming smile.

Link reared back his sword arm as the Cadet blocked Dark Link's kill stroke with an impromptu shield pulled from his satchel, stabbing forward but missing by inches as the shadow jumped back. Link leaped to his feet as the shadow came forward for another blow, but the Cadet hucked the shield right into the creatures chest. It mid air there was a flash of golden light and Link could only look on, dumbfounded, as some kind of doll clattered to the ground. All that remained of the dark imposter.

Link wasn't the only one confused. Green Cia paused her relentless assault on Frog as she saw her great champion, a work of art crafted from the most potent darkness in her heroes heart, reduced to a mere childrens toy. What did it matter though? She would just have to make a new one. There was such guilt and shame in this version of her heroes hearts, more than enough material for a dozen such soldiers. She raised her scepter, ignoring the crippled frog in front of her too level it at Link. The shaft began to burn with dark power, of spear of evil forming that would call without the darkness that festered within.

She never got the chance to fire it though. The Cadet pulled something else out of his bag of tricks and spores scattered throughout the restaurant. They stopped the bleeding on Link's back, mended the cut on Sephiroth's cheek, finished off what damage was left on Hat Kid that the honey comb hadn't taken care of, even soothed the pain of a few unlucky patrons that had been caught up in Cia's dark barrage. Most importantly, however, it made Frog well enough to fight.

Green only had enough time to look back at him when he spoke before the knight launched himself at her, letting out a pained gasp as he drove his holy sword deep into her heart. For the second time today the Masamune tasted a sorceresse's blood. Her scepter fell from her hand, the darkness upon it sputtering out like a flame with no oxygen. She stumbled backwards. One step. Two. Then, miraculously, she took a step forward and reached out a grafting hand over the Frogs head to Link. He watched, unable to read her expression through the mask. Was she still that desperate to possess him, even now? Or was the gesture a plaintive plea for her hero to save her?

He would never know. Like ash the sorceress dissolved, leaving behind only a Spirit that remained perched on the edge of Frog's blade.

Link didn't have time to pity her. On the other side of their table barricade things had begun exploding again.

At the same time Ace Cadet was bagging himself another sort of hunting trophy Sephiroth's plan was coming to fruition. He lunged out of the cloud of black smoke at a startled Purple. She only had enough time to bring her scepter down to try and parry the oncoming blow, but it was to swift. All she managed to do was avert an instant death as the blade slid into her stomach, this Masamune beating its counterpart across the restaurant by only a few seconds. She retched in pain, grabbing onto the blade with her free hand to try and keep it from biting deeper. If was difficult not to notice the surprising amount of power in that grip, or the fire that burned in the sorceresses crimson eyes. She clanged her scepter to the side of the blade, began to pull with her mutilated hand, and using her entire body as leverage attempted to drag the SOLDIER to the side into one of the dark land mine that still waited on the floor. Red saw what her counterpart was trying to do and stepped forward, raising her own scepter to brain Sephiroth with its spiked tip to make it easier.

They might have gotten away with it if an unexpected familiar face hadn't come to Sephiroth's aide. Launching herself out from under the table, Nadia took the opportunity the two Cia's made by bunching up by spinning her legs into them. Red caught a kick in the side and was pushed back a bit, while Purple was was hit in the back with enough force to slide her up Sephiroth's blade all the way to hilt. She tried to reach out and grab the man by the coat, still set on dragging him into one of the mines, but then Hat Kid came down like the icy hammer of god. The floor shook from her impact, launching both Cia's up off the ground. This served to just further gut Purple, but still her hands grasped to hold him still. Hold him there. She wasn't looking at him, however, but staring over his shoulder. Smiling, like she had a secret.

She was looking at Red, who hadn't come down from where Hat Kid's small earthquake had knocked her. If fact, she was slowly rising even higher. There was a burst of power that anyone that had ever seen Linkle fight might find familiar, like a dam being broken as all the momentum of the battle flowed out. She laughed and raised her scepter to the sky, and suddenly the area under Sephiroth, Nadia, and Hat Kids feet were filled with dozens of those same dark mines Purple had created earlier. Dozen of them all around them, and they didn't wait to go off. They erupted like a sea of volcanos, sending burning pillars of dark magic high into the air with enough force to pop the canvas awning above them like a flimsy balloon.

As Red descended down to the floor she knew that, no matter what, Purple would already be gone. She her used the very last of her strength to try and keep the man who had killed her in the epicenter of Red's Musou attack.

Behind her Blue used a nearby table to help her rise to her feet, take a deep breath, and forced magic to well up within her. A different surge of power rocked her body, one that only the Cadet might recognize, as Blue poured magic into her limbs as Linkle had done before she had fired her strongest attack at the Ender Dragon.

"No, not the same me at least." Link replied to Ace Cadet as they did their best to weather the Sorceresses barrage. Link had drawn his sword and shield again by this point, side jumping between the shots he could and bringing up the shield to block what he couldn't. He shuttered with every shot the shield took, not from the force but because this was a brand new shield and he hated blocking like this. As one of the orbs flew at him he set his feet and swung out with his shield arm as it reached him, but instead of flying back at one of the Cia's the thing just hit him in the chest like a baseball. He still didn't have the timing right. He took a cue from Ace and hit the next one with his sword as tried to remember if she had said anything on their date. Snippets of conversation rose though the haze. "She's met one of my incarnations. Maybe more, which makes her much older than she looks."

As for a play, he wasn't sure with the information they had. Luckily Frog, who had been busy evading the Green Cia's wire in addition to the magic barrage, rejoined them sans shield and gave him an idea. "Right, defense. She's angry. She doesn't just want us dead, she wants to kill us. She's not going to be satisfied with a battle of attrition. If we show her that won't work she'll come in close where we all have swords." Getting an idea, the sword and shield vanished from Links hand as he dived for the table he and Cia had been sitting at. Rising to his knees he grabbed the underside and lifted it up on its side, rolling it in the path of the oncoming shot to provide the three of them some cover, in Frogs case keeping him completely hidden. You could hear the balls bursting on the tables surface, but it held. "Draw her inGYAHHHH!"

When he had dismissed his weapons Dark Link, lurking in the periphery of the battle, had taken that opportunity to dive in and plunge his sword right into Links back. Surprising, though, the black blade hadn't gone all the way through. In fact as the dark warrior pulled it out it was apparent that it hadn't even managed to penetrant the heroes blue tunic, though the spot of red that began blossoming from the impact point showed that it had only mitigated the damage.

As Dark Link leaped to attack Green Cia was watching. As it jumped she scowled, tossed the shield the frog had used to block her line over her shoulder, and charged in to keep it from being completely overwhelmed. She swung for Frog again as she got close, standing her ground and lashing the detachable head at him in a series of surprisingly strong whip strikes she a woman of her frame. From this distance the sense she had gotten from the frog earlier was unmistakable to Cia. The miasma of old dark magic surrounded his body. She couldn't help but smile cruely. "My, you've met with a terrible fate haven't you?" She taunted.

Link's sword was back in his hand the moment his dark counterparts sword left his back and he turned with it extended in a counterstroke, but Dark Link blocked his stroke with his shield and was already swinging his own blade for the Ace Cadet's neck.

On the other side of the table from this claustrophobic melee an explosion rocked the restaurant.

Hat Kid caught the worst of the Cia's barrage, the women taking out their wrath most crueley on the child that had dared strike her even when the far more dangerous swordsman was in front of her. It was a cruelty that came back to bite them. As Sephiroth swirled primal fire in the palm of his hand and launched it at them Purple and Red dodged around the side where Green had gone, but Blue waited just long enough to fire a few more orbs at the child. When she began to run it was far too late, and she was largely engulfed when the spell went off. The explosion sent her rolling along the floor, one entire side of her scorched, mask half melted from the heat, gasping in pain.

From their new position Red and Purple sneered in unison. Red cast the tip of her mace out, knocking the scepter Frog had forced out of purples hand into the air and wrapping it in the wire. She yanked it back, landing it right in Purples hand. "Arrogant man." Red said as she began approaching him.

"I've made a fool of men far more formidable than you." Purple continued, following after her before moving off to the side. They were surrounding him.

"Stood before the King of Evil himself and not flinched." Red continued.

"What can you do?"
"What can you do?"

Red Cia summoned up that portal again as Purple flicked her staff. Around Purple four patches of turbulent darkness appeared, one right under Sephiroth's feet. Immediately the patch he was standing on began to surge with power, going off like a volcano of dark magic after but a moment as Red unleased another quartet of inferior dark Links to harry the SOLDIER further.

Meanwhile Blue opened her remaining good eye and laid it on Hat Kid. Still in the grips of pain she began to pull herself across the floor toward her. "Little brat," was all she managed to choke out as she continued her pursuit.

Linkle nodded along as the fire man explained about the villages local customs, giving the box another once over as he did. She would have to open it first then. A box like this would be no trouble for a god to open, but a person would only have a useless box when they brought it home unless they set it down on some loose money. She hoped the local currency was as compatible with it as Michael's green money.

Much more importantly, there was a man in black haunting this quaint little town. "I knew it." She said to herself as the bartender described how he came in to sit a spell every now and then. That seemed like odd behavior, but then again maybe he was waiting for them to reach this part of the world. She wondered if the pretty man in black that had taken her from the Dead Zone had bothered to tell his colleague about what he had done or if he had left it as a surprise. Either way all she had to do was find him the next time he came into town and then see what he knew. It had to be something. After all, from her experience they always seemed to know something. "Thanks' a lot, Mister." She said to the bartender.

Linkle looked down at the metal shards the other traveler, who had turned out to be an out-of-towner like her, with a hint of guilt over having nothing to offer the bartender but thanks for the information he had given her. Maybe she should have put that collapsed chest on the sled and dragged it all the way here if they were willing to accept weird metals as payment. She would have to give the bartender one of the gifts out of the lootbox once she managed to open it. His answer to the other girl was short and must have been disappointing. He was able to tell her where she was, but not the how or why of her being there.

"I know how." She added to the end of the Bartenders explanation. Turning to the girl, she offered freely. "Do you remember a bright light? That's how you ended up here. It carved up your world and added it to this one, along with everybody elses. We're a big old world soup now. Me and my friends were after the one responsible...when..."

She hesitated as she was interrupted by the growing rumble. As the dark shadow passed overhead, as the loud thump of footsteps made their way across the room, she looked back and forth from the source of the noise to Grillby as though to ask if this was normal. At least before whoever it was began pounding on the door yelling for someone unknown person to come out. That he knew what they were.

I tried to warn you.

"Shut up." She said under her breath.

You didn't listen, idiot.

No, no, the voice was calming down. That was a good sign. If this got bloody then it ended in death, there was no question about that. All fights in the Word of Light ended in death unless you saved the people involved. She looked around again. None of the regulars patrons seemed all that eager to answer the door. Linkle took a deep breath. Well, at least if he sucker punched her she wouldn't be force to fight him. "Hold that thought." She said to her fellow traveler as she strode up to the door and opened it a crack to see who it was outside. "I don't think anybody wants to fight, mister. Anything I could do to help?"
