Asher let out a yelp of surprise when he collided with someone rounding the corner, effectively drenching the both of them in dishwater. All he could do for a moment was watch in shock as the bucket rolled away. He said a quiet string of curses under his breath, most of them directed at the man who had gotten him into this situation in the first place. Spencer would never let him hear the end of this. He let out an irritated huff of air at the thought and began rubbing his sore fingers as he turned his head to look at the unlucky person he'd run into. If it was David, he'd be better off dead. His eyes widenned and his breath caught in his throat when Asher recognized the man standing before him as the prince. That was far worse than anyone he'd expected to run into in a servant hall. When ordered to speak, he started without thinking. "Spencer's been pickin' on me for weeks and callin' me weak and I wanted to punch him in the face, I really did, but I ended up carryin' that bucket instead and I would've been able to handle it, maybe if these halls weren't so damn narrow-" He stopped himself when he realized he had gone to muttering again. He had been gesticulating nervously during his rant, but now his hands were shoved in his pockets, eyes cast down as he watched the water drip off their clothes and onto the stone floor. "I can't lose this job," he said more to himself than the prince. "My family, I just..." He trailed off with a small groan. Surely he was done for. He'd spilt filthy water on the prince, of all people. He'd be kicked out of the castle by the day's end.
Luka paced up and down a quiet corridor of the barracks, eyes scanning the papers on his clipboard. The sound of shoes hitting wood in a steady rhythm was calming to him, but it wasn't nervous pacing, not quite. Perhaps apprehensive was the word. He'd never been given a task quite like this before, and he wasn't entirely sure how to go about it. Not the medical proceedures, that was simple. He'd been able to stabalize Devon and care for his wounds quick enough to save his life. But, the patient was scheduled to wake up within the hour, and Luka wasn't quite sure what to expect. "He's a difficult creature," one of the higher ups had said. "Wouldn't cooperate with anyone that wasn't his rider. And now that she's ... Well, we're afraid it'll be impossible to get him to work with anyone else." He gave Luka a smile a clapped a strong hand on his shoulder. "But you're a charismatic young man, Luka. If anyone can get him working again, it's you." He had talked about Devon as if he was broken and just needed a few repairs, but Luka wasn't a psychologist. What if he messed this up even further? Luka shook his head and halted his pacing. Worrying about it wasn't helping anyone. With as much conviction as he could muster, he rounded the corner and walked a few doors down to the medical room. Fist raised to the wooden door, he took a deep breath before knocking three times, then opening the door. He had expected to see Devon awake, but not with a cat on his lap. "I'm Luka Petrov," he said, eyebrows still slightly furrowed in confusion. "I've been taking care of you for the last few days. How're you feeling?" He smiled and took another small step into the room, not yet closing the door behind him.
Alright! Sorry for not posting yesterday, my wifi just loves to go out at inopportune moments.
Lyra still hasn't posted her creature, though I'm not sure if she was planning on making a male or a female.
Lucas Rowley
Age 19 Species Human Occupation Prince
Appearance
Lucas stands at just over 5'7 with an average build. His hair is a mess of tousled waves that are so dark brown in color they nearly look black. He inherited his dark hair and tan, freckled skin from his mother, while his eyes, mossy green with a circle of golden brown around the pupil, were inherited from his father. Lucas' most notable feature is his smile, bright and warm with a hint of mischief. He prefers to wear what his brother refers to as "peasant clothes" instead of his stiff prince attire and can be found barefoot whenever possible.
Personality
Lucas is everything you would expect from a handsome prince: charismatic, confident, and elusive. He's been trained to keep up appearances around dignified nobility, and as such knows how and when to be polite and act like the perfect gentleman. He absolutely despises acting that way though, and has been known to slip up at dinners and parties when his patience runs thin. Lucas is truly rather childish, despite being a young adult. He loves being the center of attention and finds amusement in the simplest of things. He also grows frustrated easily and has a short attention span. He's prone to pouting, holding short grudges, and resorting to sarcasm when irritated. He's also the type to cry with strong emotions, whether they be good or bad. He's fiercely protective of those he loves and stubborn in everything he does.
Background
Being the king's second born child, Lucas wasn't paid much attention growing up. It seemed all the adults in the castle were either settling affairs for the ill king's death or readying his older brother to take over the throne. This led Lucas to get into quite a lot of trouble as a young boy. His mother recognized his behavior as a cry for attention and put away as much time in her schedule as she could for her younger son, but that time ended up being an hour each evening at best. Before he went to bed, Lucas' mother would read him fairytales and sing him lullabies. The stories of far off lands in addition to what he learned of other cultures with his tutor fueled Lucas' desire to travel outside the castle walls. This desire manifested itself on many occasions. Growing up, Lucas tried to leave the grounds several times. Eventually, they put him to work in the kitchen when he wasn't with a tutor to keep him occupied during the day. He was educated in math, literature, history, and several languages, as well as sword fighting. He was intended to learn horseback riding, but after nearly getting trampled to death, it was impossible to get him near a horse, much less on its back. Even with all of this, Lucas still managed to escape the castle grounds one day and explore the surrounding village. It was there he witnessed a man getting killed for stealing and found an orphaned boy a few years older than him. He declared himself to be this boy's family and had him taken back to the castle. There was much debate over what to do with the boy, but Lucas' mother insisted they keep him as a servant. She then told the boy that his most important job was watching over Lucas. It was a bit of a challenge to get the boy to open up at first, but Lucas was intrigued by him and found it to be fun. He learned the boy's name was Cain Northe, and from there the two of them grew very close. But, it wasn't until Elliot became king and his mother was killed that Lucas began to realize just how much Cain meant to him. Elliot threatened to have the servant exiled from the castle or even killed on several occasions, none of which Lucas told him about. His brother got a kick out of seeing him fiercely defend Cain, calling him pathetic and then playing it off as a joke each time. Lucas still feared that Elliot would go through with his threats, knowing how much amusement it brought the man to see him crushed.
Ambitions
Lucas still dreams of traveling and experiencing different cultures. He also wants to see the end of his brother's rule and find away to protect the people of the kingdom, especially Cain.
Fears
Lucas fears loneliness, his brother, abandonment, horses, and losing Cain.
Other
Three of the freckles on his left shoulder blade are perfectly aligned like the constellation Orion's Belt.
General Information
Pairing Prince (Ghost) and Servant (Tene) Plot When the king lost his life to illness, his eldest son, Elliot became the king at the age of 15. As history shows, putting a teenager in a position of power almost never ends well, and Elliot was no exception. He became obsessed with power and money. The only thing standing in his way of taking complete control of the kingdom was his mother, who had quite a bit of power in the monarchy. The people trusted her and her word above that of their new king. It wasn't long before she died of mysterious circumstances. Rumors of the king poisoning his own mother ran rampant throughout the entire kingdom. Elliot brushed them off, feigning grief over the death of both his parents in such a short time. Once the air settled, Elliot began raising the taxes on the lower classes. Food grew scare outside the castle walls while the nobility was spoiled with luxuries. Whenever he was questioned, Elliot would claim divine right and blame the hardships of the kingdom on the lower classes. The whole kingdom had completely forgotten about the old king's second son and Elliot's younger brother, but he would become a public spectacle in due time. With Elliot married (a political move) and expecting a child, he decided that it was time his younger brother got married as well, if only to ease tensions with a neighboring kingdom.

Nah, it was great! Quick question though, besides the room Devon's in, how do you imagine the barracks to be built? Like dirt or cement floors, and a complex or seperate housing blocks?
@Savi: What's the minimum amount of characters we need before we start? ^^
Asher heaved out a heavy sigh as he placed an ornate fork on the counter in front of him and leaned back on his stool. He'd been polishing utensils for nearly an hour and was only just over halfway finished. He was typically stuck with tedious tasks like polishing, washing, and cleaning. He glanced across the kitchen at the men cooking and baking, friendly chatter mixing with the sounds of meal preparation. Cooking was something Asher liked to do, something he was good at. It was also what he thought he had signed up to do when he said he wanted to work in the kitchen, but apparently scullions were in higher demand than cooks. There were only two others aside from him, David, the chief scullion, and Spencer, an arrogant prick. Asher shook his head a bit and picked up another dirty fork. "Goddamn taxes paying for this fancy silverware," he grumbled to himself as he resumed his polishing. "Talkin' to yourself again, kid?" The voice grated on his nerves. Asher turned his head to glare at Spencer, who had walked up behind him carrying a bucket. "What've you got to complain about when you always get the easy jobs?" He was right, but Asher wasn't going to tell him that. Instead, he turned back to his work with a "Go away, Spencer." Recently, the guy wouldn't stop bothering him. He thought he was entitled to picking on whoever he wanted because his dad was a member of the nobility, and Asher was his new favorite target. Spencer scoffed at the dismissal. "I bet you couldn't handle half the shit I do." He knew Asher wouldn't back down from a challenge. Asher took the bait, immediately whipping back around to glare at Spencer once again. "I could do your work blindfolded," he spat out without thinking. "Interesting wager," Spencer replied with a laugh, "but how's about we see if you can dump out this dishwater first." He shifted the large bucket in his arms, a bit of soapy water sloshing out the side. Asher pulled his leg out of the way as the water hit the ground, then stood up from his stool. "Easy." He waved his fork and rag before setting them on the counter. "But you have to finish polishing." "Easy," Spencer echoed with a smug grin. "Catch." Asher fumbled to get a solid grip on the bucket when Spencer shoved it into his arms, and nearly dropped it right there. It was heavier than he expected, and his fingers were already tired from rubbing at utensils, but Asher got a decent hold on the bucket and cast one last glare at Spencer before leaving the kitchen. Asher had never been very strong. The muscle he did have was from carrying supplies for his mother and helping his father chop firewood. He was thankful he didn't have to carry it very far, just through a corridor and then outside. Asher was focusing on not dropping the bucket so much that he hardly noticed footsteps coming down the corridor.
Ashton Rowles
Age 18 Height 5'10 Occupation Scullion
Personality
Asher's not the type to fancy staying cooped up in a castle. Adventurous and curious, Asher's dreamt of traveling since he was young. With those dreams dashed by his indefinite servitude, Asher's resentful toward the nobility and often grumbles under his breath while working. He can be rather wary and defensive around people he doesn't really know and has a strong sense of pride. He's often chided for having an attitude and talking back, but ensuring his family's safety means too much to him for him to do anything drastically out of line. He doesn't have a lot of patience and gets irritated as easily as he gets flustered. Despite being hard-headed, Asher is friendly and caring towards people he likes and becomes extremely loyal to people he cares for.
Background
Asher grew up in a village not too far from the castle. His mother was a seamstress and his father was a blacksmith. Together, the two of them were able to support a family, so they planned on having more kids. His mother miscarried once, then lost an infant to disease. Distraught, she vowed to never attempt to have another kid and focused her energy on her work and Asher. His father was growing increasingly bitter as he grew older and began drinking more frequently. Once he had to quit his job due to a back injury, he devoted all his time and money to drinking and gambling. When the family couldn't pay their taxes, Asher offered to serve in the castle in exchange. He's been working as a scullion for almost four months.
Strengths/Weaknesses
