Hey folks! This is a reboot/rebranding of an older idea. I originally started to set it up as a 1x1, but had so many ideas for the setting that I wanted to try to expound it.

Here's the premise in a nutshell:

A slice of life story, set in a steam punk, faux-Victorian world, and focused on a school for mad scientists.

I have a few ideas for sort of "events" to stir up drama, but it will be pretty sandbox, though with a pretty small box.

I may still be adding to the lore, and if you have any questions, feel free to ask. Your questions might help shape the world, and I'm always open to suggestions!

Regarding setting and culture: This RP takes place in Europe in the first half of the 19th century, however it is obviously very much alternative history, bordering real close on fantasy. I'm not going to be a huge stickler for historical accuracy, as long as we make a reasonable effort to keep things thematic.

If we find that we need to specify a year, we can(or if anyone is enough if a history buff to have a suggestion, feel free).
And society in our alt history is going to be a good deal more progressive. Hence the co-ed classes, and people of all backgrounds attending school together.

Regarding posting standards and pacing:
I have no requirements for post length, as long as grammar and spelling are reasonable, and the post makes narrative sense. Sometimes short posts are called for, and sometimes long posts are inappropriate. Just make sure that it's furthering the story.

I don't usually have a posting order, just try not to post back to back. I'd like to see everyone post about once a week, but if we get in a groove and go faster, that's fine. Let us know if there's a delay, or if you need us to skip you or auto-pilot your character.

Regarding rules: I'm pretty casual, so follow site rules, be respectful, and we should be fine. If I ask something to be changed, I'll usually allow you to argue your case, but reserve the right to make all final decisions.

This RP is meant to be inclusive, and the one thing I will not tolerate is disrespect toward your fellow players.

I considered having Audrey notice his absence, but I feel like I'm doing a lot already.
Sorry people aren't doing so hot! I also had a bad time yesterday, but it is my weekend, and things are looking up.

I was wondering, Fading, if you had something in mind for the ring Audrey acquired. Unlike many of the others, she immediately put it away, and Eckehart probably didn't even see it, but I figured I'd ask.

Audrey Springer

"And now that all is clear, your friend's anger is more than justified. You have my apologies, young mistress, for all of this is peculiar and I did not think anything out of the ordinary until now. I will take it upon myself the task of searching for your matching bell, should the princess not have any insights."

Audrey bore the criticism of her friends with her arms crossed, and her newly splotched face set. It wasn't until Eckehart himself finally seemed to grasp the situation that she loosened up, dropping one hand to her hip, and lifting her other in a "there you go" gesture.

"Yes! Thank you! But there's something else; this sealing ceremony is like a yearly thing. We ring the bell once a year, but this is the first time this has happened, right? " she looked around at the group at large, as if one of them would suddenly announce that their uncle came here every year and brought them souvenirs.

Eckehart's genuine concern and confusion went a long way toward easing her anger, at least towards him. But the more she thought about it, the more it seemed like something nefarious definitely was going on.

"So it sounds like the matching bell is missing, and that that's weird. But it also seems like something had to be done on this end for the bell to even work, yeah? Like, I dunno, they have to be rung at the same time or something? Look, I'm gonna go along, we'll talk to the princess. But it sounds like someone did this to us on purpose, and if I find out it was her... Well, she's not gonna make friends that way."
Question: the bell rings every year in New Hope, right?
“... Or take a shit for that matter. Not that I’ve checked to see if I—you know what, not the time.”

"Hey, 'Brose, did, uh, did you shit yourself?"
Yeah, exactly! Brown probably already knows what little writing there is on local stories, and his relationship with the Bilica family can help, too. Audrey would never be able to interview Stoat, lol. Plus just being generally more familiar with writing and record keeping.

Audrey, meanwhile, already has passing familiarity with a lot of Hickory's older friends, from running his errands, so she'll be doing a lot of the legwork for finding people and getting their stories.

EDIT: By the by, I'm good to keep this back and forth with Eckehart going, but anyone else can feel free to stop Audrey at any time.

"Yeah, that all sounds fucking great, but it's a little late for 'our own choices,' wouldn't you say, Eckehart?" she spoke his name as if it were meant to hurt him. "We already didn't get a choice in coming here. And I didn't ask if I could walk away, I asked if I could go home. Is that within your power or not?"

It seemed like he wasn't personally responsible for bringing them here, and she very much doubted he actually could help reverse it.

@Fading Memory
@PerfectThought I have a proposition: during the time skip, Audrey and Brown work together at gathering local folklore from older townsfolk. They could make a sort of Gravity Falls esque journal, comparing the stories people tell to their own experiences in Yo'Kibur during the prologue.

"Aud, do you believe in destiny?" Rowan pulled Audrey's attention from Toby, who seemed to be having a worse time by the minute. "These stones have been here a long time. But if I didn't know any better..."

Yeah, actually. But what do the cobblestones have to do..." she trailed off, looking at a smaller carving off to the side. It depicted a girl in ceremonial garb, she stood on a boat and rang a bell. It so much resembled their own town’s ritual, that it made her wonder if there was a connection between their home and this place they had been stolen away to. It made her think of Weeping Sam. Lost forever, never to see his family again.

"I got a question too," she actually raised her hand, like they were in class. Her other hand squeezed Toby's, "If I said I didn't want to meet the princess. That I'd rather just go home, would you let me? Or is it even your choice?"
