Okay, before I say or do anything, I just wanna say that this is EXTREMELY LONG AND I APOLOGIZE IN ADVANCE. Also, I had a friend who gave me this idea a long time ago in an RP we were in together but I've lost contact with them. So I dedicate this RP to them!
Anyway, here goes!
The Council of the Blue Moon”Those who hear me… I, Orsus, the first god have called forth the Council- those who have been tasked to do whatever it takes to protect the lands that we have formed… the lands that we were so solemnly sworn to rule over and to watch… but have now developed far outside of our reach due to those who we have sealed. I call you all here to say that it is time to expand our numbers, to expand our numbers to give rise to new children and gods to lead the lands and interact with the children of the Earth,” spoke the cloaked and hooded tall man as he stretched his arms towards his brothers and sisters.”From this moment forth, The Council of the Blue Moon hereby opens forth the realms and allows the gods to mingle with each other and to watch over the Realms of Earth, Animals, Demons, Angels, Spirits, and all!” spoke another hooded figure as she stood up and walked towards Orsus’ side. The message rang far and wide through the realms as the rest of the councilors stood up, until all nine were standing along the table. “All questions are to be directed to me, Tempus, God of Time… in the meantime, behave yourselves and watch over the realms,” spoke the third figure as he sat down while the others faded from the room.
Okay, so this is an RP which requires quite a bit of world building to make sense... Although, to put things simply, we will be playing as Gods.
Woo-hoo!
Anyway, here are quite a few terms that I'm sure you'll want to read up upon if you're interested.
—Gods —
Gods are a kind of Deity, usually on the top tiers of power who make a claim on the world, the souls within and in turn obtain a great amount of worshipers and the powers they provide.
They are beings which are defined not by their origin but by their power, which can change the shape of reality and possibly give birth to new worlds given enough time. They can change their shape, change the world around them, call upon the souls of the dead and shift between worlds and realities. Thus a Deity could come from any origin as long as they reach the point where they wield enough power to do so. They could be the offspring of another Deity, a spirit representing a strong concept, a monster or supernatural entity of myth which has lived long or obtained enough power to ascend in rank, a human soul which has ascended beyond the mortal... the possibilities can and are endless.
~ ~ ~— Realm: Earth —
This is the realm on which modern day planet Earth can be located. It has had a long and rather… interesting history with the gods and their kind. Currently it is a neutral zone for the Council of the Blue Moon on which great displays of power are being forbidden by the current ruling God, Orsus, the God of Beginning and Creation.
A multitude of smaller gods and deities have settled here enjoying the relative peace that is to be found in this realm designated as Earth. While it can be common to fine minor displays of power, conspiracy and even conflict spark from time to time, it is for the most part a relatively safe place. Gods are forbidden from breaking the neutrality pact here, unless they are wanting a quick end.
~ ~ ~— Animus Domain —
An Animus Domain, or an AD, is a dimension made entirely by a God to act as their home, base, or personal realm. It takes a great deal of effort and power to bring forth such a place. At their beginning they tend to be small, rarely more than a simple house or anything of the sort by the psyche of their creator. However, after gaining strength, this can grow from a simple house to many, many kilometers in range to a vast castle with villages, a modern city, or something rivaling the roman’s cities. An AD may shift and change due to the mood and musings of their God, since while it may be a realm of its own, it is still merely the manifestation of their creator’s dream and imagination. However, given enough time and power their creator can give true and definitive form to their realm, making it more durable and stable, something that won't ever change or dissolve even without them to keep it there.
~ ~ ~— Realm: Spirit World —
A world which is immediately adjacent to the realm of Earth. This would be the world in which Souls, including their energy and even supernatural events and beings, can be seen for what they are without having to manifest into the actual realm Earth. Auras, Astral Projections, and other such things tend to be the product of a mortal being gazed upon from the Spirit World.
~ ~ ~— Souls —
Every living thing, including the supernatural possesses what one would call a soul. It is the source of spiritual power- the very essence of a being. Every soul naturally produces energy, some a lot more and some a lot less. This energy has a lot of names and it is used to maintain the functions of one’s body, however this is also the energy that is necessary for Divine Feats and all sorts of supernatural phenomena. All souls tend to produce more energy than that which is required to sustain itself.
Supernatural beings utilize this left over energy to be able to do all sorts of things, however, most mortals are unaware of this energy and know not how to make use of it. Thus, a lot of supernatural beings wish for this energy and do their best to make claims on it. One of the most common claims is that of the claim of worship. When one worships, or thinks strongly about a God, this energy resonates with such a God, bestowing them some of it. Beyond your own soul, having all kinds of claims over that of others is useful in that it provides you with extra energy and power, allowing you to achieve dominance over other Gods if necessary. A strong and mighty spiritual being can lay all sorts of claims over the soul of others, be it in the form of pacts, being worshiped or simply by brute force. Gods receive energy from the prayers and belief of the souls of their worshipers as well as those dwelling within their AD.
Of course, there is but a twist to this, for not all souls are worth the same. The souls of ordinary humans produce less energy than that of famous figures who have done mighty feats and earned the respect and worship of others of their kind. The souls of such beings, besides being remarkable and stronger on their own, are further enhanced and empowered by their tales. Those who remember them, respect them and worship them unconsciously provide these souls with energy in a manner similar to how a God among the Blue Moon Council themselves receive power.
~ ~ ~—Artifacts —
To put it simply, Artifacts are theoretically magical or legendary items. They obtain attributes either through their creation or some due to their legend from which they were found. While their power varies, they all tend to be useful tools. Let’s take for example the famous weapon Excalibur, the sword belonging to King Arthur. This Artifact would possess the attribute of a great blade, holy and given its legend it would make its user a greater swordsman along with some other... possible bonuses that would have to be discussed. So, in the possession of a God or a Hero, such a weapon could be used to create any of those effects. However, for a God, the shape of such a weapon could be malleable, and for you simple folks; transformable. While its original form will always be a blade, a God could change its form to fit it within, say, a gun and thus bestow its properties into the bullets fired by it. These Artifacts are highly sought by spirits, gods, and beings of all kinds and can all go for a hefty price. Even though most of these are linked to a particular hero or soul, unless crafted by a God themselves, there is no guarantee at all that the hero that possessed the weapon in life was able to get it back in death. Indeed, the Hero having such a weapon is the exception rather than the rule. Keep that in mind.
~ ~ ~— Heroic Spirits —
The souls of those mortals which have gone beyond the boundaries of the rest, and have become something more; heroes. Some of these are remembered as great chivalrous knights who sacrificed themselves or important figures in the history of humanity who led countless armies... or some who overthrown tyrants… while some may have never had their praises sung, but even still they remain as powerful and wise souls who have now transcended to the status as heroes. As mentioned earlier, these souls are highly sought by deities for all kinds of purposes; some for personal reasons, some for powerful allies and enforcers.
However, there is something which must be noted that one must know about the Heroic Spirits which have obtained great renown. As time passes and their legends shift and change, these Heroic Spirits might have embraced these changes. This is a way for Heroic Spirits to grow in power, develop new personas and integrate new into themselves. Some also develop some sort of alternate personality as their legend changes.
Despite this, some may refuse these changes and remain steadfast in their origin. This is, indeed, another form of strength, in which they stand fast by who they are. However, this leaves the impression and expectations of this new legend unanswered. In such cases, it is highly possible that a wandering spirit with a low identity embraces this legend and then becomes it or if the legend is strong enough, it might create a new soul to carry its expectations and legacy.
~ ~ ~— Monsters and Supernatural Beings —
Aside from the mortals, there also exist the supernatural beings which have appeared since the dawning of man. The origin of these creatures are not what is truly important, but what truly matters is that these beings do exist in some way or form.
In current times, those residing on Earth exist either in disguise and hiding, isolated areas or mostly within the Spirit World. Some of these creatures are poor savages who wield their powers without true understanding of it. Some are cunning and strong, seeking further power in order to rise in status and sate whatever craving their soul has for them. Some are powerful legendary beasts, spirits of legend and divine messengers of the Council of the Blue Moon.
Some, however, have become old and powerful enough to become Gods in their own rights and some have become mighty enough to rule other Realms. These souls too, are highly valuable for their varied skills, powers and abilities.
~ ~ ~— Oaths —
Oaths refers to the obligation a soul might have to another. These claims can manifest in the form of energy exchange, labor obligations or complete ownership of a soul. As mentioned before, there are many ways to lay claim to another soul and indeed, there is a large exchange of souls through the realms.
~ ~ ~— The Titans —
Another category that tends to be on the upper pavilion of power are the Titans. These are the very essence of a concept of reality that must be feared. Even though there might be many Gods and lesser Deities with mastery over fire and some who even embody it, there can only be one Archetype of Fire, the ultimate one true source of it, the prime representation of the concept. Unlike Gods, Deities, or any other creature for that matter, Titans do not tend to have egos and personalities or at the very least, none except the Blue Moon Council has seen them to know much about them. They simply exist... silently in their domains without leaving. Why they have yet to show themselves is not known.
Nonetheless, while their power might be borrowed by one which embodies and understands their concept, the Titans are untamable and are absolute.
Alright then, that is most of the concepts that will show up in the setting. I know it is a lot to go through and that some things might not make much sense, so if you have any questions I'll be willing to answer them.
Now, here goes the Character Sheets!:
Name: What name do you go by? Age: Not really necessary… considering you’re a god, but whatever I guess? Gender: Again, you’re a god. Many Gods have one, but once again, may or may not apply Appearance: Now for the fun part. As a God, your form is quite mutable and can be quite a malleable concept, but there certainly is a look or an appearance that has to be the most favorite for even the picky of shapeshifters, no? Remember, take into account that since Gods can travel between Realms, their preferred looks might change to accommodate the Realm they are in. You might want to take the form of a man or woman in a hooded cloak while in a medieval setting while wearing a dress in present day Earth or as an eagle while in the Animal Realm; although it is ultimately up to you, disrupting the balance of things will cause chaos and ultimately bring upon troubles upon you from your fellow Gods. Personality: So tell us what does your God act like? Are they overly proud or something? Do they have a thirst for knowledge or do they prefer blood and fighting? Are they pleasant and kind or opposite? You know how things are by now. Motivation: I find this to be an important thing for things tend to flow better when there is something your character wants or desires. Go nuts here. I want your God to have desires, wishes, expectations and dreams. Do they want to be the king of all gods, or do they want to conquer all the realms or tame all the beauties that they fine? Do they want to satisfy their knowledge? Find the perfect foe? Perhaps obtain the soul of their dreams or the lover of their life… whatever it may be and whatever it could be write it out here and tell me for that is what will drive your character forward. Likes and Dislikes: So… what do you like? Hate? Support? What do they fight? Origin/Bio: Tell us… how did you come to be? Are you an Ascended human? Were you a lowly monster that climbed the ranks of the Supernatural through age and power? There are many options available to you here. Oath: Now this one is optional, however, by fulfilling the oath, depending on it, a reward may be granted. To put it simply does someone have an oath with you? Do you owe any favors that you might need to repay? Owe someone that prays to you who rightfully deserves and has earned a miracle or two? Or… perhaps maybe do you maybe have a powerful Parent or Master that pulls your strings? Abilities and Possessions: Finally we come to the part where I’m sure everyone has been waiting for, but this is also the part that is a bit unconventional when it comes to the character sheet. See… I’m going to describe a few abilities and powers of the Gods... and you will have Ten Points to spend on getting the abilities you want as strong as you want them. Yeah, I know that this kind of sucks, but this is for balancing issues and to avoid many conflicts, but don’t worry, points may be granted as I see fit, for you may grow stronger and get things beyond what you get in the beginning. Remember, this is only how your character is at the beginning of the RP; even though you’re a God, you’re not like those of the Council. Also, if you want something for your character that you don't see anywhere here you may discuss with me and we'll see if it gets added to the list. Do note that in most of these cases you will need to specify which form the bonus takes in for your particular character. Also, just to make things clear, don't just assume you get the complete package by sinking points into a specific, because you’re not.
Physical Form: The might and physical prowess of your character's physical form. This particular skill covers strength, resilience, shapeshifting, speed, reflexes, agility, and all the other abilities which would help your character fight and maneuver in the world with nothing but their own physical body. Maximum of five points might be spent on this skill.
Mastery of Magic: The prowess of your character's magical skills. How proficient you are at weaving spells, calling upon the elements, altering the image of reality and other such feats. Since the possible effects and shapes of magic are so numerous and wide, you will need to explain and give a clear and deep description of what your character indulges in. No secrecy or silly word play to give a hidden boost; must be plain as the eye can see for everyone to understand. Maximum of five points can be spent on this skill.
Animus Domain: The AD; by sinking just one point into this skill, your character can create their own small imaginary realm. Upon it, they may create their own abode, store items and souls, host parties or whatever they may desire. Further points sunk into it expand the scope of the realm, let you call upon it to overwrite the place where you are (a task such as this one can be hard to accomplish), solidify it to make it more permanent and stable, among other effects. Maximum of five points might be sunk here. Also, describe your imaginary realm here in full effect if you buy points into it, please.
Souls: What kind of souls does your character have oaths with? One point grants access to owning completely a lesser, heroic spirit. A lesser Heroic spirit tend to be in general either of a lower power level than a greater one or the side characters of a story. Otherwise, one point lets you have a ‘claim’ on a greater Heroic Spirit, letting you summon the greater Hero for small amounts of time to assist in combat or any other endeavor. Two points lets you own a greater heroic soul. You may also have instead spend a single point into obtaining numerous generic souls. May it be a hundred ordinary humanoids of the modern world or say fifty roman soldiers ready to fight at your behest? The details of this will need to be discussed of course. There is no limit on the points you may spend into this ability starting out.
Supernatural beings: Like souls, but instead creatures of legend. May cross over into Souls with supernatural heroes who are of inhuman origin, in which case that hero may be signed up on either field. Spend points here to obtain medusas, hellhounds, demons, vampires, werewolves, spirits and other such creatures to serve your cause. This ability, as well, may need to be discussed to reach an agreement.
Artifacts: One point per artifact, the stronger the Artifact the more points that may be required for it as ruled by me. I want the item to be described fully; legend, abilities, and all. If I think it is reasonable I will allow it, if not then we will try to come to an agreement, I’m not mean after all. You may also create your own artifact, but given the fact that it’s a custom made item, expect it to be a tad weaker than an artifact from legend unless you sink more points into it.
Vessel Creation: A bit of an interesting and a specialty skill, but one that is useful nevertheless. This skill represents the expertise of a god who’s into creating physical bodies and creatures. This skill is most useful to interact directly with Earth due to the spell effected upon it, which severely limits the supernatural within this space. Thus a highly supernatural God might find it tiring to move and remain within Earth in their true bodies, even if they are hidden. With this ability, a God might create a completely mortal vessel which they might possess, leaving their true essence elsewhere. Being in a normal body, which respects the rules of Earth which the Blue Moon council have placed upon it will result in a lot less energy wasted when interacting with that space. Additionally, they might create bodies for the Souls they own to inhabit within Reality Earth, which is less tiring than maintaining the materialization of such a Soul. With one point you may create up to four human vessels when visiting Earth. With more points you may create a lot more of vessels and are not restricted to human shapes. Animals and even plants are available as well with points spent into this skill. Outside of Earth, this skill remains useful still, as without the spell which limits supernatural powers, you may create vessels that are a lot more powerful and not grounded in reality. Thus monstrous shapes are available to use and possess. While these are weaker than the real things, they still can be dangerous and make for a safer alternative than direct confrontations as you will only be slightly harmed if your vessel is destroyed as opposed to taking the full blunt of the damage if you were fighting with your real self. Up to five points may be spent into this skill.
And with that giant wall of text placed right there, I complete the interest thread OP! If there's any questions, comments, or anything of the like, feel free to throw them my way and I'll be happy to answer them.
