Bio

Hello,

I am Gordoth Enodious. I call myself that way. It is not my actual name, but for the purposes of a forum I'll remain Gordoth.

Concerning my experience with roleplaying, I cannot say I am experienced, but neither can I say I am inexperienced. I have tried roleplaying, but I've never managed to hold a group together for any longer than, say, three or four days, as they lost interest in the process. I consider myself literate, but I'd think everyone on this here forum IS literate.

In connection to the preferences I display when dealing with roleplaying, I'd say I have two, those being Fantasy and Science Fiction, however I am more than interested in participating in all kinds of activities hosted by the Guild.

And about me. I am a rookie writer of fiction literature. I enjoy playing video games of all kinds. As is to be expected by one who visits forums such as this one, I am more keen on experiencing stories. I enjoy reading all kinds of literature, I partake in the viewing of many movies and I relish in observing art.

That's about as much as is needed, I'd say. Overall, consider me a jack of all trades. I will ask for tips and explanations, as I am not familiar with the process of roleplaying on a forum. I am enthusiastic about all of this, so holler if you feel like it.

"You can not understand me. Not because it is something that can not be understood, but because you lack the knowledge needed. You can not understand, simply because you have not lived. Only once you have seen that, which I have seen, will you be able to see something. Only once you experience the horrors, experienced by myself, will you understand. Through living after the suffering I have lived through, will you understand. Are those things you can experience? Are those things you can go through in one hundred years, eighteen of which you lack the clarity of mind needed to be human? I fear it is not possible. I fear that becoming human, at this moment, depends on understanding. But not everyone can understand. Why, then, is it that you are all considered humans? None of you seek to understand each other. None of you even seek to understand others. I fear it. I fear this thing, which you call human, is not what truly is a human. You have lost the understanding of the word you use to describe yourselves. Without knowing what you are, without understanding it... You can not understand me."

Karaulish slowly made his first step into the field of battle. Not exactly. He had not crossed the bridge, but leaving the shadow of the grand coliseum's innards was somewhat of an entrance into a whole different realm. His snowy hair was ruffled by the soft winds as they seemed to greet his careful approach. The waters around him, as still as a picture, remained littered with old leaves, new leaves, and maybe many bones.

With heavy steps he walked onto the bridge, and stopped at its center. At this very moment he was as far away as he was as near to the arena, at one foot and a half. His spear was strapped to his back, his swords - to his belt, and he felt ready to face the opponent who would come out of the door opposite of his. He had come in through the northern entrance, so his adversary would enter through the southern one. To his right was situated the mighty oaken tree, which had carved a path through the stone. To his left was situated a field, prime for battle.

He made one more step and stood in wait.
The arena was not grand at all. It was barely an arena. Old, crumbling, seemingly bursting at the seams, the construction had once been great and mighty, but at this very moment it was just a remnant of a time past. Vines had slowly grown along the walls of the building, and were now cozily sleeping in the cracks, formed by the sandstone to accommodate them. This had once been a grand coliseum, visited by hundreds, maybe even thousands, to observe battles with magnitudes far greater than that of the fight which would take place here today.

The arena was framed by a thin, artificial river, about three feet in width, which made an oval spiral on the inner side of the walls, framing the once perfectly plain, now somewhat uneven floor, upon which battle occurred. Beyond the small river, which was crossed by a pair of bridges, ten feet in width respectively, rose the massive walls of the old coliseum. Even if ancient and rickety, it still instilled a sense of dread within those who entered, those who remained and those who died.

The field upon which battle took place was different, when compared to what it had been years ago. The once sandy surface had been watered by rains to the point where plants freely grew upon it. Even though it had been changed into a healthy environment for nature to regrow, it was still somewhat controlled. Most of the field was barren of any biological lifeforms, safe for short grass. The only exception was a tall, mighty oak which had grown into the easternmost wall, cracking it even more, obstructing the field of battle with a few roots, bleaching underneath the scorching sun.
Let's go Lana, I'm ready, character is ready. Stuff's about to go down, right?

@FalloutJack Yeah, try using Bishop's character sheet as an example. Other than that, you're free to throw whatever it is you want to throw in.
@Potclean Then start reading and working on that character sheet!
I'm glad you're interested, and I can't wait for you to join!
@OrkytheOrc The name is a little goofy, and there are some minor grammatical mishaps, but other than that you're approved. Slap it on the Characters tab and jump in.
Gurr'Kha - The Dead World

I'm a little late but I guess I should actually do this.

Hello, and welcome, to the amazing interest check for the even more amazing roleplay, Gurr'Kha - The Dead World!

I am Gordoth, the fancy schmancy GM of the role play and I am going to be selling it to you!

Thinking of how to begin, I figured that something unique and not often done in roleplaying or in literature as a whole, was the apocalypse in a medieval setting, but with magic. As it turns out, I had just the world/setting ready to fire up and go.

But how does the apocalypse come in this world? It's a fantastical place, Gurr'Kha, and so it would need a very fantastical way of going into an apocalypse. Thing is, the more of Gurr'Kha was very convenient, as some strange entity was going around and was killing Gods, so why not have it kill all of them and bring about the end of the world?

Thus, we have a medieval world, with the technological advancements of:
-every civilization set in the Elder Scrolls universe, excluding the Dwemer
-every civilization set in the World Of Warcraft universe, excluding gnomes, goblins and dwarves
-every civilization in the Gothic universe
-every civilization in the Witcher universe
-every civilization in the Game of Thrones universe
-every civilization in Middle Earth
-And so on, you should get the picture

That world experiences a cataclysmic event, and said event leads to:
-wilting, or straight up death, of most crops
-madness among the animals
-madness among every clergy, for obvious reasons
-loss of magical power among every clergy, holy order or cult - No Gods to give power to their servants
-mass panic amongst the intelligent races
-fear (for everyone)
-the appearance of zones, characterized by magical anomalies, which cannot be scryed through magical means and need to be physically visited to be explored. Said magical anomalies vary from mass undeath, through giant mushrooms, to rolls of cheese falling from the sky
-the birth of new species, many of which are simple pairings of two other types of animals, others being new animals all together, and third being unexplainable amalgamations and / or abominations
-potentially new intelligent races (you could be one)
-the collapse of the established day and night cycle, leading to days as long as twenty hours and nights lasting only four, or twenty four hours periods of no sunlight
-new weather patterns and events, such as water going up to the sky instead of falling down during rainstorms, fire falling from the sky, light being sucked out of an area for a period of time and more!

If that doesn't get you curious, then the inevitable delve into ruins of destroyed civilizations will, as there are bound to be many long and descriptive posts of scenery! There will also be lore for you and the group to uncover, and you might even meet some significant characters along the way. There will be action, fear not.

Your character can be any creature you can think of in a fantasy setting, and I will allow it, most likely. You'll need to fit in the S.P.E.C.I.A.L. stat system which will have a bit of influence on how the roleplay goes, as I want to incorporate at least some dice rolling. You can read about it on the actual thread.

I'll be thankful if you tell me it's a nice idea, and ecstatic if you tag along, so let me know what you think!
