ALISSA / TYRIAN
Tyrian heard the scratching and turned toward the noises.
"Hank, hold on, we can help you out of there." He stood up with Alissa and carried her to the diamond enclosure. "Alissa," he said softly, "can you help Hank out?"
Alissa looked up, sniffed, and nodded slowly.
"All you need to do is shapeshift and break up the ground. Can you do that?"
Alissa hesitated, but nodded again. She reached deep down into that little ball of energy that was inside her and imagined an elephant. She began to shift, but only ended up as a baby elephant.
Concerned, Tyrian laid his paw-hand on her head. "Wanna try that again? How about a rhinoceros?"
Alissa sighed and tried again, managing to become a baby rhino.
Tyrian glanced at Hank through the glass. "This is not good..."
Alissa shifted back into herself. "I'm sorry..." she muttered.
"This is not your fault. This was Grundy's fault. He did this. And you toasted him to a crisp." Tyrian picked her up and carried her several yards away. "I have an idea. Just stay here, okay?" He set her down gently by the building and strode back to Hank. "Hank, I need you to stand back from this side of the case. I think I can help you break up the asphalt on the outside."
Tyrian flew up into the sky, just enough for a proper divebomb, and hovered for a moment. "This is going to hurt a little," he mumbled to himself, then he flapped up once more, folded his wings around himself, and dove down wings first. He hit the ground hard and shattered the area in front of the diamond case, giving Hank more room to dig himself out. Tyrian started digging from his own side, finally finding a purpose for his claws.
