Current Memes aside, pineapples on pizza is ok actually. Being shat on for liking things different from other people gets old after a while.

Bestiary:

Welcome to World's End Online

It was one of the VR MMO games to pop up when Virtual Reality became sophisticated enough to simulate the real world. Following the craze for VR MMOs due to popular shows, books and what have you, World's End Online, developed by an obscure company based in Japan aimed towards being a medieval experience. While the foundation of the game was solid, the bog standard story, and painfully repetitive quests brought it down, as well as the painfully generic settings. While they have noticed most not even trying to be part of the medieval world and bringing in less than accurate fighting styles into the game, the promotional crossover anime event they tried to boost the game's player base with was not as successful as it could be.

However, even with all its downsides, it retained a fanbase of its own, due to its extremely robust base. The combat system was well received, having all the classes in its class system being able to do their own unique thing.

It was why, when a group of people stumbled upon a lone instance filled with nothing but an obviously oriental shrine, it was something that was highly unusual. It was not found by any normal means, nor did the map show anything about it. Some may have glitched into it, others found an odd gateway in a place that's out of the way and supposed to be empty, and yet a few found it through an empty name in their location teleport list. But all results in them, in finding the place.

The shrine had that attention to details not found in the rest of the game, giving off the feeling that it was somewhere that could feasibly exist and had people living in it. It was why, when maintenance to the server prevented the group from exploring, they returned back to that place afterwards, and found not a shrine, but a simple red gateway, and a bunny eared maid looking wholly out of place from the generic medieval tone of the whole game.

Perhaps they were bored of the generic medieval tone of the game. Perhaps they wanted to see what she had to offer, or perhaps they were just looking for new things to fight. In any case, the bunny eared maid offered a whole new campaign, and all they had to do was accept the EULA again.

World's End Online. To most it is a disappointing game, the story so spread out it may as well be nonexistent, no real overarching quests to make what you're doing feel significant. The rather obscure developers from Japan did not help its reputation as well; the game being thought of as a money grab from some greedy nobody to cash in on the VR MMO craze currently sweeping the world. To those who stuck with it however, found the combat system startlingly well done, as well as the surprising amount of polish on the game actual mechanics. Weapons had weight to them, skills from the class system and player levels helped but was not the be all end all means to winning. For many who stuck with this game, the combat, atmosphere and the ridiculous amounts of cosmetics to be found was enough to keep them playing.

Which was why, for the small group that discovered the hidden area, a strange new campaign could be tantalizing for any amount of reasons.

RULES:

1.All the rules of RPG applies.

2.Don't be a twat.

3.Will add to this if there are need to clarify some more rules about things ive overlooked.

Im gonna go work on the OOC now.^^

I added in a CS so anyone who wants to make an early draft of their char are able to do so while I prep the OOC ;w;

So thats at least three people interested in this. ^^

I'd like to get involved and learn more of the setting you're teasing us with. For example, I'd love to hear more about the world outside the VR MMO. We know there was a craze for these type of games now that Virtual Reality was more serviceable as a platform, but what about the world outside of said games? Did significant events occur that would effect our characters background? When it comes to being creative, how far can we go with the modern setting provided? The campaign you offer is sure to be interesting, but a lot of times, there are background factors to the individuals playing these games. One cannot be in VR all the time, they have lives outside of it.

Admittedly, I'm rather curious to see where you go from this. Consider my interest piqued.

Significant events? Its still similar to the modern world we have now, but there are several technological advances made like robotic prosthesis with actual tactile feedback, exoskeletons for the old being feasible, though VR tech had jumped leaps and bounds far ahead of the other techs. Its the future but not too futuristic to have full androids working as your maids, if that makes sense. ^^;

As for being creative, well, id say within limits of common sense for the actual notmmo people? An actual assassin who works for the goverment's secret police who wields dual blades is kinda too out there for an actual person after all. People making up their backstory in the actual mmo game is alright though.

tldr

Group of peeps find an oddly eastern style place in a VR game thats all about that generic european medieval setting, and goes there to find an odd bunny eared maid ready with a whole new campaign with a decidedly strange theme.

Any takers? I'll fluff things up more if there's enough people interested to get this going . Reposting this here to see if i can garner more interest in this section. Dont be afraid to ask questions. ^^;

Hazama, Harumi

Once again, she was in the undeveloped part of the district. It wasn't a place she went to without reason, and while she was very sure she can outrun most Skillouts, Harumi can't help but still feel rather apprehensive every time she was here.

As expected the same group of Skillouts was still there in the unused warehouse. One of them started before recognizing her as Harumi came closer.

"Oh? Ain't it the little investigator?" A large man pushed himself off a table slightly, enough to get a look at her without leaving his card game. "Need something?"

"I'm scared." She spoke suddenly. "I need something to protect myself with, Gruber."

There must have been a change in her expression as she said that, as the man's expression hardened. Sighing, he stood up, his expression unreadable as he leaned closer to her. "Oh? What happened?"

"I'm afraid of the high levels." Harumi started. "There have been a rise in the case of them bullying lo-"

"I'm not interested in your 'stories'." Gruber cut her short, staring her right in the eye. "Again, what happened? You, of all people, wouldn't resort to this at the mere mention of high levels bullying the weak."

Closing her eyes for a moment, Harumi weighted her options. Without a doubt, telling them what she knew might lead to her story having less impact when rumours inevitably circulate, or worse, stolen from under her nose, but there was no real reason for her to keep it from these guys as well. Rumours coming from Skillouts wouldn't be have much credibility behind them to the average person in Academy City after all. Also, what did he mean by 'you of all people'? She did break into some places and got in trouble for it, and she did try to masquerade as a student in Tokiwadai to flush out that level 5's secrets but she wasn't some sort of delinquent.

"Very well. The truth it is." Harumi met his gaze. "I've witnessed a murder, and I'm afraid they may come after me next."

***

Harumi walked out of that place, trying hard not to look suspicious, handling her bag like it had a bomb in it. It was fortunate that they only asked her to tell them everything she has on the incident. Perhaps Gruber felt it would threaten the people who did not have powers of their own? No matter his reason, at least her money was safe; she was prepared to spend it all for something to help her defend herself. Harumi suspected the fact she wasn't one of those people with higher levels also played a part.

What she did not expect, however, for them to give her a revolver with the serial numbers filed off, as well as a box of ammo. He did mention that people were still people even with all their abilities, and no one could outrun a bullet. Though when she asked about those few who could render guns useless, he just shrugged and said "Then you're already dead if any people of that caliber targets you."
