Taurus Altobelli, The Winter Carnival
Interactions: August Weiss

Taurus had been in two minds about attending the carnival.

For one, it would be nice to mingle and take another look at some of the groups available on campus to join in his free time, but on the other hoof, it was absolutely freezing. And busier than he’d expected it to be.

But August had asked him about it earlier in the week and when he explained his thoughts, well. The Doberman had pulled out the dramatics. A slight whine in his voice and a pout on his muzzle as he flopped on Taurus’ chair, not to mention the puppy eyes. He’d kept that up for an hour before Taurus relented and agreed to go - not that it was any hardship spending time with him.

So here he was, bundled up in a navy woollen coat with double breasted buttons, dark chinos and a scarf wrapped tightly around his neck to try and ward off the chill. His ears flicked at the raising of voices and he followed August’s gaze to the group at the sports booth, an eyebrow cocked slightly.

”Thats Zania. Bouncer and general muscle at The Wolf Pack. I’ve seen her around a few times when I used to work the overnight shift.” Taurus explained quietly, reaching out to brush a flurry of snow from August’s shoulder. ”Also the one that put the baboon in his place a few days ago, if I remember rightly. I definitely wouldn’t mess with her.” He chuckled softly, pondering August’s question as a he glanced around.

”Maybe just take a walk for now and see what we find? I admit, I’m starting to get a little peckish. Maybe stop by the literary club too? I’m pretty sure they have some of my work on display.” Taurus smiled. The guys had pretty much begged him to let them display his work around their stand, and he’d only agreed on the condition that his name not be put towards any of them.

”Lead the way.” He gestured, content to follow August while keeping an eye out for anyone that they may know.

Alonzo shouldered his bag again, once Conner had finished pouring over his tattoos, and took a quick stock check of everyone.

Ryker had disappeared a little way away with a younger family; the two younger children besotted with Sascha and honestly? He couldn’t blame them. Another guy wandered over to the group, seemingly drawn in by the dog. Ryker was going to be the belle of the ball with Sascha on his arm like this.

He quirked an eyebrow as a car pulled up in a cloud of dust, a guy hopping out and heading towards the two little groups at a speed. Alonzo watched the weird exchange before the man took off sprinting; fast but still obviously human. He made a mental note to sit as far away from that one as possible.

”I mean I think that guy needs more help than anyone here can give him.” He snorted to Mara, shaking his head slightly as he watched him lean against a tree, gasping for breath.

”You both coming?” He asked, glancing over his shoulder as he started to make his way down the path, towards the check in desk.

@LuckyBlackCat @Crimson Flame
@Martian Arthur really said gay panic 😂
”Nice to meet you both.” Alonzo nodded with a slight smile, waving away the concern of his hand. He stepped back a little to give Ryker some space, and to also get out of the worst of the lavender cloud. He knew the smell would cling to his hair and clothes for hours now. Not that it was a bad smell; he just wasn’t a fan of the old lady images it brought to mind. ”Teething problems, bit of a weird sensation to get used to. Nothing major though.” He gave him another brief smile before Conner was in front of him again, hand on his arm.

This guy was definitely the touchy-feeley type, but Alonzo didn’t mind too much. He’d had worse. He grinned brightly at the mention of his tattoo. They were his absolute pride and joy. ”I designed this one. Well, adapted it from a painting I did a few years ago. I regretted selling it so much that I redrew it in tattoo form. One of my friends actually tattooed it though, he lives in the south. This one,” He held out his other arm, adorned with runes and a compass. ”My grandma designed for me before she passed. She was very spiritual. All of the runes mean something different.” He smiled a little sadly but didn’t dwell. ”I have more on my back and my shoulders. One on each thigh too. I’ve spent way too much money on these already, but I still have some space so still room for more.”
Alonzo rolled up the sleeves of his hoodie, tattoos exposed, and pushed his glasses further up his nose before taking the guy’s arm gently in his hand. He felt the fluttering of nerves in his stomach but took a deep breath to try and calm them as much as he could.

He had an actual use now, no chance to mess this one up.

His eyebrows furrowed with concentration, fingers of his other hand flexing as they tingled. ”Sure did a number on this but it could be worse. No one’s at fault though, just wrong place, wrong time. Nothing for anyone to kick themselves over.” As he spoke, the burn started to slowly fade. The burn was large enough to leave a faint scar, and he hadn’t got a proper handle on this new power enough to make it disappear completely, but it would fade quicker than usual and was definitely better than if it had been untreated. ”S’alright though, look? Gone... more or less.” He gave him another brief smile and stepped away, flexing the tingling from his fingers; the newer scent of lavender far overpowering the lemon from before.

”She’s cute, what’s her name? Alonzo asked curiously, eyeing up the cause of the whole fiasco. ”And yours, actually?” He added quickly, cursing his lack of manners.

His grandmother would have his head if she could hear him.
”Oh I wouldn’t hold your breath.” Alonzo chuckled softly, giving the girl a sharp grin at the snobs comment. Alonzo wasn’t one to entertain those with more money than they necessarily deserved for long. Him and his grandmother had struggled and scraped for all they had; those born into money or just expected things tended to grate on his nerves.

He made brief eye contact with the man who had appeared from behind, giving him a small nod in return before his attention was snatched away by an arm around his shoulders. He blinked for a moment; he really needed to keep a closer eye on people. The guy moved fast. His cheeks turned pink at the compliment and ducked out of the arm around his shoulders, giving Conner a sheepish smile. ”Alonzo. Alonzo Solandis.” He introduced himself, the sharp whistle making him wince and flinch slightly although that wasn’t the worst reaction from their little group.

He didn’t see much besides the arc of electricity and the resulting large burn on the newcomer’s arm. ”Christ, that’s some powerful stuff He muttered, shoving his bag in Conner’s direction before hurrying over to the other guy. ”I can help with that, give me your arm?” He offered out a hand, giving him what he hoped was a reassuring smile.
Alonzo hated driving. The roads too loud and too fast, too many people in too much of a hurry to pay attention to anything but the stretches of road in front of them. But he’d forced himself to learn and buy a car out of necessity. It had proved itself handy, much to his despair.

The drive only took a few hours and gave him the time he needed to get his thoughts in order; many of those surrounding what it was going to be like being around those like himself. He’d thought he’d been alone in the powers that manifested themselves but it reassured him to know that he wasn’t the only one. At least they were all in the same boat.

He pulled into the parking area, glancing around for a free... bit of dirt rather than an actual space. Alonzo half wished he’d brought his actual painting stuff with him, rather than just a travel watercolour set and sketch pad - the area was lovely. But he doubted he’d be able to make the most of it with the conference and the ‘fun’ activities they had planned.

Whatever that meant.

He stepped out and stretched the cramp from his back and legs, groaning softly as his neck cracked. He dragged out his duffle bag. He’d packed on the lighter side, hoping that he had enough changes of clothes to last him - just in case anything happened. He caught sight of a brief flash of fire from the corner of his eyes and turned, eyebrows furrowing at the faint scent of lemon wafting away from the girl and the charred patch of grass at her feet.

He did not have enough clothes if these were the types of abilities the others had.

He started to feel a little inferior. All of a sudden, his healing powers seemed pretty underwhelming compared to apparent pyrokinisis and the boy that could control water who had appeared in the few minutes he’d been stood by his car. Alonzo shook himself slightly, rolling his shoulders and hoisting up his duffle bag before nudging the car door shut with his hip and locking it up. As he passed he managed to hear the tail-end of conversation.

”... any BioTech staff around?”

“I’d assume they’d all be in the conference hall. Doubt they’d be out here mingling with the commoners, as it were.” He piped in softly, barely a snort escaping his nose. The staff were probably keeping well away for their own self-preservation. “I’m gonna guess we need to check in before they’ll let us anywhere near the important people.”

He gestured to the pavilion in the centre of the clearing with his free hand, standing with one hip cocked to wait for the other two; if they’d follow.

@Zanavy Could maybe tap into to the more healing side of it then? Almost like healing word from DND if that wouldn’t be too over powered? Keeping the clarity side and then just changing the de-escalation bit? Let me know and I’ll have a bit more of a think while I’m at work today (where I do my best thinking xD)
