It's taken you 17 episodes to realize you don't like a show?Does it update weekly?Because that means it's taken you more than at least four months.

WARNING: I don't like anime. I don't believe in judging people for the things they enjoy; if you like it, I support you. But you should know my opinion of anime is horribly low. I don't even bother with anime anymore. The fact that Japanese probably doesn't translate well to English combined with a lot of them seem to have no sense of subtlety really puts me off. The former is really me giving the benefit of the doubt to anime writers because I don't think I can completely blame them for having ridiculous dialogue in a completely different language from the one it was written in. I watched ten episodes of Attack on Titan. It was the most melodramatic, blunt, and pretentious thing I've ever watched. I remember watching a hulu ad for it that featured a review quote calling it "surprisingly human." The characters do not act or think like people. They act and think like anime people, which is at the core of so many anime. They've built a medium that contains a completely different race of mammals that are so melodramatic it hurts. Combine that with some of the worst attempts at symbolism I've ever seen, it baffles me that some people like it. Once again, I don't judge people for what they like; I like the Sonic Adventure games, if that makes anyone feel better. In the very few anime I've watched, however, all of them have been a really poor experience, and I have no desire to keep hunting for good ones.

I've been meaning to watch .hack. SAO wasn't the deepest thing ever but at least it was pretty and the fights were done well. I can't imagine sitting through an anime that's even cheesier than SAO without having the same production value.
