Mass Effect: UNITY

We seem to have a mixed bag of troops. It's gonna be difficult to think of missions that use EVERYONE'S skills. Some people are probably gonna be out of their comfort zones on some missions. I can't think of anything where everyone is happy.

Oh and probably should have said this before I joined, but I'm going to boot camp on April 29. According to others that have gone through training, I won't get internet access until after 9 weeks. Really sorry if I messed you guys up with that info, but I figured leaving without saying something would have been worse. I can probably have Talus go out in a blaze of glory when needed, but yeah, hope you guys aren't mad for me springin' this info on ya so late.

As Talus stood stone still, he gazed at the reporters and politicians that were in attendance. I wonder how many of these people actually care about the reapers over their next campaign. He thought, as he reminded himself of how much he hated politics. Talus also wondered what it would be like working with a mix of different races. He wasn't give much time at all to meet anyone before they were ordered to stand at attention behind the podium. Humans, Volus, Asari, hmph, it seems we're one big melting pot. This is gonna be a helluva ride. Once their commander finished his speech, the crew was ordered aboard the ship to begin their journey.

A feeling of excitement washed over Talus as he crossed the threshold of the airlock. He was given a layout of the ship, but it would still take time to learn his way around the place. Talus didn't really know where to start. He was a combat specialist, and didn't really have any knowledge on how to operate a ship. He wasn't sure if he should start mingling with the crew or check on his equipment. Well, I guess my stuff isn't gonna be movin any time soon. He thought to himself. Talus then turned around to see the rest of the crew and spoke up; "Well, I guess someone needs to start introductions. The name's Talus Oravian. I'll be apart of the ground crew fighting those ugly bastards face-to-face."

Talus

Name: Talus Oravian

Appearance: Talus looks similar to most other Turians, though he does have the traditional tribal tattoos. Thin red bands across where eye brows would be, a thick red band on his chin, and his longest horn also colored red. He wears standard light Turian infantry armor for a wider range of flexibility and speed which has black as its primary color and crimson as the secondary color.

Age: 30

Biotic ability: None

Biography: Talus was born and raised on Palaven, and experienced a fairly normal life for a Turian. He enlisted into the military when required. When Garrus and his father brought information about the Reapers to the Turian Hegemony, and the information was subsequently released, Talus was one of few that actually believed Garrus. All the evidence pointed towards the Reapers inevitable coming. He immediately volunteered for Garrus's task force to get the Turians' ready for the coming attack. However, after seeing the resources and menial tasks that were allowed by the Hegemony, Talus resigned from the military, believing that their work wasn't enough to do any real help.

Talus was looking for work on the Citadel when news of the Reaper invasion hit. He had the urge to return to the service of his people, but he felt as if one extra trooper on the front lines wouldn't make enough of a difference. However, the Reaper attack on Palaven was the last straw. As he marched toward the recruiting center, he learned of Project UNITY. For the first time since his resignation, Talus felt like this new endeavor would do much more against the Reaper's than being a simple soldier would. So, instead of going to the Turian recruiting station, he volunteered for Project UNITY.

Personality: On the surface, Talus is a humorous individual, preferring to keep the mood light so as to avoid over-stressing. He tries not to insult others, but if it comes off like that, he is quick to explain the situation and avoid further misunderstandings. Talus is fiercely loyal to any and all commanding officer's, though he does not follow blindly, preferring to getting to know his commanders before following them into battle. However, underneath this facade, and like almost every other Turian, Talus has a deep-seeded hatred towards the Reaper's for their invasion of Palaven. So much so, that he carves the number of confirmed kills into the stock of his sniper rifle. He tries not to show this side of himself, though, wanting to keep the rest of his squad from getting overly worried about blood-lust.

Position: Combat Specialist - Due to his military training, Talus does have experience with many firearms, though he has specialist training with long-range weapon systems. While he'll admit he's not the best, Talus does good work with his sniper rifle. He also has limited training with his omni-tool. For example, he's able to hack slightly more secure doors and computers than your average user. He's no tech-savvy by any means, but he knows a few things. Aside from his sniper rifle, Talus carries the M-5 Phalanx side-arm for those up-close and personal encounters.

Other: He has named his M-97 Viper sniper rifle, Julius, after the ancient Human conqueror.

I know voiced my interest in the int. check, and I do intend to make a sheet, I feel I must ask a question. I leave for Basic Training on April 29. What are you ok with me rping? I don't want to take a General position and spring on you the fact I'm leaving for a few months with no internet access.
