Ray emptied the cannons onto the slaver ship's deck and drew his rapier. "Time to repel boarders!" He climbed up onto the deck and began cutting his way through the slavers. None stood a chance against him and his deft strikes. He would slap away their clumsy swings with his thin blade and riposte, felling in single strikes. His arm behind his back, Ray began shouting lyrics over the din of battle.

"Here's a health to the king and lasting peace
To faction end, to wealth increase
Come let us drink while we have breath
For there's no drinking after death

And he that will this health deny
Down among the dead men
Down among the dead men
Down, down, down, down
Down among the dead men let him lie!"

He had slain a dozen-and-a-half before a lieutenant came forward. "Leave him," he barked. "He's mine." The lieutenant held an ornate saber, ivory handled and wickedly sharp. He twirled it with experienced ease and grinned at Ray, who simply bowed and took a duelist's stance. The slaver lieutenant lunged forward; Ray tried to parry, but found that the saber strikes were too heavy to simply be flicked away. Ray quickly found himself on the defensive, surrounded by a ragged circle of onlookers. Forced back by the vicious onslaught, he bumped into the opposite rail of the Coral Pearl. The lieutenant surged forward and brought down his saber on Ray, who, momentarily distracted by the railing, angled his parry poorly, resulting in his rapier getting sliced through. The lieutenant readied his killing blow, then widened his eyes in surprise.

Ray drew and fired his reserve derringer and took back the momentum, plunging the broken blade of his rapier into the man's neck. He seized the slain lieutenant's saber and charged into the shocked onlookers with a frenzy.

Ray was mad. He was covered in arterial spray, his clothes were now ruined, his favorite Lendrian steel rapier was broken and, worst of all, he was almost beaten by a filthy slaver. He only survived because he had cheated! His pride couldn't stand it, so he took out his frustrations on the unlucky sods who got in his way, cleaving through with his saber and stabbing and parrying with the broken remains of his rapier.
Now that we've gotten to the boarding action, Here's some updated theme music.

Thank god for youtube auto-replay.

Banba said She rammed the Cutlass forward into someone's abdomen and moved to pull it back, only to find it stuck. Her smile disappeared again as panic over took her face.
"No, no! Give it back!"

lol
Yay grimdark character twist! Or do you think I'm using the dead parents trope a little early in the story? If so, I'll change it because I'm not completely satisfied with my post anyway.
Ray was sitting in a corner, sharpening his new makeshift shiv. The doctors had removed the alien shard of orange shrapnel from his arm, and told him they were amazed that he hadn't lost his entire arm. Ray decided to hold onto the piece of shrapnel, first as a memento, but then chose to put it to a more practical use. He had first taken the remains of his torn shirt for a handle, then added the leather from a belt he stole from a deceased patient. A piece of plastic was the crossguard, held in place by superglue. The blade was jagged and wicked looking, and surprisingly sharp.

His parents were missing, but Ray wasn't surprised with all the chaos going on. They weren't in the morgue, which was something. He hoped they were okay, and he hoped that he'd live through this madness too. To keep himself occupied, he worked on his knife. The more he thought about improving his weapon, the less he worried about his family, his friends, himself, or about humanity as a whole.

The fighting grew in volume, and Ray hissed as he turned; he accidentally cut his finger on the orange blade. "Damn this thing is sharp. At least we don't have to fight them unarmed." He chuckled nervously, wondering what good a stupid knife would do against an alien with whatever crazy ray-gun they had.
I'm still here and still interested.
Guh, versus games. I can't stand button-mashers, mostly 'cuz I suck at them.

And the Sheogorath quote is from Oblivion, but he shows up in Skyrim. Try going to the forbidden wing of the Blue Palace in Solitude.
Ray was slightly surprised to see that their stowaway was a girl, and a young one at that. I wonder what she's doing out here of all places. He smirked to himself, I wonder what I'm doing out here of all places. Ray kept his rapier aimed at her as Luro hoisted her towards the deck and tied her to the mast. No sooner had they dome so, a ship appeared on the horizon, barrels blazing. Fortunately for the StarDusk Pirates, their aim was off, and they had surrendered their advantage of surprise. Luro released her and Ray commanded her, "Help me load the cannons. No one's turning you over to these slavers."

Ray had nothing against slavery, though it was Lendrian slavery he was accustomed to. On Lendria, slaves had laws protecting them, even a bill of rights, though it was much shorter than the citizen's version, and not always followed. Some elements of politics had taken to calling it indentured servitude, even though few slaves truly were bound by debt. It was customary for loyal slaves to be freed after several decades of service. It was also well known that slavery was much worse elsewhere. Ray had no qualms with the slaver's profession, he instead took issue with their next prospective acquisition.

"Luro, get to the swivel gun until you're in rifle range. Aim for their officers and do what you can to disrupt them." Ray saw Nolan firing off the cannon with some difficulty. "Nolan, load the cannon with chainshot and aim high. It'll screw up their rigging and sails and hopefully slow them down enough to escape." He remembered his lessons from his uncle, a merchant captain. When he was 16, Ray took a trip with his uncle on his ship and learned the basics of cannon handling and strategy.

Use the roundshot to punch holes in the hull. You'll want to aim low, but not low enough to hit a passing wave. Chainshot is aimed at their sails and rigging. Use it to slow their ship. Don't use the grapeshot until you're within throwing distance of the ship; treat it like a giant blunderbuss shot and aim it at the deck.

Ray and the stowaway loaded and fired another few rounds of chainshot, but their efforts at slowing the enemy ship were in vain. Someone on the slaver ship had loaded a harpoon into a cannon and launched it at the Coral Pearl, lodging it into the side and slowly pulling the ships closer. Ray spied the crew onboard the enemy ship preparing grappling hooks. "Captain, we'd better prepare for boarders." He turned to his impromptu cannon crew. "Load up the guns with grapeshot. We'll give these bastards a nasty surprise they'll never forget."
On the note of the Shivering Isles, did you know that if you attack Sheogorath, he teleports you to a point outside high enough in the air that the fall will kill you? And did you know that if you reach that place on foot, there's a corpse with a note on it saying that Sheogorath put him to death for trying to growing a beard?

Here's some atmosphere music for the slaver fight.
See the kinetic shields drawback I suggested? They won't stop punches, so they won't stop knives. We ambush/swarm them with melee weapons.
Maybe a combination kinetic shield/cloaking device that can only have one mode on at a time, and each mode has drawbacks, like the kinetic shield protects from bullets, but not punches, and the cloaking device only fully works when not moving.

As for plot integration, we find and kill an alien commando team using cloaking devices/whatever inside the hospital during a full scale attack, steal their cloaking devices/whatever, and flee before getting overrun.

By the way, Rax, what was your first link from?

And @jman221: Don't worry about us, go ace your exams or whatever. We're just brainstorming ideas for you.
