Name: Rayvius 'Moyses' Skalterion

Age: 261

Physical Description:

Appearance is not indicative of equipment. Rayvius has green eyes, black hair and stands at 7'9'' and weighs 792 pounds. He received a burn scar on his left neck that he received during his service in the Deathwatch; he has not revealed the source of the injury, claiming Inquisitorial Secrecy.

Character History: Rayvius was born on Aegyptus, a backwater planet that was abandoned by the Imperium during the Africanus Crusade for tactical reasons, primarily due to a warp storm due to hit and isolate the system. As soon as the Imperium abandoned the system, Dark Eldar appeared, enslaving the entire population. Rayvius escaped because a Dark Angels scout took him off the planet as a child, moved by his mother's plaintive pleas for deliverance.
Rayvius was raised as a chapter serf by the Dark Angels and was a full marine by 16, where he promtly joined his battle-brothers in the Africanus Crusade. He never forgot his homeworld, and was haunted by his last moments with his mother. When he was 42, he requested to be sent to Aegyptus to help liberate the planet. The warp storm isolating the system had passed, but the Imperial forces deemed the planet not worth the expense of liberating it. He asked to join a unit of nine other Imperial specialists, agents and assassins. Rayvius' sergeant allowed his request, seeing how Ray's memories of his homeworld distracted him and hoping to excise him of the burden. Rayvius and his team became known on Aegyptus as the Plagues, and after a forty year campaign, managed to sow enough chaos among the Dark Eldar occupiers to allow a liberation force to be validated and force the Dark Eldar off the planet, culminating in a directed orbital bombardment and the assassination of the Archon of the Kabal. The people of Aegyptus immortalized him as the tenth Plague: the Angel of Death, and gave him the honorary name 'Moyses,' which he adopted without reservation.
He went on to serve as a scout and a tactical marine during the remainder of the Africanus Crusade, though with no exceptionally notable heroics. At the close of the Africanus Crusade, he was offered a position in Deathwatch when he was 117, where he spent a century among their forces as a kill-marine. His most notable actions in the Deathwatch was the cleansing of the Velcorn system's four habitable planets of genestealer infestation within a week, all on his own.

Psychological Profile: Rayvius is a loner, a trait he developed in his forty year guerrilla campaign on Aegyptus and his century as a lone kill-marine in the Deathwatch. He is most comfortable working alone or in small teams, and is just as likely to be seen in a scout's carapace armor as he is in Power Armor. He has developed sympathy for the common imperial citizen and works well with non-Astartes organizations in the Imperium. He is familiar with many other Astartes Chapters and has a begrudging admiration for many Xenos species, both traits acquired from his Deathwatch service. He has difficultly connecting with his battle brothers, and occasionally wonders if it would be better for him to return to the Deathwatch as a Black Shield. He is rather suspicious about the Dark Angels' occasional radical redeployments, but unless he finds out why, he has no reason to object.

Equipment:
Mk. VII Aquila Power Armor
Mk IIIa Godwyn Pattern Bolter
Guardian Bolt Pistol
Frag Grenade x4
Krak Grenade x4
Combat Knife

I think Grothnor had some spoilers about the story, didn't he?

Alright, while nothing about the Inquisitor Lord has come through, you can see glimpses of an object of old, extreme power, although the details are lost upon you. You can also sense hints of regret and something else, a mixture of perhaps fear and loathing, and a long path of hardships leading up to this point, although it is all in a multi colored haze, obscuring many details that could otherwise be gleaned from such a vision.

That's all I got and I pretty much posted it all in the IC, so I got nuthin.'
I'm working on my character sheet and I think I've been listening to too much 'Grimdark Songwriting.' My character's history so far is totally based around this. Probably too much....
A bit more backstory for me. I'll post later with a dramatic confrontation with the captain.

Also, Yay, no more tests!
"DOWN among the DEAD MEN... LET... THEM... LIE!"

Ray had sufficiently become a bloody terror enough to scare the boarding slaver crewmen off of the Coral Pearl. He was no longer singing, but simply shouting the lyrics at the top of his lungs, striking with each emphatic word.

"Come back ye bloody barstards, I ain't finished with ye!" He howled to their collective backsides. He stopped and leaned on the mast, catching his breath. What was it that got me so worked up? Oh yeah, that bloody lieutenant singled me out and I had to shoot him in a sword duel. Ray's mouth curled in renewed anger. He made a fool of me, forcing me to break my unspoken honor.

Ray suddenly chuckled to himself, and then found himself in the paroxysms of hearty laughter. "By the arse of good King Lendrianos, that's a stupid thing to get pissed over," he said aloud. It wasn't even a real duel; we weren't using fair and matched weapons. Anyway, it got me this beauty. Ray wiped his new saber off on the shirt of a dead crewman he slew and admired the sword. Perfect balance, razor edge, its not Lendrian steel, but it may just be something better. So why was I so mad?

He did break my rapier. The same weapon I vowed to slay that bitch with. It was a stupid vow; I made it while drunk, while inflamed with passion and I'll probably never see her again. I hope I never see her again. But I made the vow nonetheless. Now....
Ray sheathed the hilt of his broken blade; the anger started welling inside of him.

Ray scavenged a brace of pistols from a dead crewman and howled across the deck as he started towards the slaver ship. "Honorless curs! I'll flay you alive and tan you hides for sails for making me forsake mine, you scum-sucking slaver filth!" Walking with purpose, he started singing again, this time a grim tune.

"There were three ravens sat on a tree,
Down a down, hey, down a down,
They were as black as they might be.
With a down,
The one of them said to his mate,
Where shall we our breakfast take?
With a down, derrie, derrie, derrie, down, down."
Carefully executed.

Then I kill them.

*Facepalm*

...I still managed to play 11-ish hours of Mass Effect and not beat it yet.

Nah, you need 30+ hours to beat mass effect, any of them. They're big games.

That escalated quickly.

"I know, that really got out of hand. Brick killed a guy!"

I love Anchorman.
To clarify why Ray is so mad, Ray is a very proud person who grew up accustomed to getting what he wanted and being the best at what he does (music and dueling). He prides himself in his dueling talents and isn't used to coming across people better than he, or dealing with defeat. In his mind, he was dueling the lieutenant, and was forced to cheat to live. He's well aware that there are no rules in a life or death pirate battle, but because the lieutenant singled him out, he wanted to beat him 'fair and square,' but since he couldn't, his pride was bruised and so he's throwing an adult tantrum. In short, he's being a sore winner.

He also really liked his sword.
Eh, I think I'll change it to "Anxious about family, therefore protective of friends, trying to distract himself by making makeshift weapons."

EDIT: And I did. I didn't like the radical change in character. Also, it was a little cliche. I'll save it for later if anything.
