Some Announcements:

-First off, if I tagged you, then your CS is accepted thus far.

-Secondly, I've decided to just use a simple map, which is nothing but a bunch of colorful blobs on MS paint. I've decided against using the one that Queen Raidne provided, mainly because I felt best to keep it simple.

-I am now about to edit the Original Post with the map and a section called "Updates", which will explain any... well, updates, that I feel everyone should be aware of. Please check the Updates every few days, so that I can just trust that you'll all see anything new in the Updates, and thus I don't have to tag everyone in a post like this again.

The Worst Map I've Ever Seen

*cringes at the awfulness*

I am now asking everyone to edit your nation into the map and post it here. Always edit the version of the map that I have in the OP, as that is the official version. I repeat: when you edit your map, use whichever version of it I have in the OP. Everytime someone edits their nation into the map, I will place that new version into the OP for others to add their nations to, until we have a single map with everyone's nations on it.

Remember, the Xim empire is almost 400 billion people, and the Sol Federation is 65 Billion people and 25 solar systems. So when you put your empire on the map, keep it to scale. Larger empires may be about the size of the Xim, smaller ones may be about the size of the Federation.

Now, please note that I am there should be SPACE between many of the empires. The only reason the Federation and the Initiative are touching is because Earth was once inside Xim territory, thus making them actually share a border.

As I mentioned in the OP, there will be non-player nations, and some areas of the universe which are just empty of any nation, and therefore there will be some blank space inbetween our players.

If we run out of room on the map, I'll shrink the size of all our nations, or increase the size of the map

I'm sorry it sucks so much, but it's the best I can do xD

Shorticus can put his Namiee wherever the fuck he wants once we have our nations set up

You'll still be overwhelmed by anyone with a large enough population, however- the New Republic, the Xim (350 billion population, by the way), and so on. So don't get in over your head

So, question. Can I have a larger percentage for army size since I hold a warrior culture and my people are all into the service of military?

Yes. As I said, if you have a VALID reason to increase your army size, I'll likely allow it.

This is more than valid, and I'm surprised you hadn't mentioned it earlier.

I'll allow up to 15 percent of your people to be in the military- more than double what you have now- but that's as I has I can let it go, because I don't feel that any normal economy could support a military larger than 15 percent for more than a few years at a time.

@Hael I suppose you right. Maybe I'm just not all into the space mariney-Murrica thing that Hamilton had going. I think they should still have human names...but...like, they couldn't think of something better than Bob? I dunno, I guess it's just a personal thing haha, but it's also related heavily to tone. Blindsight has a couple Bob and Bill like names, but it's quite mind-expanding, and the Ender Saga is really mystical.

I'm probably just a nitpicker lol, ignore it ignore it.

This is why I name all my characters Jesus.

Non-religious people will think it's the Spanish "Jesus", which is pronounced with an H and is just an everyday name. Religious will think it's Jesus, as in the Messiah. Atheists will think I named him that to bash religion, Christians will think I named him that to praise it

It's the best of both worlds!

@Shorticus You do have a point, you know...

I do enjoy the Ender Saga and the protagonist's last name is Wiggins and there's a race of aliens called the piggies.

I just think Hamilton's schtick was just kind of "Space Captain Wilson Heimer" or whatever with a lot of slang that just kind of took me out of it. Also, glacial pacing, at least in the Commonwealth. GLACIAL.

I think it is only logical for human characters to have human names, because unless our whole culture is consumed by another, we're not going to start naming our children any different because we know aliens and fly spaceships. The only exception might be if the alien society absorbed human society entirely, and we started calling ourselves by alien names to blend in with their culture. If that didn't happen, we have no reason to change our names. I'm not going to name my kid "Bleezorp the Third" because we made contact with aliens- her name will still be human, most likely.
