Current My Italian friend just asked me if it's true that all Americans are fat. I'm offended but I can't stop laughing.

I always respond to OOC tags within 10 minutes, but I respond to PMs within 10 days. I don't know why- I suppose it's just because PMs are so easy to brush aside and forget about

I don't have any finals, but everyone else having finals is slowing down my RPs. Second-hand busyness.

I know it's time to go to bed, because I just started wondering if maybe the whole universe is a single cell on some alien's ass

If a tree falls in the woods and Fox news isn't around to see it, is it still Obama's fault?

I like to write things collaboratively.

And in the end, isn't that all you need to know to RP with me?

EDIT: More general question; there is artificial gravity right? It's kind of a normal staple of sci-fi, so I just kind of assumed. And it's kinda necessary for the type of resource extraction technology I imagine Ch'ak using.

Yes, artificial gravity is completely fine, and you can assume that everyone has it in some form or another.

Hael is picking favorites I see, just like my mother.

Picking favorites?

I suppose I am, but don't think that I will allow that to obscure my judgment. I'm going to (try to) rule fairly on everyone, regardless of how much or how little I may like their ideas. :P

As noted previously, a "peace or flight" response is pretty much standard procedure for the Namilee at this point.

If they did not feel immediately threatened by the Xim, they'd probably begin interacting by trying to decipher their language and establish an air of peace. They'd potentially engage in trade, though they may be curious - and cautious - about the Xim's desire to procure samples which would provide them with Namilee DNA. At the very least, they'd want to know the why behind this; but being trusting, there's a fair chance they'd concede, but might ask for similar samples from the Xim.

(After all, why let an awkward and potentially threatening negotiation get in the way of a good experiment?)

But they'd much rather trade information, such as cultural information and scientific learning, especially so they might get an understanding of the Xim's outlook on the galaxy and their technological advancement. Then they'd decide what technologies they're willing to reveal to the Xim, as they'd want to make certain they don't give a race technology too far beyond its present state as that might risk, y'know, more genocide. Again.

I'll talk more about this later. I have to finish an essay.

I understand. Good luck!

Also, if you don't mind, I would like to interact with the Namilee rather early on in the RP, mainly because they are my favorite race thus far and I think I like them almost as much as my own
EDIT: Nvm

You know less about me than you know Hael.

It's a string isn't it?

It's always a damn string.

Assuming they meet on land and not in space? Probably by vanishing via their camouflaging technology and trying to evade them before reevaluating their approach with these creatures.

If the Namilee were able to get the "jump," so to speak, they'd probably appear out of nowhere and make their presence known before trying to demonstrate through gesture they have no harmful intentions. They'd probably try to react in a reciprocal manner to the aliens, assuming the aliens weren't displaying clearly hostile behavior. Again: hostile behavior would probably prompt their retreat.

And what if someone stared at them like they were a piece of merchandise, clearly sizing up all their weaknesses and strengths as one would with a horse? Then asked for a gene sample and to see sketches of their entire biological systems?

Because that's how Xim greet everyone. Until you prove your intelligence, you aren't a person so much as just a wad of raw organic material, which should be refined and modified into a more perfect form.

The Xim have a lot of strengths- they're smarter, stronger, healthier, hardier, and faster than most others- but diplomacy is not one of them.

Are you stalking Lauder? C'mon Haelamera, don't be that kind of person...

xD She told me she was in highschool! It's not my fault @Lauder can't keep her mouth shut about personal details

<Snipped quote by Hael>

You don't know that...

*sends out teenage vibes*

*knows you are in highschool*

*is out of highschool*

*is probably older than you*
<Snipped quote by Hael>

Damn you kids and your fast typing!

You're younger than I am, Lauder.
@Hael

I can agree with you on OP and such, but unrealistic is something I do happen to disagree with. While it may not be a perfect universal translator, with one language blueberries is a noun and the other may be a verb, I believe it could be developed in the end. Regardless, you are the GM and I must obey, though there will be some sort of translations system going through my empire to help communications between slaves and their X'Cor masters. Plus body language is a valid thing, little differences here and there, yet all mean just about the same things.

Back to the olden forms of communication to a foreign species I suppose, shoot the shit out of it until it dies

I think you may have missed the post I just tagged you in.

Universal translators are allowed, just not fast ones that can translate automatically. The machine should take days or weeks to learn the new language, and can only translate it after it has been learned.
