Skrik's smile widened a little. This little cousin had a straightforward manner and a bold one at that. So he values strength that much. It was different from Skrik's own path, filled with nagging questions and curiosities about the mysteries of the world. Skrik wanted answers and options, various paths that would allow him to defeat foes that were stronger than he was. But, different paths do not always create conflict.
"Good, take what is yours and follow quickly." Skrik instructed, holding out the stout stick that he had found. "This too. It should make a good club for you with some work." With that said, Skrik waited only long enough for his instructions to be followed before turning away to head in the direction of the tribe's previous home. "My name is Skrik. When you get stronger, I'll ask for yours."
It felt strange and uncomfortable, being so domineering. But, Skrik's young cousin respected strength. So, that would be the goal. Both of them needed more strength. Strength should be rewarded, and recognition from someone stronger... that could be a potent reward for some. Besides, if this motivation worked in spurring his young cousin to more rapid growth then it would benefit all of them in the tribe.
Skrik set a pace that would not be easily matched by a goblin in the direction of the tribe's previous home cave. While he kept alert for danger, he was also looking for any exceptional wood to use for a spear shaft and common wood for javelins. He wanted something stronger than the common woods that were around. They were good for most foes, but that bear might demand a better quality weapon. He was also looking for the types of berries that the horned rabbits didn't eat. Their poison might prove a valuable addition to his options.
@Jangel13 -Gave "Stout Stick" to Grik -Lead the way toward old cave. -Searching for the following along the way: Poison Berries, Better than average wood for a spear shaft, Up to 5 average sticks for javelins.
Starting Skill: Butcher’s Insight [Heightened ability to find vital points, predict movement based on physiology, and get the most out of a carcass.] Acquired Skills: Slash (claws)= The goblin has learned how to use his sharper nails to create a slashing attack making it effective in rending flesh. This allows the goblin to strike a deadly blow with any sharp weapon and when upgraded can pierce through weapons and armor. Throwing Intuition= This goblin, having thrown enough things, has been given insight when using a thrown weapon. He can accurately guess the distance, wind, angle, and strength of his throws. At higher levels can gain pinpoint accuracy to his targets weak spots.
@Dark Cloud, I figured that you'd understand. As for being invisible, there's advantages to that... But, IC, it's just that we haven't done anything that would involve odds, skills, or stats. That's the stuff that our gm is managing. OOC, our chat isn't very interesting compared to the people who are either having miscommunication drama or are starting pseudo-adventurer parties. Though, if those gob girls managed to scavenge some pants somewhere... the traveling pants jokes would become way too easy.
On a more practical note. Do you mind if Skrik leads aggressively in my next post? His shopping list isn't very short and we should give @Jangel13 something to do. Besides, the faster we get armed up, the faster we can get hunting.
@Dark Cloud Sorry for the absence. I work four days a week, Tuesday through Friday. 10 Hour shifts and there's been overtime more than half the days this week. My Saturday is usually spent... well... recovering. I'll read what I missed and see about what to do next. But, I can't guarantee that I'll be very active between Tuesday morning and Saturday night. I like to be, but life has other plans often enough.
Skrik's skills were effective, at least at concealing his presence from his young kin. The rabbit seemed to detect him, though only enough to be slightly nervous. Then it died. The goblin's victory proved that he had potential.
Skrik stepped out of the shadows, carrying both his javelin and the stout stick that he had found along the way. It would make a decent club with a little work but was far from being long enough for a spear or javelin.
"Well done." He said softly. "A fine first hunt."
Skrik watched the goblin's reaction carefully for a long moment. . It wouldn't be unreasonable for the strong to steal from the weak. That wasn't his intention but the thoughts of the living are frequently inaccurate. It's better to be prepared for any response. After a moment of silent consideration, Skrik spoke up again.
"I have some things that I need to gather and things to make. If you help, you can hunt with me."
@Dark Cloud The true "Mighty Goblin" then! That'll work well. Subtlety and power do tend to go well together. I'm really hoping to be able to get a start on some kind of magic soon. But, Skrik's path to magic... isn't likely to go through a deity. Who knows... It's all fumbling in the dark, after all.
