Current I am bad, and that is good. I will never be good, and that's not bad. There is no-one I'd rather be, but me.

Ooooo.... Magic. I hadn't thought of that (which is silly considering my character literally uses magic to manipulate tech). I can definitely see that having potential although (as I am sure Coins thesis surmised) it would be difficult to achieve the magic side of things through technology considering (if I am right in my thinking) magic tends to be although is not exclusively sourced from people. I'm actually really looking forwards to perhaps having some in character multi-character build projects going on between missions.

P.S. I don't see doors being a problem between Bit and Ashley. If its techy she can open it, if it is mechanical he can blow it up.
Lol. Glad it makes sense and I actually had the thought "damn that'll be loud" ages ago when i first read the new content on human weaponry as I like to think I am a bit of a guns nerd. I only thought to mention it reading through all the posts about kickass guns and explosives though. I quite enjoy thinking about the mechanics of such things even if. I am no good at making them myself.

I can see coin having a lot of fun with all the variants of weaponry. Imagine the potential of a hybrid energy and kinetic energy weapon or the fun that could be had working together Bit's explosives knowledge for heavy weapons (which the hummingbird might need at some point hint hint nudge nudge.). If we add their combined mechanical skills and Ashley's programming ability we have almost the complete package for creating effective things that go boom.
Ashley, noting Coin was giving her the once over returned the gesture and decided that her overall impression was that the woman was both courteous and professional, something Ashley probably lacked with her overly relaxed and perhaps slightly blunt albeit friendly demeanour and overly casual attire. She'd also noted the woman wasn't unattractive in the slightest but quickly pushed such thoughts to the back of her mind. This wasn't the time to be admiring someones body and she had questions to be answering.

"Well..." Ashley began, raising her hand to run it back through her tomboyish hair as she thought about her reply. "Put simply I use magic to near completely immerse my consciousness in a device and use it. I can also use the ability to modify code and such but I mostly use it for piloting. Used to be that I was just really good at working things but the ability kinda evolved and hey presto here I am... What about yourself? I heard you guys talking about tech. It's kinda why I came across. Birds of a feather flock together and all that." She finished feeling lame for even having thought let alone said that phrase. Nonetheless she smiled confidently, perhaps a little cockily, it had been a while since she'd had a casual conversation and Ashley was enjoying herself.
Thanks for welcoming me back guys and for the snappy reply from you baskets. I'm glad I'm not going to have to miss out on the conversations entirely.

Edit:
Random note for the technologically minded. Suppressors as we know them wouldn't work in this setting. At least not on their own. A modern suppressor works by A. Capturing excess gas from the weapon to reduce the sound created by the gas outside of the barrel and B. Slowing down the bullet as much as possible (ideally to subsonic speeds) to reduce the volume of the sonic boom created by the bullet. Seeing as in the setting bullets travel many many times the velocity of our current ones (which i assume means guns require a form of advanced recoil compensation to be safe to operate) slowing the bullet down isn't as much of an option. A suppressor could still be employed for excess gas however the likely solution for the sonic boom would be altering the bullet shape to modify aerodynamics and thus reduce the sonic boom that way. The modified bullets would likely be lighter as a result and so have less force on impact with targets though and be more prone to drifting. Sorry for the "rant" just got thinking about it and rambled.
I'm happy to chat seeing as ashley just started up a convo but not too bothered if everyone is desperate to move along to mission brief and combat. I quite enjoy the social side of things but I know not everyone is that way inclined.
Ashley opened her mouth to reply to Ra'reth but found that almost immediately after her friend was swarmed by a number of more individuals. When Ashley heard Shiva's question, the one relating to her possible employment at the UN, she chuckled and replied "I was... Once upon a time." Before smiling saddly and breaking off from the group to sit herself down in a seat way too big for any human. It was probably meant for masalu and as a result the cushioning was rock hard to her lightweight body but nonetheless Ashley liked it as it meant she could slump herself in as casually as she wanted and, this time, bring her knees up to her chest in contemplation.

Sylar had been unable to say much about the mission they were about to go on, perhaps because the operatives sent to gain his help were reluctant to put classified operation details into the hands of a known kingpin in the criminal network but he'd been able to tell her enough that she knew if she took on a role here it would likely be more permanent than any of her jobs since the UN postions. Ashley's code of "honour" had for a long time prevented her taking on such employment. Many of the missions she had taken on whilst she was with the UN had been heroic for the human race and Ashley had no regrets relating to those however many missions had been blacker than black with results Ashley would rather forget. Argueaby many of Ashley's moral choices since leaving the UN were not brilliant however at least they were her own mistakes and she could take and act on lessons from those. Joining another organisation and taking orders once more raised concerns that worried Ashley significantly. Would she be forced into more missions she'd have to carry as a burden? Then again the life of a mercenary was a lonely one and some companionship would be welcomed again. Looking up at the noteably diverse gathering Ashley decided to quit moping and introduce herself. Hearing a pair talking tech Ashley forced a smile on her face, stood up and headed over. Being able to possess technology she was able to natter about it all day if she wanted.

"Hi." She said to the dirophyd and the human woman, offering out a hand for a handshake as she did so. "The names Ashley Munroy. Paid mercenary specialising in tech manipulation, computer modification and piloting. Nice to meet you."
Sorry guys. I've been thrown outta my dads place (well... Technically i left but it has been made clear I am not welcome back) and then struck by what i beleive to be a stress induced illness in the same two days I got a full time (temp) job. The time I haven't spent working has been primarily spent sleeping off the illness I am afraid. I'll get a post done now if it is appropriate.

Hope you are all well!

EDIT:

Ugh. I can tell i am out of practice. Forgive the nasty, blocky paragraph in the middle of that post. I figured it was a good way to explain her silence and simultaneously do a little character building.
I stand corrected. The more you know... :)
Ignoring the cyborg as best she could Ashley did her best to respond without squeeling like a teenage girl having met her favourite boyband. Not many mercenaries or bounty hunters made it into magazines for anything but their failiures so Ashley made a point of reading positive materials on mercenaries whenever she could hoping to learn the secrets for her own marketing purposes. It appeared Augusts positive publicity had worn off on her more than she'd realised. Ashley returned August's handshake with her gloved hand, the fingerless fighting gloves gripping firmly until she released August's hand moments later.

"My names Ashley." She replied. "I have no idea if we're on time but I prefer to maintain that I'm late until I know... I dunno if theres going to be anywhere for me to change into my suit either so the aviator jacket and combat trousers will just have to do... I like your work by the way. That thing with starclaw... Amazing and I can't believe you had a fling with the lunar ministers nephew."
FINALY got my post done. I reckon I'm getting back into the swing of things a bit. Now I need to read everyone elses posts (Sorry. I fell behind.)
