Current I am bad, and that is good. I will never be good, and that's not bad. There is no-one I'd rather be, but me.

Sorry, my post was allowing for the character to change typesRe-spec .... not sure about making a quest thing available, but generally speaking, it's not like having some agility is bad. It still helps, and there can always be the transitioning phase. However, I am up for you to re-spec still but don't really think there would be a possibility to re-spec

I don't think there would be a quest to re-spec... It wouldn't be akihiko's style to let people reverse the consequences of their decisions hence I was planning to either just ignore continuity and just switch up stats or have some form of unique event happen i.e. a glitch or something similar. Some agility isn't bad but a 19 agility 9 strength split is pretty extreme and I'd probably be looking to switch to the other extreme for a straight up tank.

With shield skills .... Let me think on that a bitI mean, does it apply like sword skills? Therefore a shiny shield? I don't think that was a thing. Just let us discuss the shield skills a bit more okay?

Nahh there were no shiny shields in canon sao but perhaps they didn't need to be. Shields are much more passive than swords in what they do so perhaps didn't need as heavy a focus on activation... all this is speculation however. I am primarily thinking as a game mechanic for the roleplay here rather than canon SAO as a lot was left unexplained. More than happy to discuss with you about this though

Also the thing about lances ...Although we saw them, unsure how they were classified and usedI am unsure if they would be an Extra skill or not, but they did only show up laterIt would not JUST require one thing though, Extra skill unlocks seem to be more complex and unknown than simply, get skill to this level or complete this quest

I think lances may just be high level spears to be honest. Now I think about it I didn't see anything like glaives or such later on in the anime.
>^_^< thanks. I refer to the above questions in terms of equipment and the relevant moves. I will wait until after this melee to effect the changes in character... I may have to ask people to turn a blind eye to continuity problems unless they can think of an IC way to get a character re-spec.
also. should their be shield moves? I know the ones we saw in the anime were primarily extra skills but it occurs to me that if shield is a combat skill it may well have moves like <<Brace>> <<Block>> or <<Counter>>, potentially something like <<Defence Stance>> too as a kind of combat mode. I've already referenced brace IC with Shurikai as a low level defensive shield move. One that basically reduces staggering, physical statuses like Bleed and reduces damage a little.

I might go with a lance if I am going for a true Tank set up. That set up seemed popular in the anime, particularly in the raid party for The Army and the Knights Alliance. I imagine low level lances would amount to little more than a spear though. Perhaps lances are a form of heavy spear unlocked by levelling the skill?
Shurikai raised an eyebrow, puzzled for a moment by the expression of shock contorting Kingetsu's face. "What is i...?" Shurikai began before getting cut off by the loud announcement of "MONSTERS!". Shurikai whirled on the spot to sight the threat as Kingetsu prepared then sped off ahead of them. Shurikai chose to switch shield for acrobatics however kept his dagger skill in place to operate dagger sword skills. The horde was certainly intimidating but such situations tended to push Shurikai to engage rather than flee. This was one such situation and he felt the element of choice was gone for him anyway when he saw an insanely young girl running ahead of the horde. Shurikai cast an apologetic glance at his brother before charging off after kingetsu.

Shurikai opened into the horde with the move <<Rapid Bite>> managing to cut into two opponents on the charge and sending one pre-damaged one into dust. His rashness was punished however as a vine whipped forth from one of the low level monsters and lashed Shurikai across the back. Shurikai staggered for a moment before righting himself and adopting his combat stance. Now he was here he felt in the horde it would perhaps have been better to equip shield but afforded little time to this thought, instead opening up with a roar and a flurry of fast, frenzied dagger attacks.
Hey all. Hope I am not holding things up at all by not responding. Last week was pure madness followed by a weekend of awesome and so I wasn't at the computer much aside from during work in which I may have got some cheeky responses in to roleplays that had less content to respond to. This week should be much better.
Hey all. I'm typing up a post at the moment to keep things rolling but am considering switching character role to shield bearer/tank due to the gap overall. It would require a significant change of skills and stats to be effective however for my character to be effective in this and so I would need permission to re-spec.
I will be significantly more active IC this week. I promise.
Finally got a post done. Sorry I am slowing things down. Next week should be much better for posts on my part.
Shurikai breathed a sigh of relief as Kingetsu decided to accept their party request, grateful that things hadn't slid in the other direction towards anything tense. Players in the field, Shurikai included, tended to be wary of any potential threat including other played and so Shurikai accepted the handshake gratefully if a little formally and without word.

The relief Shurikai had had moments before turned to an inwards groan as his elder brother broke that unwritten rule of revealing not just his but both of their levels to the newcomer then offered to take care of the 28 year old male. Revealing ones level was a dramatic gesture of trust between player and best not done with strangers. If it turned out Kingetsu was a significantly higher level he could well decide to wipe the floor with the two of them in a PK attack and in the other case it was just plain intimidating even as a gesture of trust. Hopefully the man took it the way Shurikai knew Firelord meant it. Deciding he'd probably come off rude Shurikai decided to make his first venture into the conversation.

"That's fine." He said simply. "You can learn on the job and leave anytime if you feel uncomfortable or whatever... I need to sort myself out a new shield too anyway." He continued in the same simple, matter-of-fact manner.

"Shall we head to town?" Shurikai asked Firelord when he was done talking.
I have a shield but it's more for gladiatorial style counters and such rather than tanking. I'm not sure with my statline I'll be going into tanking anytime soon either.
