3, 5, 6, and 7 are things I can see myself saying, depending on preceding conversation.

By which I mean that, for example, "the boy [who left home] came back" makes sense if I were clarifying between two different boys, one of whom left home and one did not. If I were not clarifying in such a way, I'd be unlikely to include the "who left home" part.

Hope that helps?

2. I disagree with some things you said, I don't think they're necessarily meant to be useful, they're just naturally occurring compensations for sentency fuck ups.

Which can be useful so you don't have to start the whole sentence again, at least in speech. ^^

Oh because someone is a regular we have to treat them better or something?

If anything it means we should treat you worse. Don't come in here with that elitist bullshit. You know better.

That's not what Awson was getting at. Of all people, how is Awson an elitist? And it's also not the reason Nex was critical - it's because he was fricking irritated by this god-awful forced insertion of 4chan BS into every single one of Dinh's posts. You're allowed to not like people and to express that dislike. Nothing to do with "elitism". >_> Not that I don't think Nex could have been less unreasonably harsh with his words, but shit, we don't all have to be delicate flower children.
I just googled what they are and... ew. Just ew. Every example on wikipedia made me cringe. I get that they can perhaps be useful in exceedingly long sentences, but still.
HOW HAS NOBODY MADE THE VERY OBVIOUS CRUDE SEXUAL JOKE YET
I am so disappointed in you guys
As much as it sticks in my throat to admit it, I understand Dinh's argument because it's made from a statistical standpoint rather than the more red-pill-esque, bitterness-driven codswallop the OP is spouting.
We've had beautifully warm but reasonable weather here in Edinburgh recently, and today it broke with a slightly chilly drizzle in the evening. It's literally perfect. Hah. :3
