So, I think it's pretty much been established (by the fanbase, simultaneously) that the two corrupted gems that Jasper poofed were corrupted Jaspers. I think it's safe to assume that Rose knew them.

Gems do grow up. They grow in personality, spirit, and knowledge. That's what is difficult for Emeralds. They don't know what they are supposed to do, where to go, how to even figure out any of this. 1st Emerald had a bit of an advantage, he could've been a lot worse. Some Emeralds are closer to half-corrupted Centipeetles.
