Prog cursed himself and his inability to look where he was going as he was falling at not-quite-terminal speed. His wings were working at full capacity, not flying, but not really stopping his descent either. He'd survive the fall, no doubt, but if he landed wrong he'd end up with a fractured shell and that hurt like hell. Endoskeletal species had it easy. A broken bone, slap a piece of exoskeleton on the limb for a while and it'll heal up nice and well. Other way around doesn't work quite as well, he'd have to walk around with it and simply wait for it to heal up in a month or so.
As the ground got closer and closer a large group of people emerged from nowhere, going everywhere. "Nothing breaks a fall as well as a warm husk" he thought and aimed for one of them, a human female. He called out to her so she could catch him, but while everyone around her got the point and moved away she seemed distracted by a piece of tech on her wrist. As he got closer he was sure that the noise from his wings would be enough to grab her attention, but the arm-tech seemed to go ballistic and took up all of her time.
"Force-assisted landing it is, then."
He had some manoeuvrability in the air thanks to his wings and took aim at the woman's back. He placed his hands on her shoulders and started to channel his momentum into her straight downwards as to not damage the spine. One leg was placed right next to the spine to help keep the back straight. As he put more and more weight on her (more than he really weighed thanks to the G-force) her legs started to bend. She had no control over it, it was simply her body's way of trying not to get crushed into a pulp by the extremely heavy thing on her back. When the knees had done what they could she fell forward, ready to use her arms to dissipat more of the force into the floor. Right when her hands caught the floor with a clapping noise Prog slid off to the side into a half-roll and ended up on his back, not a scratch, lucky.
As the woman had been forced to the floor by his sheer momentum unprepared she would take a bit longer to recover. Indeed, when she finally managed to stop her face from kissing the steel floor Prog was already halfway standing.
"Thanks for the assist, if not for you I'd be in serious pain right now. Wish I could stick around to thank you properly but I'm on the run."
He dropped the credit-chip he'd used earlier in the bar in the floor in front of the woman, turned around and started to run through the crowd toward the planet side of the station, and his first meeting with a new employer. He didn't wan to arrive there last, first impressions are very important.
