Mt. Hope Academy...Yes, the word itself seemed to have an air of elegance and regality surrounding it, saying the word just roll's off one's tongue. Originally, it came from the Land of the Rising Sun, Japan and was known as Kibougamine Gakuen, or 'Hope's Peak Academy', but all the success and stories surrounding it garnered more than enough attention for all of the world to cock their heads to it. Whether on live TV news, the papers and tabloids, magazines, and even making rounds online, at first I was a little skeptical...What was so special about it anyway that it got that much attention? Was there a scandal surrounding it? Did one of the students get in some sort of trouble? Or was it really just a slow news day that time that they decided to cover a news story about a school? Well, I guess was ignorant at that time. It turned out that the academy is really picky about their students, in that they only accept the best of the best, and I'm not talking about best at every subject from English to Science (Although I'm pretty sure they'd accept someone like that.), they hunt down students with exceptional talents and those that are still in high school.
Now, I didn't really pay much attention to this until Mt. Hope Academy had opened up. Basically, it was an American branch of the original academy, and it came to a shock for me when I received an invitation saying I was
"formally invited" to the academy and shape the future generation with my skills. Needless formality isn't something I personally like but who was I to deny a grandeur invitation? Knowing that my designs could actually hit the world by storm one day, I immediately packed my things and set off for the academy, but not before giving my mother one big squeeze and informing her that she had better get ready for my grand entrance to international fame! Now, I've only ever seen the academy from pictures but to actually see it towering over me was both intimidating and exciting! Taking a deep breath, I clutched the invitation in my hand and my suitcase in the other and entered the school grounds, however...The moment I stepped forward, my body tensed up from a sharp pain in my head, everything was...spinning...What is this? I put a hand over my head and stopped on my tracks to try and alleviate the headache, but even that seemed to worsen it. Eventually, I found myself hitting the cold, hard ground and my eyes felt heavy...It was as if the Sandman was trying to force me into slumber by sitting on them and in a matter of seconds, I drifted into unconsciousness...
I awoke to the sound of a very, very,
VERY annoying voice...It was so squeaky and high-pitched, you'd almost mistake the person was a cartoon character...I got up from my slumber and surveyed my surroundings, the floor was wooden and the room could only be described as a gym. Everywhere around me were other slumbering students, still deep in their sleep, but after a few seconds they all seemed to be waking up one by one, the biggest question however, is how did I-and everyone else for that matter-get here? Last I remember, I was at the entrance about to enter this prestigious academy, heck I didn't even realize other people were going to attend since I didn't even
SEE anyone at the entrance. Scratching my eyes for a moment, I regained composure only to be greeted by some sort of...plushie? It looked awfully cute, I wouldn't mind collecting it just for shits and giggles but that idea was quickly shot down when it began to speak...
I listened in horror as the bear toy explained to all of us that we were trapped inside the very school we were supposed to attend, and the only way of escaping was...murder?! That's stupid, ridiculous! That might just be me in denial but surely there must be some other way to escape this school without shedding blood, right? B-Besides...No one would really commit homicide just to get outside right? Then I immediately remember an article I read once, saying that people who cage themselves in for extended periods of time tend to get...unstable. It was questionable, sure, but at the time I never thought I'd actually be pushed into a situation where high school kids have to murder each other just to see the light of day again...
Then there was the talk of the class trial? Was that like some sort of court trial or another trial altogether? Before I could even ask the bear he disappeared behind the podium, but not before informing us all that we had ID's inside our pockets. I began to reach around my pocket to confirm, and true to his word there was a card-like object lodged inside of my pants. I can only hope that was the only thing that was there. I booted the thing up and it displayed my name in all of its glory, along with my blood type, height, weight, measurements, the basics. It even came with a map detailing the first floor! Oh joy. Now, while I'd like to gather clues and try to find out where we are right now, it would seem that the other students have certain things in mind first, like introductions...
