"...Elauna?" Despite her calm, Aya couldn't hide the look of surprise that appeared on her face. This was the girl that Destin wanted to replace her? She didn't seem a thing like a healer. Should she just tell Elauna what was going on? No... This girl seemed cruel in some way. She answered her question in order to try to mask her surprise. "I'm a Rabin healer and my name's Aya. That's all there is to it." She frowned. "I don't need to make a choice like that, so I'm certainly not going to tell you."
Aya shrugs, trying not to let the shot at her group get to her. "Well, they know I'm here. If I don't show up in a little while they'll come looking." That wasn't true in the slightest, but Aya wanted Elauna to think that she couldn't be held here forever. She had to bite her tongue at the mention of Destin. It still didn't feel right to tell a Brom what was going. "So... Who are you?" She asks, trying to change the topic of conversation.
Aya allowed herself to relax before she began to talk. She had gotten quite good at lying to patients when she didn't want them to know how bad things were. She knew it did no good to look nervous. "Everyone's always so busy at camp, you know. Since I'm the only healer I think they forget how much effort my job takes. They don't want to come out looking for herbs with me, you know? Even though it's gotten colder, you can sometimes find a few by the river if you're lucky." She felt that she was throwing the Rabins under the bus, but she couldn't think of any other excuse to being alone.
Aya sighs. It would be stupid to run when a wolf could easily catch her. She could shift and fly away, but then Destin would be left wondering where she went. In fact, it was probably better that she couldn't leave here. At least Destin would know where she was. Maybe he could even talk this Brom down from keeping her. After all, what else could they do with her? She looks at Elauna carefully. She didn't really have the face of a nice personality.
"I'm sorry..." Aya said to both of them, bowing her head in apology. "Please, just let me go. I won't tell anybody about what happened! And I promise, I'll never cross the river again after this." In fact, I'll barely have a reason to go near the river. She hoped that Destin would show up soon and find the Brom he'd been talking about. She just wanted to get away from these people. Even though they seemed unwilling to harm her, who knew how quickly the minds of these strangers would change.
Aya lets out a sigh of relief and stands up, brushing off her pants. "Um, thanks for recognising me." She hesitates, not sure where to go with this conversation. It seemed unsafe to just tell two Broms that Destin was going to leave them from the Rabins, but it seemed an equally bad idea to lie about knowledge of Destin's whereabouts. In the end she settled for a compromise of not specifying what was going on. "Ah... Well... I saw him on the other side of the river not too long ago. It looked like he was heading deeper in your side of the forest." She looks with fear at Jayden and takes a few steps backwards. "S-sorry. I didn't realise I was on your territory."
"Aaah!" Aya screamed, totally unprepared for the assault. Really, she should have seen this coming. Didn't she know by now that the Broms patrolled their borders like hounds? "Please! Let me go!" she begged, struggling against what she realised was a wolf. She didn't know whether to be relieved or concerned that she didn't recognise the shifter. At the very least, it wasn't Fabine who was attacking her. She remembered that he was an owl.
Name of character: Gerald "The Boss" Perdu
Your name (nickname), only if something other than your screen name: BOSSEH
Age: ??? (Very old)
Gender: Male
Appearance: Pale and hunched over with no hair and a hooked nose. Constantly shaking and bandaged to cover the places he's injected himself. Actually wears nice close including a snazzy jacket.
Personality: The Boss, as he is known by his entire family, has a personality born entirely of his circumstance. He was born to two shifting parents and was fascinated by their ability as a child. They both died when he was 18 in an accident. They had lived most of their lives in a group of shifters and thus as adults had very little money to leave him. Instead, The Boss simply waited for his shifting ability to come to him in the hope that he too would join the group they had once been a part of. However, by his mid-twenties there was no sign of the latent ability unlocking within him, which went against everything his parents had explained. The Boss went searching for the answer to this conundrum, refusing to believe that it simply wasn't in his genetic coding. He travelled the world for many years using the little money his parents had scrounged together and met with shifters everywhere, from temples to back alleys, from oceans to mountain tops and yet none could answer him on how to shift. He had been told as a child that shifting was his birthright, and that shifters could easily find their place in this world. It felt as though a piece of himself had been stolen from him. Thankfully his travels were not fruitless. He met many a lover throughout the world, and even stories spread of the non-shifter determined to reclaim the ability fate had forsaken him. He eventually had a following of people who too wished to join him in his quest to shift. From those who were his lovers, The Boss received many children and decided that they too would one day shift as he should have been able to. This mass of followers and relations became known to him as 'Family'. Among them were rich donors, turning the Family into an organisation called the Servals. The Boss came to care for all of those part of the inner family. They had the same struggle as he did, the loss of identity from never being able to shift. He was so lucky at one point to have one son that shifted, but the child died young from a disease. Getting on in his years, The Boss realised that the worldwide search his organisation had conducted was not enough. They would have to go deeper. They would have to go into the DNA which had betrayed each and every one of them. He conducted many experiments on himself, and still does to this day, desperate to unlock the potential in his genes. With all the effort he has put into this venture, he no longer cares about the children who die under his knife or the knives of his scientists. He only wants one thing - to cure the inability to shift that he and his family has. Even if he must die doing it. What we have here is a man with a purpose. The only thing he cares equally about is his family, and this is all for them.
Rank: THE BOSS
Group: Mafia
Animal: Non-shifter
Weapon and Fighting style: In his travels, learned how to use a bo. His walking cane makes for a nice substitute, but he's incredibly fragile all the same.
Name of character: Brianna
Your name (nickname), only if something other than your screen name: ZEE
Age: 35
Gender: Female
Appearance: Average height with black hair kept in a high bun, black eyes and a tight face which has the appearance of discontent when at rest. She's almost always found in a labcoat, even when in her apartment, simply because she feels most comfortable in them.
Personality: Brianna has two halves to herself - professional and everyday. The older she has become, the more she remains in her professional personality. Even before involving herself in the project of The Boss she'd worked in labs that were morally-comprised at best. Her involvement in this type of work was born from the belief that everyday science didn't go far enough or use its resources to the extreme to achieve the best outcome. Given the toll that these jobs could have on one's mental state, Brianna conditioned herself to see subjects as nothing more than tools. Thus she speaks professionally to them and refuses to call them by name. Her everyday self is one who believes in nurturing the people around her to grow to the best of their ability, something she felt her parents did well in response to her superior intellect as a young child. That kind side of herself tends to mix in with her professional self, giving her the overall appearance of being creepy. She doesn't particularly care about the money or the results of these experiments, only the new knowledge which is born from them.
Rank: Scientist
Group: Mafia
Animal: Non-shifter
Weapon and Fighting style: Cannot fight.
Other: Has a German accent
Aya smiles happily and sits on the ground by the river, enjoying the view. She so rarely came just to look at this place since she was so often scared of running into Broms. The threat of that happening now ran through her mind for a second but she calmed herself and just focused on the rushing water. Destin would be back soon. There was nothing to worry about.
