@Ladypug Just ask Geralt. I’m sure he’ll give you enough reasons.

The value of a hypocrite’s criticism doesn’t depreciate because of their lack of awareness. It’s the best opportunity to grow, and not become just as oblivious. It’s also hilarious asf to witness.
Okay everyone... it’s currently 11:47 am, Pacific Standard Time. I’ll close applications at midnight so there’s still plenty of time to apply. I’ll be going through sheets more thoroughly late tonight and will make a post about who gets accepted by the morning.
Here’s a list of updates so far. More updates will be added as the story starts/progresses.
Universal Translators: These are an optional privilege given via USS Medical & Research, but mandatory for all Trident members. It is a small device surgically implanted behind the ear, or wherever auditory sensory input is located on the person, allowing for real time translation. Standard USS dive suits come equipped with a more dated version of these devices that are riddled with translation errors.
Neural link: Is another optional privilege given by USS Medical & Research. This allows instant internet and communications browsing, and connects with the Universal Translator to keep its language database up-to-date.
TIMELINE
♦ 2027: Obsidian’s Hand makes contact with Nautrias. ♦ 2035: The start of the first major Droquilian civil war. ♦ 2040: The Coalition is formed. ♦ 2105: Ugatchicora is the first Droquilian-Coalition to become a member of the USS Senate. ♦ 2120: The USS fully establishes their presence on planet Nautrias. ♦ 2125: Rear Admiral Gildeon Omarkei green lights the Trident. ♦ 2127: The Trident begins its second campaign.
NPCs
Name: Zolfix Bio: The appointed go-between for all of Obsidian’s Hand operations on planet Nautrias. He is a Puricon, birthed into upper royalty and destined to sit at the highest table in the noble court. However, he declined the seat for a greater opportunity with Obsidian’s Hand. He reaps the benefits as their trusted employee, and believes he’s above Puricon law.
Name: The Founders Bio: From left to right, Vesavi, Cyrika, & Itreilu are the trifecta leadership of the Coalition. Vesavi governs the needs of the people and is loved by many. Cyrika commands the military and is feared by most. Itreilu accounts for logistics and is perceived as the intelligent one.
Together, with the combined defenses of the United Star Sector, The Founders have kept the Puricons and Obsidian’s Hand at bay, but it’s only a matter of time before another civil war sparks the seas, yet again.
Name: Urien Nakan Bio: His full identity is rarely disclosed. Zolfix, his droquilian-puricon liaison, isn’t even sure if he’s seen the synthoid’s true identity. He exists amongst all things, sifting between technologies as a holographic deity. He is the supreme overseer of Obsidian’s Hand’s entire Nautrias operation. His eyes are on the prize, never waning, even with the USS meddling into their affairs.
Name: Captain Weaver Sinclaire Bio: Weaver Sinclaire served under Rear Admiral Gildeon Omarkei as they established their USS base on planet Nautrias. After careful consideration, she conceded with his plan to spearhead the Trident force, retiring her original rank to become a volunteer-class ship captain. She is recognized as the group’s leader with Atrigan as her second-in-command. Weaver is an altered human whose vital organs and musculoskeletal system is replaced with synthetics capable of handling Nautrias’ environment.
Age: 30 Race: Droquilian-Coalition Appearance: Atrigan is considered as a lower-tiered Droquilian in Puricon respects. In truth, he resembles any other male of his species that isn’t of high nobility. He’s a slim bipedal that stands a little under 6 feet. Atrigan has hardened skin, textured with callouses along the sides of his skull and jaw, a badge from enduring harsh, lower depth pressure missions. The main fin on top of his pate scales to the back of his skull and frays into dreadlock-styled tendrils. His neon-green eyes are his standout features, filled with life, and electrifies with an intensity like that of the bioluminescent eels of the Swaying Coves.
The Slip Suit is specifically designed for Atrigan’s biology, a joint Droquilian-USS prototype. It comes with a standard biometric and close quarter communications HUD. The inner layer is coated with a special material that allows for enhanced kinesiology. The outer layer serves as pressurized armor for Nautrias’ more deeper, underwater depths, and can also emit different types of cardiac pulses to throw off sonar radars. Seaweed camo attached to the helmet works best in lit areas and provides limited stealth invisibility.
Sonicwave-Pistol & Rifle with Channelers The sonicwave arsenal in his repertoire is designed to disable enemies with acoustic blasts. These concussive forces are honed and fine-tuned by Channelers. Channelers are like silencers, muffling the blast so nobody else within its radius gets afflicted.
Personality: While he takes his work very seriously, Atrigan prefers to handle pressure with a more laidback demeanor. While he postures with a more relaxed persona, his mind is constantly in thought, calculating, forming contingencies, and thinking three steps ahead. He is a proud Droquilian who loves his planet and hates what the Obsidian’s Hand has done to it. He is indifferent to the USS. While he is grateful for their help, and fascinated by their ways, he does not fully trust their motives.
Backstory: Atrigan’s goals boil down to three things: Repel the Obsidian’s Hand invaders from his planet, topple the old edicts of the Puricons, and establish a true democracy for all of Nautrias’ races. Atrigan was originally part of the Coalition Spy Network that specialized in gathering intel on Puricon-Obsidian’s Hand activity. He was one of the first enlisted, vouched for by Coalition higher ups. He served as lead reconnaissance in his first year as a Trident, and has been promoted to a leadership role into his second year.
Miscellaneous: Atrigan loves off-worlder food, especially the human cuisine called pasta. He also loves to watch movies and cartoons, putting the universal translator embedded into his neural system to good use as he’s able to watch and understand all sorts of alien cinema.
@Nyxira@Jasper19A treasure hunter/excavator type would be cool to have and another vital asset for recovering precious items/people from wrecked ships or badly damaged underwater places!
I’ll be creating a Droquilian-Coalition spy guy, but he won’t be a too cool for school type. He’ll help run point on Trident missions, but the Commanding role is shared between him and a human USS NPC.
I’ll be updating the character tab with NPCs, my main, and a basic timeline in the next couple of days.
After I accept character sheets on Monday (11pm Pacific Standard Time), expect to start sometime between Tuesday-Wednesday of this week :)
Papaya Island. Beautiful and majestic, filled with all types of fauna and peculiar creatures, along with so many other noteworthy things, but the World Tournament wasn’t among them.
“What the heck!” Ponzu slammed his hammer into the ground. The seismic impact created a small fissure. “Where’s the friggin tournament at?”
“You dingus!” Cogo narrowly escaped from falling into the chasm. He picked up a loose rock and chucked it back at Ponzu. “Watch where you’re swinging that thing!”
Ponzu snapped his fingers, summoning a small portal to shield him from the rock. The projectile went through it, then dropped down from another portal that opened above Cogo’s head.
Bang!
Cogo’s little demon eyes protruded out from his silver hair in cartoonish fashion. Ponzu gave a hearty laugh, flashing his fangs.
“You stupid idiot!” Cogo’s eyes watered. “I told you the thief was right! It’s not for another year or so. We came here for nothing!”
Ponzu thought back to the Thief they interrogated. He remembered what he said about the dragon balls and where the strongest people might be, because he reasoned that only the strong could possess something so powerful.
“Hmph!” Ponzu spat. “That fool probably lied to us to save his own hide. We should go back there and finish what we started on that good for nothin piece of-”
“Or…” Cogo scratched his head, rubbing the bruise from the rock. “We can forget the tournament all together and just look for strong people ourselves.”
“Ugh, that’ll take too long! I want the dragon balls now!” Ponzu rolled his eyes and groaned.
He raised his hammer to slam it down onto the ground again to vent his frustration, but his eyes caught sight of something off into the distance. Three streaks of light flashed vibrantly into the sky, streaking down from the atmosphere.
“Whoa!” Cogo saw it too, following their trajectory with his finger until they disappeared into the horizon.
“You think those might be dragon balls!?” Ponzu said, excitedly. Cogo gave an awkward shrug.
“I’m not sure. Didn’t the thief say after the dragon balls are used, they shoot up and outward, separating into different directions?” Cogo said.
Ponzu blew a raspberry.
“That idiot lied to us about the tournament. Maybe he even lied to us about the dragon balls, but either way, we don’t have squat to go on, so lets just go in its direction. Maybe we’ll pick up some clues along the way…”
Cogo’s innocent demeanor then shifted into an evil grin as he rubbed his palms together. “And…maybe we can pull a couple more pranks on some unsuspecting earthlings?”
“Why of course, you buffoon!” Ponzu laughed, kicking up dirt at Cogo’s face as he ran forward. Cogo chased after him with more rock throwing. He still didn’t learn his lesson, not after the second time Ponzu used a portal to redirect the rock back at him, nor the third, fourth, or fifth. The two demon kids clumsily moved in the direction of where they assumed would be the impact site, readily distracted by whatever obstacle they encountered along the way.
♦ Time: Afternoon ♦ Location: Central Point - Entre Dos Islas ♦ Interaction:@Baraquiel@Pilatus Link to Yoji’s character bio.
The dichotomy between the next two customers didn’t go unnoticed by Yoji. The first one was alluring in her own right, a red-headed foreigner with a distinct French accent. She seemed as free flowing as the gentle breeze, with a genuine curiosity which may have drawn her to his out-of-the-ordinary establishment in the first place.
“Bonjour!” He replied back with a grin, then said, “Bon Choix!” To her choice for the Teofilo Tonkatsu.
“That’ll be 4.00. Would you like this to-go, or do you prefer to eat here? Either way, you’re free to wait over at the dining section on the other side.”
The next customer was a blonde woman who carried herself with a confident authority. She wasted no time in the transaction. She knew what she wanted to order, paid the 4 dollars, then took a seat in the dining section. As she did, the previous three customers Yoji had chatted with, cleaned up their mess and politely made room for the new patrons.
“Come back again my friends! Entre Dos Islas is always at this location!” Yoji said aloud, the tinge of a very slight Cubano accent seeping in as it always did when his voice went at a higher register. He focused his attention back to his new customers.
“Your orders should be out in a bit!” Yoji said to each of them, glancing over to Ernesto and James, who were working the kitchen with ease. “My little elves over here are working their magic today!”
Both of them playfully cursed at Yoji, then nodded with a smile at the two ladies. Yoji poured iced water into two ceramic cups, then set them with straws in front of both customers. The colorful ceramics had Entre Dos Islas worded vertically in a graffiti-styled font, connecting the Cuban and Japanese Island pieces together, each end wrapping around to the other side, into the handle of the cup.
Yoji stared at his own craftsmanship for a split second, noting their imperfections like he always did. The cups’ design was the food truck logo, shone with better artistic flair on the chest of Yoji’s blue work shirt, which was also his creation. The artistic perfectionist in him thought it all sucked, but his uncle loved it. He grinned at the memory of arguing with uncle Hanjiro over the whole ordeal. I better check up on him on my next break...
“So, are you ladies having a nice weekend so far?” Yoji asked, his hazel eyes shifting between them. “Any fun plans?”
He loved starting group conversations with unacquainted customers. It was a great way to find out about a lot of things in what little time he shared with them.
