I know it is, Kestrel! Playing a bit with my character. She interrupted the active so there should be some sort of "drawback"... That's what I am doing :)

I am leaving for Singapore tomorrow. Will not be able to post for the rest of September. Give me some small time to settle back in when I'm back!! :D
The Clayman's Finale

Quickly, one of the golems was down. Their combined skills and proper team work was starting to work. Who would have thought that after all, they could take them down in a relatively simple way! Salia nodded to Lux’s words as she tried to be as little of a burden as possible, while still receiving his help when moving forward. She felt her leg was still good enough but not straining it too much was probably a good option, at least before being forced to fight properly. Who knew where a good reserve of energy might come in hand.

The fight was going on wildly with Maria rapidly engaging their foe. The sounds were clear as Lux and Salia herself were edging closer. “Move, move! I’ll catch up, don’t leave her alone!” Salia insisted to Lux that he should move on. She was too slow to catch up quickly but that did not mean he should not assist their comrade. He moved onwards but did not get far before encountering Adeline. Salia was then soon with them… and the battle right in front, too.

“Don’t worry, I’m fine!” Salia told Adeline as she, together with Lux, moved to the battle. Cold-based magic from her partner had saved Maria, and not it was time for Salia to do something. Her sword was the weapon she trusted more, and her speed, unparalleled. The answer was clear and putting more energy on her perfectly healthy leg, Salia launched an attack on the woman that had been attacking Maria. From far away, sword pointed forward. A piercing attack instead of a swinging one, clearly focused on speed. What a shame that she did not have a rapier, or she could have been even faster. Hopefully, using her DASH skill would be enough to hit their enemy. Salia was convinced it would be, as her eyes locked on the woman.

It was working!! Remia finally realised, at some point over the way, that what she was doing was working, and that some people were actually managing to escape or try to save others. It was good, very good in fact. Of course, not everyone was as lucky and Simon’s fate was something that made the girl feel rather sad. He might not have been very cooperative or too easy to work with… but he certainly did not deserve that, in her eyes.

Nathair’s reaction to her voice caught Remia off-guard, yet the face of the one that could have been a foe changed soon enough. And it was for the best, as she would have hated having to wrestle with him until he had realised she was a fried and not an enemy. Seeing his confusion start to fade a bit upon seeing her and noticing who she was, she smiled cheekily. “It’s me!!” although he would not hear her, but reading lips was easy enough from this distance, right?

In a few seconds, Nathair had prepared his own system to protect his ears and was delivering some sort of message to her on her arm, writing some letters… oh no. She had always been awful at that. That game where someone ‘writes’ something on your back with their index finger. She always got it wrong! This time, it was no different at first, but soon she noticed familiar letters and in the end, she got what he meant. She gave Nathair an unknowing look.

She had no idea where Arlette was. She could only hope she was within the group of people she had snapped out of the song’s effects… “Let’s look for her!” she mouthed in an exaggerated way so that Nathair could understand. She also used he left hand, extended on top of her eyes, to do a “search” motion. Surely, he would understand.

Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon

Ridiculous, just ridiculous. After everything that had happened and just as one would expect their problems were over, a dragon came. Not just a dragon coming onto a small group but rather, a dragon coming onto a small group that was almost in complete disarray. A group that might as well just go back home. Such was their current state. Diane opened her eyes upon hearing those sounds, still feeling absolutely dizzy. She was still kneeling down and as she tried to stand up, she had difficulties in doing so.

Their protective cage was gone after Fran had been unable to retain consciousness, and so the were cats had been lurking closer and closer now until they were essentially surrounded by them. Not a good sign. Either way, Diane realised she was in a relatively good state, considering what her partners looked like. She had to stand up, at least to look confident and, if not menacing, at least appear in control of the situation. Appearances could be important, sometimes.

Then, Cerberus’ voice reached Meena, who in turn relayed the message to Diane. That made her wonder… what where they for, in the first place? Her mind was foggy and she could not think straight. They had a mission, of course. And she had been tasked with… with what, exactly? The only thing her brain could think of was following orders, going with the flow, protecting others and casting her spells where necessary and applicable. Was that a side effect of interrupting one of her spells sooner than it was supposed to be done? Probably… yet, she could not even tell this was the reason. She could only deduce it.

Unfortunately, she was the one who would have to talk, or do something. “Greetings!” she took a step forward, trying to look as confident, safe and leading as she could. Her oddball personality might have been a nuisance sometimes, but her everlasting optimism and that personality made her good at faking all sorts of emotions, if only in a dramatic way. Subtle nuances were not something she was good at… but if she was right, a dragon would not notice those anyway.

“We came to… see what has been happening here with our own eyes!” A flat out lie. Or maybe it wasn’t. She could not remember, after all. “We want to learn as much as possible, and we are delighted that we have been able to meet you so we can work together!” she made a clear bow that would show respect… but she made it a point not to show submission with it.
I'm always pretty much busy, so I rarely get time to post a lot! I try to read most if not all of the OOC, though. :)

And I always post... at some point, on the IC thread, too!

But whatever happens, I always get the time to drop by and post adequately (I think?). I would like to think I am reliable, to a certain extent! :D
The Clayman's Finale

Such a poor state for their current route. Salia walked with Lux through the path until it essentially vanished and they were just walking on who knew what. And soon enough, the tiles gave way and despite the fact both holders had quick reflexes, it was impossible for them to avoid the fall or to even grab anything that would keep them from going down.

Salia did not know exactly for how long they had been falling or how much space they moved through their quick descent, which was rough due to the movement and the shaking they had to endure. So much so that it appeared as though the place was suffering some sort of earthquake. After tumbling down for what seemed to be a really long time, they finally fell… somewhere. Salia landed on Lux, not realising it was him that broke her fall.

And much to Salia’s surprise, they soon found themselves meeting with their companions!! At first, Salia only recognised the voices with their rushed yells, but soon her eyes showed the truth to her. They did not deceive her; they truly were her partners. But first of all… a golem!! “Lux! Let’s take this one down like the ones before!” Somehow, it looked bigger, more dangerous than the ones they had encountered before.

“I say let’s try to take out part by part. Focusing our offensive power on its limbs first, then finish it off”. As she readied her sword, she hoped Lux was fine and ready to attack, as well. Only then, seeing that the spell was different, Salia looked back and saw her partner on the ground, looking hurt. Not saying anything, she helped him up while he was using his magic. Surely, having better visual connection with the objective would improve the results.

“Maria!” Salia simply said. With something as simple as calling her name, she expected –and hoped– to establish a quick connection with her so that she would be aware of their position. It might be the key to their survival.

And just as Remia thought things could not get stranger… a song coming from the water!! Everyone was calmer, which was a good thing, but for some reason they seemed mesmerised by something and walked towards the sea. Well, Remia did not have to be a sage to realise what was going on. It was circumstantial evidence, only, but the moment the song started sounding, people had entered the state of strange trance…

Quartz’ leading skills came in handy at that point, particularly as everyone was given a task and if everything was done according to the plan, then it should go well… However, Remia, who nodded at Quartz’s ‘orders’, was not happy about being in the back. She felt she could help everyone at the front. At least, under normal circumstances. But with something that big? All she could do was accept her job.

For some reason, the young holder did not feel taken by the mellow sound. There had to be a reason. A possibility was the fact she may be too far… but maybe it was something else. However, there was no way to know and she would not take the risk. Using her sword, Remia cut a good part of her dress and used it to tie it around her head so that her ears would be blocked.

Suddenly, everything was muffled. The sounds of the crowd, the waves of the sea, the cries of the creatures… everything. And in a way, it was as though she was seeing things a lot clearer. Less was more. The less input she had, the more she could focus on her eyes. Maybe she was relying on her eyes too heavily, but ears were dangerous now, so what could she do? Remia moved to the water and prepared for anything that may come… while trying to keep everyone away from the water. All she could do was push them, trying not to hurt them.

“Stay back or you’ll be killed, damn it!!” It was hard to keep the calm when a woman was being ripped off behind them, and these people seemed to be too focused on the song. And she did not even hear her own voice properly. But that gave Remia an idea. What if she was able to…? Smirking, it made her think of some sort of guerrilla tactics. The young rook was running around, getting close to people and simply screaming as close to their ears as possible. It might not look too elegant, but maybe it would break the connection if they stopped hearing the song!!

Remia had moved too far away from her group, trying to snap people out of that mesmerised status, and she was now rushing to Arlette and Nathair, hoping her idea would work. She did not have time to check if it had, so far. The only thing she could do was trusting her own judgement and hopefully this faith would have a reward. She would find out as soon as she came across Arlette or Nathair…
I'll get to posting today! :)
And I posted just in time, it seems. Yay! Week's been a bit busier than expected. On the plus side, it was a productive week which shall make my July easier in terms of work. Not complaining!

My travel is something I had in mind since last September, in fact, but only confirmed it two or three weeks ago, despite having known I would go for a few months now. It will be interesting...
The Clayman's Finale

“Well… it’s no pressure if we do our job properly, is it?” Salia smiled confidently at Lux, still feeling her body hurt every now and then, even if she could stand on her own two feet for now. “This is just like a controlled match on a joust, right? And I don’t know about you, but I never planed on losing this fight… so where we are locked or not, it won’t make a difference”. It was perhaps a too practical approach to it, too cold. Salia herself knew it was better that she took this approach instead of focusing on how stressful their situation was, but…

“Yes, let’s move on” she nodded to his suggestion. However, soon there was another split pathway. What should they do? Split the group again? Was that the objective of the maze? Split their group so that whichever force made it to the end was so weak that it was effectively a non-threat? “Divide and conquer, right Arthur?” one of the multiple tactical lessons she had been given by her Spirit, of course. They could not tell if that had been the objective there, but it sure was one of its by-products.

“I agree. It wouldn’t make sense for him to just be at the main exposition… he’s not a gambler that would be there thinking we won’t go there because we’re trying to predict his moves, is he? He shouldn’t be… let’s take the other route. If nothing else, at least it should be sneakier”. And she felt it was a less risky choice. But if it really was less risky, then their foes might have taken that into account as well… Just like a chess match with an invisible opponent.

Remia’s attack worked well, surprisingly well in fact!! So much so that the girl was surprised to find herself done with the beast so quickly but the moment she realised the same was true for Eowyn and Mime, she felt something was amiss. Of course, they were good fighters, but no creature is THAT easy to kill if it’s not supposed to be… “only a decoy” were Lancelot’s words to Remia.

The fish-tank was cracking because of the creature’s attempts to break it, and it was obvious that it didn’t look nice for them. “C’mon, let’s go, let’s go!!” she shouted to her nearest companions, as she pressed them onwards. Make it to the fish, and make it to the stage, those were probably the two goals they could have in mind, in terms of movement. But before they could focus too much on that… some sounds of panic distracted Remia, who looked towards the water… and saw the huge thing moving their way.

“I have no idea if we’re going to fight that but if we are, I truly hope we all perform at our best. This is going to be tough…”

Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon

The moment Meena had been fearing had come. Their assistance was required, yet it was impossible for them to provide it!! Despite the fact it was expected for Diane to boost Emily on her next movement, it was impossible for her. After all, she had just used one particular type of magic that worked as a broken dam. Powerful, of course, but the surge was impossible to be stopped and no matter what Diane wanted to do, she would not be able to stop it. Or perhaps she could, but at what price?

“It’s impossible, Diane can’t stop her previous magic surge now, she can’t help out with a spell yet!!” that was Meena’s apologetic and desperate reply, completely aware of how the situation was dire for them.

Yet Diane, who could notice Meena’s stress, realised something wasn’t right. There was one thing to do, and if her calculations were right, she could barely make it… as long as she would give Emily a very short boost. She would suffer some side-effects, for sure, but her gut feeling told her it was for the best. And when had her gut feeling been wrong? “Emily!! NOW!!” Diane’s voice sounded loud as she forced the interruption of the magic surge, and she felt her mind go dizzy as she directed her speed-boosting Vanilla Scherzo towards Emily. Diane closed her eyes, as if to prevent herself from becoming dizzier, yet as this feeling came because of the effort of her body and not because of external factors, nothing changed much. However, focusing only on her singing and leaving it all to her partners was the only thing she could do and it made her feel at ease, if only a little bit.

Diane crouched down, hoping not to be as much of a sitting duck as she felt she was.
Congrats, Kest!! :)

I will likely be in Asia around September/October as well, but we'll see exactly how it goes. I do not plan on visiting China, though...

(I'll try to post soon!)
The Clayman's Finale

Much to Salia’s surprise, the golem was extremely easy to cut. The girl smiled as she was complimented by her companion… but that smile did not last much as the pieces began falling down, causing the rook to swiftly react by moving back… just in case it was going to react. But having fallen apart, it obviously was not going to do so. In fact, the clay became a muddy puddle… with human body-parts!! Salia felt sick for a moment. Finding human remains inside the golem was not exactly what she was expecting, and even less in that state.

“Ugh, I know…” Salia’s feelings echoed Lux’s, but shaking his head soon reached the conclusion she better not think about that, for now. “Alright, let’s see if I can do that…” By using the telepathic link with the rest of the holders, she explained the situation to Arthur, who relayed the message swiftly. “Salia and Lux have destroyed one of the golems. Lux’s heat from the vapour made it malfunction and that made it particularly weak to Salia’s sword. Since the golems are made of clay, anything that will naturally affect clay will affect the golems. Human body parts found within the golems.” Hopefully that was precise enough… even with the extra information that both Salia and Arthur felt had to be relayed.

“Hey, look!” Salia motioned her head towards the sky, indicating to Lux that he should look up… to see how it was changing… Of course, even then, they should be focusing on the task ahead. And that meant moving onwards and exploring the rest of the area…

Remia had realised that the crowd was getting wilder, partially because of her actions. However, with their panicking and dispersing, her path forward was now much easier. She rushed onwards, trying to get to the fish-kart as soon as possible, hoping to intercept it. However, it was not all going to be as easy as she would have hoped for. Three horned, winged bests were circling the crowd in the air.

Looking like dogs… winged dogs. With several eyes and horns. Remia sighed. “I knew it couldn’t have been just me…!” as she got ready to engage them. The young girl smiled, as she felt she had the situation under control to a certain degree. First of all, she switched her sword to her crossbow and aimed upwards, trying to hit the flying beasts. If she could hit some of them before they arrived, that would be perfect. Of course, she knew she could not take them all down before they arrived and by the time they would get to them, she would change the crossbow to her lance… it might not have had a name, but being near the sea, it was under the perfect situation for it.

However, one of the drogans was already fighting with Mime and the other was being taken care of by Eowyn. Remia would have to focus on one of them, only, then.

Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon

In a matter of seconds, perhaps because of the magic itself, Diane seemed to forget about the damage. All that mattered was signing. Continuing to do so was absolutely necessary. Why? She wouldn’t know. Yet she kept going almost in some sort of strange trance, unable to help the rest of the team, for now. She might be okay with being a distraction but her voice would not stop.
The Clayman's Finale

Soon enough, Salia was back on her two feet. She wasn’t used to relying on others and even less in the way she had to rely on Lux, now. She could not help but find it interesting that nothing he had done was special for him in any way. “Are you sure that we ought to use our time here with these?” the question was perhaps more for herself than it was for her companion, but a good part of her shared Lux’s opinion.

“Alright, let’s see about that!” she smiled confidently, after the golem was struck down by Lux’s vapour. It was truly astonishing, how something so easy to do for this holder was the perfect way to bring down the golems. “I’m not too fond of doing such things but… I figure the golem is not actually alive in the conventional way, right? So…” and as she had been requested, Salia used her sword to make the cut… she made sure to make a clean one. If they were to study the whole thing, they’d better be careful not to destroy that thing too much.

No time to think and Remia was receiving a message to stop the cart. It was clear that her following Arlette and Mime was not working… and for whatever reason, they were not reacting normally to her. So she would have to act reasonably. Waste time in a fruitless endeavour or rush back to stop the cart? Only after the message she received, there was a reaction, and Mime turned, not even waiting for Remia’s answer to the question she asked. “Ugh!!” frustration kicking in. Chances were Mime would not leave from Arlette’s side, at least not too much. However, taking the risk of heading on her own to the cart and leaving her companion on her own was something she could not take.

After a quick moment of realisation, Remia knew what to do. Taking matters into her own hands. She should not hesitate and if anyone knew her sister, Salia, they would realise the same genes were inside her. Even if she always considered her to be some sort of rival and a benchmark to overcome… they were still similar in various ways. What Remia hadn’t realised was that her trip had made her mature as a person, somewhat. She had been childish and even spoilt. Yet now she was becoming closer to what her older sister was, while being her own person. “Understood!” she replied to Quartz’s message and even her eyes had changed, showing resolution as she focused her look on the cart. “Stay behind me, Arlette. I will make sure you are safe!”

Remia was already facing ahead with Arlette behind. “Move aside!!” the young girl exposed her sword in the middle of the crowd. They might panic, yes, but either way, having her sword in plain sight would make it easier for her to get to her new objective… intercepting the cart and stopping them from releasing the creature. One might think that taking Arlette away from it might be safest but… at the same time, being closest to her would give Remia the chance to know what her status was at all times… and she was confident.

Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon

Just as Diane guessed, her idea was working. Her spell was working well and she continued to sing, unable to stop because of the powerful magic surging through her. Her foe was quickly blinded and incapacitated in a way… The woman tried to block the man’s screams of pain, as she knew she was the one causing them… and she was already against violence as a whole.

But this was to protect her companions, to prevent more deaths… so she was doing the right thing. Right? This was Diane’s first time using such a spell and it surprised her, how strong it was and how effective it had been against both Sean and the armour. If anything, she had learnt well how this worked and what it was capable of. A man with severe wounds and a dented armour. Not bad…
