Kokotha: Old Magic, New World

"Gladly, my friend!" Daud shouted, gleefully watching the others fight. But as a man of action, he was of course looking for his fair share.

At Gregor's command however, Daud gives him a nod, before lowering his halberd, spear-tip pointed in the direction Gregor pointed him in. Finally quieting down, however, he begins his quick, but steady, march down the hallway. With each heavy stomp of his foot as he jogged through the manor, he steadily braced himself for an attack at any moment, ready to defend his comrades to his full ability.

Personality:

Urik is a very stern and aloof individual, often keeping his heart closed to everyone in his life, even his friends. Having suffered a horrific betrayal in the past, he is very mistrustful, but extremely loyal to his friends. He also has a strong sense of justice. Combined with his indifference towards Kokothan law, he is somewhat like a vigilante, if only a little bit. His pet Amalgam Moth, Herrik, is his best friend.

Background:

Urik was born in a small village in the Kokothan frontier to a clan of Beastkin natives, all born with grey or black skin, and glowing silver eyes. His clan was part of the Forgotten Tribe, a band of highwaymen, bandits and raiders who often robbed small pockets of the mostly unsettled areas of Kokotha. During Urik's coming-of-age ritual, his mentor ended up selling out the Tribe to a rival, leading to the massacre of his entire village, save for him. Since then, he has been on a quest to find his mentor and avenge his tribe, no matter the cost.

Other

Herrik is Urik's pet Amalgam Moth, which he tamed nearly 7 years ago. They've been the best of friends since, and Herrik is the only one Urik can open his heart to. Despite being an Amalgam, Herrik is incompetent in combat and merely serves as a travel companion for Urik.

Daud, still experiencing his adrenaline rush, let out another hearty guffaw. "Let them come! I'll leave none standing!"

Gripping his halberd tightly, he steps forward to greet the guards approaching, excited to let himself loose on them. He could practically feel his magic struggling to get out, the anticipation of battle giving him a battle-high.

Personality:

A seemingly innocent, mild-mannered girl, Avelline is actually devoted to the Children's goals, in support of them making the world into a mage's paradise, and cleansing it from the filth of non-casters. She is very proud of her heritage, and isn't afraid to let others know.

Background:

Raised by a family of... eccentrics, Avelline was destined to have a very strange life ahead of her. Born healthily, she suffered very little hardship throughout most of her life. Her parents were both artists, both obsessed with surrealist topics. Their art mostly consisted of nightmarish dream-realms of twisted and unnatural flesh and horrid, gory messes. Despite this, they were rather well-adjusted,
even if their paintings weren't very popular. As Avelline grew up, she attempted to take up painting multiple times, but was never able to stay interested. It was at age 15 that her Brand first manifested, and with it, a morbid interest in her own body began to fester in her own mind. Being able to fashion her own body into anything she wished fascinated her, and she began to find an artistic value in it.
Due to this, she ended up quickly becoming extremely skilled at bizarre uses of her magic. At age 18, she was recruited by the Children,
who offered her a world where her art could be appreciated and used practically. A world where magic reigned supreme.

Once the flash went off, Daud quickly turned back to Gregor, smiling wildly under his visor, let out a boisterous guffaw as he ran after him, making sure to ram into a few party-goers as he did so. He was finally able to do something about this wretched party.

"BWAHAHAHA! I am the hammer, I am the spear, I am the blade of justice! Tremble, ye lawless sycophants, for a LAWBRINGER is here!" He shouted in his booming voice, storming out of the mansion, his enormous weight causing the floor around him to quake with each step.

As he met up with Gregor, Mercury and Duff, he spoke.

"Gregor, my comrade, just give me the word and I will cut any of these wretches down. Anything to further our cause!" He panted as he ran, looking to the other two as well. "You two as well! Justice will be served tonight!"

Daud was staying calm, his eerie brand of calmness coming out as the party began to descend into chaos. Looking around, he saw that the guests's true nature coming into light - Paranoid and treacherous. Smirking behind his visor, he obeyed Gregor's command, turning around and covering his visor with his arm.

"Is it time to show these sycophants why they should fear the law?!" Daud shouted as the flashbang was thrown, sounding strangely gleeful. So gleeful that he may have accidentally revealed what he was to the rest of the crowd.

Daud's helmet was knocked crooked by the push, making him look rather silly to the rest of the crowd. He didn't flinch, however, instead continuing to stare at the guard. He didn't let out any words or sounds, like he was a statue. However, it was when Mercury spoke and intercepted the two, he finally said something.

"Very well." He said, straightening his helmet, still staring at the guard. "I'll let him go. I wouldn't to ruin our host's carpet with his blood."

Turning around, he began to walk away from the guard, hoping to catch up to Gregor and Gustrag before things got any uglier.

Daud, seeing how things are growing a bit tense, clenches his fist around the shaft of his halberd, eager to use it on these sybarites. First it was Mercury being stopped by a guard, now Gustrag himself was approaching the group. Sighing, he began to see where things may take a turn, and wanted to make sure if it did turn to violence, that he'd have all the help he could get.

Turning to Gregor, he mumbled to him. "Handle Gustrag for a moment, I'm bailing the girl out."

With that, he left Gregor to himself, and approached the guard and Merc, his halberd going 'clunk!' with each other step. As he reached them, he stepped between the two, forcefully becoming a massive steel wall separating the two. Looking down at the guard, he stepped forward, forcing him to back off. Wordlessly, he just stared down at him, peering sternly through his visor, waiting for the guard to leave the girl alone. That is until he barked a single order out.

"Leave."
