Vasseurcourt is a absolute monarchy with a elective prince. The personalities of said princes vary from each to each along with the policies they introduce to the nation. Most are left leaning and could almost be described as socialist in standing. Right wing leaning princes rarely win the elections held in the nation. The elections are direct with every single vote heading for the candidate. The government itself is hell bent on keeping the nation self sustaining. Trade and agriculture are very important to the nation and the people who thus live inside of it. The nation is highly industrialized at its capitol located on the coast of the its lake it shares its borders with. As you go away from said capitol the nation becomes more and more rural. Very few leaders have come from this region and even fewer have been popular.
Description of Economy: Grain, corn, coal, and cattle make a large amount of this nations economy. Vasseurcourt trades primarily with its neighbors and rarely over seas as being a landlocked nation it would have to work out agreements with its neighbors to ship said goods through their nation and to Vasseurcourt. Mining is a major part of this nations economy. Shipping out standard coal to its neighbors keeps it striving and the plethora of coal mines in the nation keep unemployment rates low for all that can at least swing a pick. The region is oddly low in metal deposits which leads to things such as copper, iron, and such being shipped in quite often.
Description of Culture
Culturally the people of Vasseurcourt are frontier men. They live in a past colonial region which despite being industrialized in most regions still has its rugged natural places. The native tribes of the region have been forced out of the region or integrated to the Vasseurcourtian culture. These were not moves that settled with the public well but it was the ruling of the current sovereign so the people obeyed. They are true to their nation as not for nationalistic reason but for the "This is my home. This is where I raised my kin. This is the place I'll defend to my last breath." reason. Home life for the working class if slow and relaxed in between work hours and inside the industrialized zone. A plentiful amount of food, goods, and living conditions leads to a peaceful life for most. Those that live on the frontier have a much hardier life with the wildlife and uncultivated regions. Life in these southern regions is based off of survival and progress.
Description of Military
While there is no formal standardized military of the nation there is a militia ready to go to combat no matter the reason. Most commonly they are outfitted with what they bring with themselves. Most have the common sense to bring rifles if they can. Roughly 2/3s of every regiment, a group of one hundred men, will be outfitted with a bolt action rifle. The rest either are equipped with a handgun or are given non combat roles. A large amount of the militia is composed of Southern Frontiersmen so most of them understand how to use a weapon. Artillery batteries are supplied by the government and the troops who are destined to use these are given actual training independent from the rest of the militia. Currently the navy and airforce is nonexistent. Anti-air guns are set up in major cities and artillery are stationed at the great lake border to compensate for this.
