Born to an Irish mother and French father, Deaglan was raised by London. With his two brothers and sister, he wrecked unbridled havoc upon its poor populace, bored with the typical life of the poor. Still, he somehow managed to push his way through a couple years of gradeschool, learning how to read and write.
At the age of seventeen, he was sent off to fight in the First Boer's War, deployed alongside his older brother.
In one of the skirmishes, the devastation was so dire that Digger fled, chased by his brother to save him from treason. However, before he could make it very far, an explosion tore the ground behind him, killing his brother and seriously injuring Digger through shrapnel.
He was eventually recovered and sent back home with a morphine prescription. As soon as he realized he was becoming dependant, he cut himself off from the addiction.
Through his younger brother, a priest in a small town outside London, he secured a position as a sexton and gravedigger. He worked here for near a decade, when he caught a snippet of rumour on a well-paid position in need of someone who knows their way around a shovel. Knowing he wasn't worth much else, he took the offer.
