Minder said "Need a hand, Mike? Lure him our way, we'll squash him for you."

mike glowered and was about to reply with a snappy retort before he composed himself, personal pride and refuseing help would land him in an early grave. backhanding the scout mike planted his feet into its chest and shifted to fightermode, full throttle back to wex, and mino. attempting to keep his wounded pride from his voice he opened the viewscreen to tasha's fighter.

"much appreciated, the damn bugger keeps zipping around to fast to hit, i'll owe you one" he said, dumping more flares as the warning tone cut over the COM. as the com cut off mike rolled left as another tone started, swirling randomly as he approched his allies, if only it wasnt a scout, i can handle the slower ones he thought before once again shifting to battleroid, full reverse.
Mike launched his share of the initial barrage, watching the smoke trails cross the distance until they created a wave of explosions. With the last long range missile out, mike jettisoned the three empty missile pods and switched the first of four short-range pods active.

All right, who’s first? he thought as he scanned the horizon for his first target, he didn’t wait long. A trooper zipped through the smoke and made a rush for the ship, along with numerous others.

“Nawlin, breaking off to intercept” he called as he flared brakes and rolled left, putting him in a position to flank, and possibly tail the insect. Coaxing the heavy fighter into position mike began to fire his beam cannons, the ribbon like rays flaring around the insect as it dodged and wove on its mad dash to the carrier.
“Come on cockroach! Fly into the damn light!” he growled angrily. He was rewarded with a beeping tone from his headset, and with a smile he selected 2 short range missiles, and struggled to lock the target, waiting for the solid tone. A moment later the wondrous sound teased his ears, launching the missiles he continued harassing the trooper, giving it no rest as the trails raced towards the insectile beast. Finally one of the beams hit, lancing through its left shoulder and robbing it of some speed, the missiles running it down and shredding it into a momentary star.

“Nawlin, one do- " mike said as his hud flashed red and a whine pieced the cockpit. Dumping flares, he set the engines into full reverse shifting to battleoid , fighting the sudden G-load as the VF veered up and back.

“Wex to squadron. Bandits on my one. Engaging, someone cover me.”

Mike brought the betas arm to bear and fired at the assault scout currently attempting to do him in.
“No dice tash, I’ve got my own infestation to deal with, I’ll be there when I can.” Mike hurriedly replied, frustrated at the fact he was caught off guard. Spiraling and darting in a mad concerto, the beta and the assault scout dueled for supremacy, the slower beta keeping the scout at bay with a steady stream of fire.

Mike leaned against a support post and listened to the sergeant. Apparently moss was replacing a downed walker squad. Without any real questions mike waited out the briefing and dismissal, 3hours till maneuvers.

“Aye Sergeant” mike said, heading for the chow hall, if they had more time he would have snuck into the kitchen to cook, himself. Instead he settled for grabbing an order of stroganoff, a salad, and a large bottle of orange/pineapple juice. He made the meal last a bit, before finally standing and placing his tray in the scullery window.
Content for the most part, he went to his room, gathered his gear, took a quick shower, and headed to the armory signing off for his pistol, and his loaded TAC-vest, stowing the unloaded pistol in a thigh holster. With nothing left to do, mike wandered to the walker bay, booting up his E-reader and waiting in an unobtrusive corner until it was time to go.

The remaining wait went by quickly, his watch beeping at 15 minutes till; he looked up to see Jinry and Sarah already loading into their walkers. Mike shut down the reader and walked over to Lucky and waved over to the lead tech, briefly talking about the maintenance provided before hopping up the ladder and climbing into the cockpit. Starting up the pre-operational check mike slipped on his helmet and tested systems, keying team COMs.

“Nawlin here, system check, everyone good?”

pilot
Name: Mike Nawlin
Species: anthro tiger
Sex: Male
Appearance: 23 yr old 6'2'' grey tiger with a black crew cut, swimmer build, and heterochromous eyes. other distinguishing features are a clipped left ear, which is missing about a quarter of its height and a jagged scar on his neck, almost obsessively covered by a turtleneck style undershirt, or other collar at all times.

Personality: mike is a relaxed, quiet individual, with a mild sarcastic streak. his free time is usually spent buried in a book, or cooking as the whim takes him.

Bio: raised in a military family, mike is used to the laws and regs of base life. in school he day dreamed through literature and math, not fond of the dry material, but got passing grades, if only barely. in science however he was the star of his classes, eagerly devouring anything that could answer why things work.
it wasn't long after his ASVAB of a 91 that he was brought before the recruiters and given nearly free choice of what service and MOS he wanted. he decided to join the EOD field and excelled in t, quickly devouring the field manuals and learning the traits of different enemies in IED construction. it was around this time that the military decided that a EOD walker would be a great idea and formed a competition. the best 2 techs from each platoon would get a weekend in a sim, the top 40 would get to enter walker training, the top ten graduates would get a walker. mike trained hard, learning every possible edge he could. hours felt like minuets in the cockpit, he watched as the days ticked by, and his classmates dropped out, seeking less complicated roles as mike ground on determined to win a seat in a mech.
in the end it was down to 15 people, the final test would be a single live 105 shell, decided to be within the safe range for a the first EOD test mech, it wasn't. during the test mike snipped the arming wire and was greeted buy a blast wave. he woke up 3 days later to find out a chunk of shrapnel nearly tore through his jugular vein, and another nearly bifurcated his face, opting to take a chunk of ear instead. the footage from his test was evaluated and mike's actions would have indeed disarmed the bomb, but the cut wire magnetized to the arm and became charged. mike was awarded the first walker position for from his test group, joining Blackcard Platoon, Moss squad
Specialties: EOD, Heavy weapons

walker
Model Name: ESDM MkIII- "lucky"
Model Class: Heavy
Primary Role: Demolition, frontline warfare
General Information: The third in a line of EOD focused walker frames it trades speed and agility for impressive durability, and plenty hard points for customization of tools, or firepower. Oddly angular to divert blast forces, the walker stands out among most, as the entire front torso forms a pointed wedge, the arms and legs having wedged profiles in the front. the most interesting customization of the frame is the construction of the utility arms, the fingers themselves having the ability to deploy micro tools, and being made out of non magnetic titanium. these modifications give the pilot the best chance of success and survival in the field
Appearance: mikes mech is painted coyote tan and emblazoned with high vis yellow chevrons that begin on the torso and continue to the arms. the single personal decal is a four leaf clover with a clipped top left leaf, and a stylized "LUCKY" the U being an upside down horseshoe.
trying to write this through a broken screen, so ill be out for a while, might see if I can borrow my dads laptop for school and stuff, so ill hopefully be back soon.

just checking, but is it carnivores vs herbavores, or just random groups against random groups. IE. Tigers vs Kangaroos, or anyone/thing vs anyone/thing?
