it wasn't long after his ASVAB of a 91 that he was brought before the recruiters and given nearly free choice of what service and MOS he wanted. he decided to join the EOD field and excelled in t, quickly devouring the field manuals and learning the traits of different enemies in IED construction. it was around this time that the military decided that a EOD walker would be a great idea and formed a competition. the best 2 techs from each platoon would get a weekend in a sim, the top 40 would get to enter walker training, the top ten graduates would get a walker. mike trained hard, learning every possible edge he could. hours felt like minuets in the cockpit, he watched as the days ticked by, and his classmates dropped out, seeking less complicated roles as mike ground on determined to win a seat in a mech.
in the end it was down to 15 people, the final test would be a single live 105 shell, decided to be within the safe range for a the first EOD test mech, it wasn't. during the test mike snipped the arming wire and was greeted buy a blast wave. he woke up 3 days later to find out a chunk of shrapnel nearly tore through his jugular vein, and another nearly bifurcated his face, opting to take a chunk of ear instead. the footage from his test was evaluated and mike's actions would have indeed disarmed the bomb, but the cut wire magnetized to the arm and became charged. mike was awarded the first walker position for from his test group, joining Blackcard Platoon, Moss squad
Specialties: EOD, Heavy weapons
walker
Model Name: ESDM MkIII- "lucky"
Model Class: Heavy
Primary Role: Demolition, frontline warfare
General Information: The third in a line of EOD focused walker frames it trades speed and agility for impressive durability, and plenty hard points for customization of tools, or firepower. Oddly angular to divert blast forces, the walker stands out among most, as the entire front torso forms a pointed wedge, the arms and legs having wedged profiles in the front. the most interesting customization of the frame is the construction of the utility arms, the fingers themselves having the ability to deploy micro tools, and being made out of non magnetic titanium. these modifications give the pilot the best chance of success and survival in the field
Appearance: mikes mech is painted coyote tan and emblazoned with high vis yellow chevrons that begin on the torso and continue to the arms. the single personal decal is a four leaf clover with a clipped top left leaf, and a stylized "LUCKY" the U being an upside down horseshoe.
