"You act as if I actually talk to anyone else." He chuckled at his own joke. "Your secret's safe with me. Just curious, how did you find out about this map and gun? Have you been planning this since you started visiting him?"
@Nikki Moonlight

Valerian shook his head. "I-it's impossible... you can't have..." was what he wanted to say, but what he really said was, "Really?" Hope filled him, repressing his usual skepticism. Maybe they would escape. Maybe they could be free.

"When do we leave?"
@Nikki Moonlight

"It might be nice to have those kind of thoughts," he began, "But it isn't possible. We both know that. We don't know our way around well enough to leave, heck, where even is the exit to this place? And when those thoughts can't become real, they linger there, and poison your mind with false hopes. It just can't happen. We've got to accept our situation."

Those weren't the words he wanted to say. He wanted to give hope to the others, Aya especially, but just found that he couldn't. Hope couldn't exist sustainably in a place like this.
@Nikki Moonlight

Valerian would arrive at the orphanage, seeing Aya with the watermelon. Whilst it would make the others happy, the means it were brought it were... just plain wrong. "H-how many pints of blood did you shed for that, Aya?" he said in a hushed tone that only she could hear. "You're just conforming to their ideas of livestock..."

Valerian didn't exactly mind the vampires, for most of the part. He agreed with them that humanity did have its problems with greed and the like, but their penchant for blood stirred emotions deep within him. He didn't know why - as far as he knew he'd never had any bad experiences with vampires, bar the entire situation, but that had allowed them to survive.

"We already have to give blood - there must be other ways to survive, Aya..."

Name: Dustin Bloom

Age: 18

Power: Lightning Shard - Dustin can control electricity to an extent. He can manifest it in his hands in the form of visible ball lightning, and can release it. However, his control over it is not the greatest. Also, he has a limit to the amount of electricity he can store within him - if he expends all of it, he'll need to recharge using a power source or wait a while for his body's natural electricity and static to generate charge - this could take up to 3 days depending on how much he moves. This also renders him immune to electricity in that he cannot be damaged by it; if there were too much electricty, he'd overload and release the excess uncontrollably. Also, his electricity could be drained if someone could design a circuit that works both ways - this would result in loss of powers until he can charge again.

Bio: Dustin didn't believe in the rumours. He was also skeptic towards his friends' naive beliefs about God and the Devil, until he found the Lightning Shard. At first, he thought it would be dangerous to touch - it was jagged as a lightning bolt and seemed to overflow with energy. But the allure of it was so great he couldn't help himself. He reached forward and grasped it with him hand. And then it was gone. Maybe it had been a hallucination. The events of the next day would prove otherwise.
It is said that one shouldn't use a knife to get toast out of a toaster. Dustin did this anyway. The resultant charge flowing into his body at an uncontrolled rate caused an overload within minutes - he couldn't control the amount of energy flowing into him yet. The result was the release of a high energy electromagnetic field - it devastated everyone who came into contact with it. Everyone except Dustin. He had inadvertently killed his family. Dustin weeped for his family, and thankfully the investigators could not work out how they had died. Yet this would not bode well for Dustin's mental state - bearing the burden of accidentally killing him family.
Not wanting to endanger anyone else, he wanders the streets now, only using his powers to protect himself and staying away from electrical power sources - most of the time.
Gah! Mistake!

@Nikki Moonlight

"Nothing good will come of what she plans, nor what she does now," thought Valerian. "But she can't change that, given the situation. This is the best way she can help them."

Valerian couldn't help but think something was going to go terribly wrong. He wanted to brush that thought aside but couldn't, actually feeling worry for Aya. She had tried to be there for him - this was the little he could do to help her. Yet he had walked so far away it might be impossible to locate her again.

Valerian headed back to the place the orphans were staying. He didn't know why but something made him want talk her out of whatever she was planning. Something primal inside of him - an instinct.
@Nikki Moonlight

Valerian would momentarily turn around, glancing at those he had distanced himself from. Amongst those were Aya. Whilst she had tried to be kind to him, it hadn't helped. Kindness just made him feel less of the group. It was something you did to someone you wanted to integrate but didn't know how to. He continued walking, wanting to be away from humanity for a while. Nature was a good enough companion for him - it didn't treat him differently, regardless of the circumstances - nature was an absolute.
Hi, I'll be applying with (if its not too late), @KatherinWinter:
