Did we mess something up?

Valerian grimaced as he watched vampires becomes nothing after being shot by a single bolt. Whilst he knew they would have done the same to him if they could of, the thought of doing that to another living being did not settle well with him. Maybe they'd reform, he'd though, but then he'd always respond with the fact that the entire concept of a vampire was that of a leech-like parasitic being that sustained themselves off of humans. But seeing Aya had changed this. She had been forced into being a vampire; it wasn't her choice. She had been made into a parasite - taking her as an example, they couldn't help it. Yet there still stood a certain animosity towards vampires - an innate dislike, as if they had wronged him in a way. In truth, the only way he could think that they had wronged him directly was through Aya. Even so, that wasn't him, and she still lived, even if a vampire.

He shook off the thoughts are continued covering the team as they made their way to the sewers.

You're always so quiet in your thoughts, Val.

How wrong she was.

I don't have much to think about. Just killing vampires.

It had taken a matter of seconds to shield his thoughts from Lyn upon meeting - he had immediately suspected she could not be trusted. The skills in mindfulness he had learnt to cope with Aya's death had taught him how to focus and how to move on. Invaluable in protecting his true thoughts from the Hīragi he had been assigned to.

"We should hurry this up, guys. We don't have all day." With that, he cloaked himself using Lyn's ability, and headed down to regroup near the entrance to the sewer. He would fight melee if he had to.
@DriveEMOut@Lady Athena@cloudystar@Always@CriticalHit

Lyn, you should be thankful they didn't listen to you. You almost blew your cover.

It's really our cover now, wouldn't you say?

I'm no pawn pf Hīragi's, Lyn, nor shall I ever be.

You'll come round to us later, Valerie~.

Don't you call me th- At this point, Eleanor had asked him to cover her.

"I don't know what your planning, Ele, but I trust you. I'd cover you regardless."
@Lady Athena

I hate autocorrect.
Damn I wish it would update live when someone else posts.
@DriveEMOut@cloudystar@Always@CriticalHit@Lady Athena

"Yeah, I guess you could call her a demon. More like vampire killing and reconnaissance tool. She lies just as much as your average demon weapon, though."

I'm much more than that, Val. But you can keep your secrets for now.

"I can leave using cloaking, so if you guys want to head in that general direction whilst I cover you, we can probably get out. Jean, Mita, and..."

His name's Cheren. Unless he had a name change within the last twenty four hours.

"Cheren should leave first. Myself, Eleanor and Rai will cover you guys and follow you. Cheren probably is in need of some first aid, if anyone could give that to him once you're in the clear. Everyone clear?"

Valerian did not expect the team to follow his orders; he had hardly been with the team as they functioned with Guren, as he'd been alone with Lyn doing recon work. He, rather, hoped that they would see why they were retreating. He also had wanted to have a chat with both Eleanor and Rai; he had been kind of asocial to the both of them, and needed to talk about something, or rather someone: Aya. He knew Eleanor had met her to some extent based on what Jean had said and Eleanor's interactions with him, but he doubted Rai knew anything.
@Lady Athena

I know, but it doesn't matter, it was mainly to get Jean to actually leave. Or at least to try.
@cloudystar@Always@CriticalHit@DriveEMOut@Lady Athena

He processed what the new person said. He was right, sure, but how would it be possible to stop everyone - by everyone, he meant Jean - fighting to do the wise thing and leave?

"There's a single problem with leaving. We won't leave a man behind. And the buffoon over there won't stop fighting; he's a bit of an idiot."

You could always knock him out, Val.

That could be a little bit dangerous.

I've got a much better idea, though. Lyn spoke aloud this time rather than just thinking it. "Oh my, guys! I've detected Aya over beyond the hills! Let's falls back and escape here so we can find her!"

"Lyn, y-"

Thank me later.
@DriveEMOut@cloudystar@Always@Lady Athena@CriticalHit

"Backup? Interesting, so there's more coming?"

Valerian had taken vantage in a fairly tall but solid tree, and was firing bolts from his demon weapon at some of the vampires at the edge. None of the bolts missed; no matter how far they ran, or how much they tried to outmanoeuver them, the bolts would always find their targets.

This could be difficult if we intend to escape.

Lyn chuckled. You're going to have to knock out more than just vampires, I guess.
@Always@DriveEMOut@Lady Athena@CriticalHit

"It's probably safer if you guys pick a partner and cover each other on the melee side." He looked down at his own demon weapon. "Doesn't work as well for me. The likelihood is that they have already smelt humans; I doubt they know how many of us are here. An ambush would be stupid, they'd know and counter it accordingly. It's probably better to meet them head on."

He stared in the distance, and after a couple of seconds the familiar stench of old blood began to fill his nostrils. They were almost here. Ready to kill them all. This would be their first real fight as a team.

It's time, Lyn.

Whatever you want, Val.

Valerian would then disappear out of side, completely stealthed in plain sight, as the first vampires could be seen heading towards the group.
