Desktop profile login won't work. Coincidence that Windows 7 is no longer supported on same day? Consider me doubtful.

I'm having way too much fun with my Legend of Zelda Encylopedia. This is the game that got me into roleplaying so have a lot invested in it's lore and stories. Too bad can't have all the games too.

Alright, first true monster post is up and is now open for everyone else!
Earth - Coral City

The laser transporter broke through the invisible barrier and the Sign Master materialized on Earth, on a road just outside of a coastal city. The city was of moderate size, no metropolis to be sure but large enough to perhaps have a sizable tourism industry with its beautiful location. The area had lush vegetation further inland and nice, white beaches for the masses to enjoy.

The Sign Master looked down at a little wrist scanner that had been implanted during its germination stages. A little blip appeared further into the city but it was hard for it to get an exact lock on the barrier creation site. Sign Master shook its arm a bit but of course that didn't really help at all.

"Hard to start the demolition process without knowledge of the work area. Hopefully this gadget will tell me better when I get closer."

Suddenly a large blaring sound could be heard behind him and Sign Master turned to see a large semi-truck baring down on him at high speeds. Without a second thought his sign transformed into a 'Right Lane Closed' sign and he slammed it on the side of the road. As soon as the truck got closer it suddenly veered over into the other lane, straight into oncoming traffic. Sign Master laughed as the semi truck tried to correct course but for some reason was unable to get back into the other lane, even after passing the road sign and the monster. Vehicles quickly veered out of the way as the truck slammed the brakes as hard as possible.

Sign master started walking toward the city and when he got to the now halted semi, he stopped for a moment to glare at the pale driver.

"I don't want anything interfering with my company's construction plans so I think I'll go ahead and use you to make a little road barrier here."

Another sign materialized in Sign Master's hands, this one being a truck tipping over warning sign. Slamming the sign in the ground it then tilted it over so the truck in the sign was on the ground, and the truck itself quickly followed suit, and rolled over on its side blocking both lanes of traffic. With a big belly laugh, the Sign Master created another road sign, this one being a 75 mph sign. This one he held in his hands and started running down the road, instantly reaching 75 miles per hour.

"Shouldn't take more than an hour to find that demolition site at this rate. The master will be pleased the more quickly I can prepare the construction site!"

As the monster rushed down the road the previous signs disappeared, their uses having been expired they returned to mere energy.
@Searat Not yet, I better get the monster actually doing something, plus set up the surrounding area before ya post I think.
OP I have a question - what is the posting order like? I assume the monsters will be controlled by you, so shall we each make one move per person then wait for you to have the monster react?

In general yes, that said I will not always wait for everyone to post in order to keep the combat going. There will also be opportunities where I open up the posting to 'dramatic mode' where you can essentially make your own fight scene with the monster. Usually after you have seen what the monster acts like and the kind of moves and abilities they use.

I'll add this to the rules.
Monster Lab

"So what deadly creations do you have for our first test run?"

That was the first question to come out of the commanding mouth of the alien with the moth like antenna hair. Her eyes quickly scanned over the various tubes of liquid and gadgets that filled the lab to the brim. Every color of liquid, tubes, vials, and computers were all over the place to be used, including what appeared to be a random junk pile.

Monsternancy was a fairly...inexact science. It tried a lot on trial and error and had some, mystical elements to it which added to the random factor. Data, chemicals, lab grown flesh, a lot of power, and even a foundational piece were all part of the 'recipe' process of Monsternancy. Various combinations were mixed together for a wide range of results.

The lead scientist, a somewhat, grasshopperish looking individual in what appeared to be a white, hazmat suit with no helmet, quickly walked over to one of the tubes with a fully grown specimen inside, tapping on the outside. The creature inside stirred in response to the knock.

"I believe this specimen should do quite nicely in response."

The scientist rubbed its hands together as if they were furiously washing their hands.

"What is its foundation based on?"

"A very good question indeed commander. The monster is based on something the humans call a 'traffic sign'."

"A what?"

"A traffic sign commander. You see the humans employ rather crude methods of transport and so follow various signs' rules in order to prevent accidents. They also use such signs for various other things such as marking territory and warnings to other earthlings. The signs essentially dictate what a human can or cannot do in their society. So using this data and one of their own 'yield' signs, we have managed to crank up the signs' mental and physical effects to a level far beyond mere suggestion. I can assure you that the effects are both versatile and powerful!"

The alien female commander squinted their eyes as if they had a headache as the scientist explained their creation.

"Well in any case the monster is strong, correct?"

"Most certainly commander, I am sure our first test run will be a startling success!"

"Well it had better be Head Monsternancer; I would like to get this over with on the first try for the Patriarch. Ready the monster at once!"

"Certainly!"

As the commander left the scientist gleefully rubbed their hands even faster, rather imitating the habits of a fly pondering their next flight path. With the push of a button the liquid was draining from the holding tube and the monster could be more easily seen.

It was a rather interesting monster, rather humanoid but with what appeared to be muscles made from metal rope, as if it had been made in a construction site. It was rather bulky, like a small gorilla and appeared to be wearing a welding helmet with very tinted lens. In one hand was a blank sign like one you might find on the side of the road.

"I suppose you need a name...let's see I'll got for a rather on the nose one I think for simplicity's sake. You shall be titled...Sign Master!"

As soon as the name was given, the 'glass' cracked and splintered into a thousand pieces as the monster burst forth from the tube.

"Greetings creatures of all varieties! Sign Master reporting for preparing our new construction site on some slimeball called Earth! You better follow by directions or you'll be on a one way trip to the medical bay!"

One of the more unique side effects of monsternancy was the monsters tended to gain strange personalities as soon as they were activated, and Sign Master was no exception.

"We'll get you to the construction site soon, but first you'll need to clear the way for us so we can really get under way!"

"Oh there is an obstruction to construction is there! Sign Master will be sure to take that obstacle to the black hole compactor! We'll be underway before the children can get across the crosswalk!"

The Head Monsternancer wasn't so sure about that last example but monsters would be monsters. Soon enough, Sign Master was being shoved into the laser beam transporter and was being directed at Earth with enough power to smash through the barrier. It would be mere moments before the monster would appear as close to the source of the barrier as they could pinpoint from so far away.
This is great. May I ask on which days weekly we can expect new monsters?

I doubt it will actually be weekly, this is a role play forum after all and the monsters won't go down easily. As for in-game, probably a Tuesday.

Cool, I think I'll wait to see what kind of monster we will fight before I make a character. I might change my character with each monster rather than using the same one every time if that's okay.

That's how this is set up, just remember to say once you post a character how many monsters they will be staying for.

Alien Spacecraft

A strange feminine figure stood in front of the viewing screen, decked out it what appeared to be a light blue flight suit with silver plates on its chest, shoulders, and shins. Its eyes were slanted at a 45 degree angle and its irises were the color of blood. Her features were sharp and the body was thin and long by human standards, her height reaching a good 6'5". Her hair was feathery like a moth's antennae and the long 'stalks' reached down to her waist, which moved despite there being no air flow on the command deck.

"So this is the so called unconquerable planet. Such a delightful blue gem, if I am able to capture it for the patriarch I am sure I will generously rewarded and he will look at me with those strong eyes of his..."

The alien shivered in delight for a moment, before giving a small cough to gain hold of herself.

"Thankfully we have been preparing our forces for a long time despite the barrier it will only be a matter of time before we can crush any resistance!"

She put a hand out and made the motion of grabbing the visual of the planet in front of her, her fist clenched with great strength. There were two main reasons the planet was such a hard location to conquer: One, there were a lot of strange individuals with unique powers on that planet, ranging from the mundane to the fantastical who could put up a proper fight. Two, there was an annoying dimensional barrier around the planet that was specifically designed to keep out alien forces, while not affecting the inhabitants in the least. Because of the barrier they would have to expend a great deal of power every time they sent something down, which limited the amount that could be sent.

As the barrier prevented any large invasion forces, that meant they would have to send down quality instead of quantity. To help facilitate her plans to capture the Earth and shut down the field protecting it, the alien had gone into the business of Monsternacy, a scientific and magical fusion technique to create powerful, and often very unique, fighting machines. Aside from that she had also placed a bounty on the barrier maker to try and entice some of the galaxy's most fearsome mercenaries. She could get the best of all worlds with her schemes.

Soon it would be time to start the conquest of the Earth. Buzzing a little tune she skipped along off the command deck to head down to the Monsternacy department to see what dastardly monster she would send down first.

Rules

1. Joining is very easy, no set character sheet required.

2. When joining, give a rough estimate of how long you plan to stick around with your character. Could be for just one monster or several.

3. While joining is easy, I do expect at least casual level of role playing, meaning written paragraphs, grammar, spelling, etc.

4. While in the roleplay, I expect at the very least once a week posts, hopefully more.

5. A character will be considered inactive and may be killed off 10 days after the last post.

6. Each time a character joins, put that character in the character tab. All I actually need is the character's name and how long you plan to use that character. Anything else is up to you.

7. Try not to make your character too powerful, I don't want a bunch of Supermen and Goku's flying around beating everything in sight. That said, be free to make some very interesting creations.

8. Posting order is as follows. Monster > Players > Monster. That said I will sometimes go forward with a monster turn before everyone else has posted to keep things running.

9. After the battle has gone on for a bit, I'll open up a 'dramatic battle mode' in this mode you are able to control the monster as well so you can create more dramatic battle scenes, but of course you can't destroy the monster until I give the go ahead.

Setting

This will be kind of like those old monster of the week shows where kids were dazzled with stock footage and crazy costumes. The monsters will arrive usually one at a time, hop in and try to take em down. Come in when you want to and leave after any monster-of-the-week has been taken down.

Earth is pretty typical modern day setting, except with super humans and the like doing their merry business. Magical barrier McGuffin-kun must be protected or the barrier will fall and the monsters will have their hay day on Earth. Don't stay away too long or the Earth is doomed!
