A resigned sigh left Ezekiel as he closed the book. He’s been reading the same page for the past thirteen minutes without really reading anything, he knows when somethings a lost cause. Glancing at his phone for the umpteenth time, Zeke looked out over his surrounding areas – teeth taking turns between worrying against the inside of his cheek as well as his bottom lip.
He’s probably not completely in the wrong place, after all he already saw a few students getting picked up so he should be fine. Besides, if the new students each had to meet their cottage heads in different places, they would have let him know. The likely-hood of them sending a notice and something happening to it, resulting in him not seeing it, is minimal. His dorm-leader is probably just running a few minutes late, only being human themselves. After-all, what are the odds of him messing up so royally on the first day that – in spite of arriving an hour early – he spends the day waiting in the wrong place and annoying his cottage head enough to be sent home?
A metallic taste fills his mouth immediately shocking him out of his fretting. A cursory poke with his tongue confirmed that there was a microscopic cut on the inside of his cheek where he bit down too hard.
"Bleddie hel." Clenching his teeth to make them stay still, he took a deep breath and continued to think on the matter at hand. He’ll give it another hour, if he’s still parked under the Athena statue at that time – then, he’ll worry.
Just then – as if summoned by his thoughts – he spotted a woman approaching on a golf cart. She was blond with rhinestone-encrusted sunglasses and gave off the feeling of someone claiming their rightful place in the spotlight. Was this Venetia?
"Hey, Kid! She called out from where she was sitting on the cart.
"My name is Venetia,” So his guess was right and, more importantly, he wasn’t completely off base with his waiting place! Thank goodness.
“get on, I got better places to be."After the stress of the past thirteen minutes, with a polite nod to the head of Coleus Cottage Ezekiel scrambled to obey, gathering up his luggage in record speed.
"Yes, Ma’am, it’s a pleasure to meet you, Ma’am."As he was loading his stuff into the cart as instructed, a girl carrying a heavy-looking bag approached Venetia, speaking softly. Walking up and softly speaking to the loudly dressed woman “
Ahh Miss are you Venetia? I’m Lillie, I think you're the dorm leader I’m looking for?”
So, she was going to be one of his cottage mates, a fellow newcomer at that. Giving her a nod and a smile, he gathered all the residual courage his earlier encounter with Mordechai left him with as he waited for Venetia to respond, before holding out his hands towards Lillie.
"Let me help you with that." Gesturing to her bag.
"I’m Zeke, by the way."Afterwards, he quickly climbed into the golf-cart, following Venetia’s lead – not wanting to test her patience just yet.
