I'd be well up for that. In my head, there was always going to be one, also probably the unofficial head of the NeonCorp critics, if that fits in with what you had in mind.

Funnily enough, it does!

Professor Baobab's the name, a very outspoken critic who came to the region from Hoenn when its last Professor was killed by a Pokemon that broke free in the lab (a rather suspicious event, if you ask her). As a member of the International Pokemon Professor Corps, her original job was simply to act as an expert, giving scientific and cultural advice relating to Pokemon to the government and the people. When they didn't need her for anything specific, which was often, she was free to continue her own experiments. Very quickly, though, she realized just how much influence NeonCorp had, and became one of the most outspoken and influential critics on the Islands (as an official Professor, a position that requires a certain amount of excellence and proven integrity and the like, a lot of the average population were inclined to listen to her).

Of course, it didn't take long for Neon to retaliate, and she was swiftly discredited, removed from her position, and told to take her ass back to Hoenn; it was very clear that she wasn't welcome anymore. All this did, however, was make her angrier, and she defiantly remained in the Islands to continue campaigning (this time much more quietly) against NeonCorp and its allies. Her specialty would be in testing and training Pokemon intelligence, especially in the more ambiguous and human-like species, but beyond a few Pokemon she considers personal friends (those that she's studied and worked with for years), she's had to give up most of her research due to a lack of government funds. The majority of the Pokemon she was training have been shipped back to Hoenn, where her colleagues and students will be continuing the experiments as best they can.

Baobab tolerates battles as something she can't do much to get rid of, and there are many trainers among the Corporation's critics, but she attempts to only associate with those who treat their Pokemon with respect and affection. Fair warning, even if you're supposedly her ally in opposing NeonCorp, if you're cruel to your Pokemon in her presence you're liable to get smacked.

She's had contact with Lin and Samuel, and a little with Lissa, but she doesn't exactly trust the other Gym leaders, especially Tomtom (of course), Bryson and Maria, the latter of whom make oodles of money for Neon. Ray and Marius seem more ambivalent, so Baobab doesn't know how to classify them, nor whether they should be trusted...

What do you think?
Eh, I guess we can police it case-by-case, as long as we post our teams in advance and agree not to insta-kill everything we meet.

EDIT: What are your thoughts on someone playing a Professor-style character, instead of a traditional, sporty trainer? Someone who knows a lot about Pokemon, and probably has a partner for companionship or study, but doesn't compete against the Gyms or anything?
Hmm. Making Pokemon battles realistic in a satisfying manner is... very problematic, now that I think about it.

Mostly, what it seems to me that would do is make various types of Pokemon completely unbalanced. Psychics have already been mentioned and the nerf discussed, but what about Electric, or Fighting, or (god forbid) something like Onix or Steelix? How superpowerful do we make them? If they're all completely nerfed, it, ironically, makes the setting less realistic...

So, are we more married to realism, or to "fairness" in Pokemon battles? (Basically, lore vs. game mechanics)
:) This looks like it could be interesting! I especially like the idea of televised Gym battles and trainer superstars and all that. It sounds almost like UFC fighting (or pro wrestling), you know?

Anyway, I'll add to Otomos' question about ghosts: what are the types of pokemon you believe would be realistic partners for most trainers? Are there any examples besides pseudolengendaries of species that would never work with trainers?
Sumable, I've been watching the threads since the Interest Check... :( And it was doomed to failure from the start. There was no story, no conflict. Nothing to bring the characters together and get them to do things. That's kind of a basic necessity for group RPs, in my opinion.

No one tried? What was there to do if they did? The only way to fix it would be if one of the players took over as GM and came up with a conflict themselves. As it stands, it seems no one cared enough to do so.
It is indeed. And wow, that's quite a privilege!

It really is a bummer that it's all fallen apart... :) At least we can keep it alive in our hearts and our RPs.
:) Well, if you have any friends who you think might be interested, there's no reason not to tell them about it.
Hmm. Do you think we need more players? I was hoping to keep it relatively small.
:) The UESP is definitely best for game info and some lore (books and the like), but in my experience it can be very helpful to look at the pages in both wikis. Sometimes the focus of the articles are very different, and either one might contain interesting info that the other doesn't...

Basically, for in-game stuff, quests, items, dialogue transcripts, I stick with the UESP, but for general lore research (like, say, for an RP), I read them both equally. The Elder Scrolls wiki has many good articles from an in-universe perspective, for example, while the UESP has fewer.

Anyway, I could definitely be interested in this. I've always loved Bosmer lore, especially the stuff about Yffre and the Wild Hunt.

I have a concept for a support mage I've been meaning to try out (focusing on Enchanting first, then Conj and Alt equally, and a smidge of Restoration), so I'll keep an eye on this.
:) Alright, yeah, I can dig it. Can there be greater variance in female scale colors, though? I'd rather not be limited to just green...

EDIT: Anyway, looking forward to the OOC.
