:) Okay, glad to have that worked out. It'll probably take me a little while to work on my sheets, but sometime in the next few days they should be up.

What I meant, Unknown, was that the Archangels, being the very best warriors, would be comprised of angels that were all stronger-than-average, in both arm and wing. Obviously, the Archangels of the Crystal City would probably all be of the white-winged, "divine" variety, while others from other islands could be of different ethnicities.

Anyway, considering my angel's background, there could be some very interesting interaction between her and Gabe... Hmm. We'll see.
:) I'm reserving this space for my Character Sheets.
Alright, so, correct me if I'm wrong on any of these:

-Wings, powerful enough to carry at least themselves (wing-strength probably varies among individuals; Archangels assumed to have very strong wings relative to the rest)

-Can fly relatively fast overland when unencumbered, encumbrance is based on wing-strength (regular periods of rest needed, of course; they couldn't fly across Tailteann in a day, or any such preposterous thing)

-Have their own magical traditions, rather like the Elves or Fae, and could have access to Cryptic magic that has been lost on the surface ever since they ascended to their islands (I would give them preference towards the "light" element and healing magic, but that's just me)

-Are somewhat physically stronger than humans, perhaps more on par with the physical races, like the Bangaa or Ronso (Archangels, by their nature, are stronger still, as they are the "cream of the crop")

-Are the longest-lived of the physical races, trumped only by Spirits; in addition, they have a strong immunity against most poisons, diseases and afflictions that originate on the surface (excepting artificial ailments meant specifically to harm them, and ailments unique to them, such as the Gray Wings Curse)

EDIT: The only problem I have with Gabe's backstory isn't the character itself, really, but the portrayal of angel culture and government as exclusively arrogant and such. In my head, I'm thinking that is more the mind-set specifically of the angels who dwell in the Crystal City, not ALL of them (perhaps they are a specific enthicity, the "white wings", who are known for seeing themselves as divine and all that; other types of angels, perhaps with different-colored wings, could be more moderate)
EDIT: I'm just going to wait until HIdarii and Unknown have worked out a compromise that works for both of them, and go from there when crafting my angel.

What I said a minute ago was that, whatever else is changed, I support the angels having a preternatural immunty to disease and poison, ala Gabe's "Immunity" power. I'd remove the spell resistance, but otherwise, I think their not being affected by "earthly" afflictions, combined with their extreme longevity, is quite enougn for angels to be considered "divine". No need for iron skin and super-strength and all that.

The example I used was angelic healers descending during huge plagues, healing the sick without catching the plague themselves (and thus adding to the angel myth).
Hmm. I was planning on playing an angel as well, but Gabriella's power level (super-strength, armored skin, massive gust-creating wings, "immunity") is quite a bit higher than what I had in mind. I mean, isn't the divine reputation of angels supposed to be undeserved? What I got from the race description was that they were simply long-lived, winged humans, with perhaps a firm grasp of magic ("sky-elves", really).

Perhaps there can be some kind of in-universe justification, like enhancement magic given only to Archangels? Alternatively, I can give an explanation for my angel's own lack of such things. Maybe something to do with living on the surface for so long.
I don't know if Primez is still with us... Should one of us send a PM?

Thanks, love the most of the final fantasy races, was thinking of adding the rest in for the hell of it later. I'm still fleshing out my magical description section. but i'll explain it pretty briefly here.

The reason the melee/physical races still have aa great importance is that the more powerful a spell, the more it takes out of a mage. One that could wipe a whole battlefield would either take the mages life, or sever his ties with magic for the rest of his life. Unless s/he consorted with other mages and spread the load evenly. You have to remember incantations aswell, Which I seem to have forgot to put in my "spells/techniques" section. But the more powerful a spell, the longer it incantation need me, and to shorten the incantation the mage can give sacrifice more or their mind/body/soul in its stead. Rudimentary spells the incantation could be as short and simple as a sentence. But those such spells would need to be used several times over to down a veteran warrior, who may even use magic of his/her own to empower their body/weapon to be able to cleave down a mage in a single blow.

As for racial equality, I would follow the standard, while mages will be "better" at magic, they will be more specialized, same with faeries. Though faeries would less likely be combat magic, and more fun/trickster magic. While a human could potentially be "masters" at three elements in the same time an elf reaches "grand mastery" in one, we'll go with humans will pick up things more quickly while the more specialized races will dote out more daunting abilities quicker.

And obviously we wont have spirits that can collapse mountains with just a look running around for player characters, though maybe we'll fight one.

Also never played mage:the ascension, so I wouldn't know

Ah, thank you, it's not what I was thinking at all. Much more conducive to a fantasy setting than the M:tA-style thing (I really don't know why I thought of it)...

Yes, I'll definitely keep my eye on this. If you lose some people, or simply need another good character, I'll likely even join. I hate seeing a bunch of world-building go to waste.

As a side note, Mage is very complex and in-depth in its philosophies and paradigms and such, and I wouldn't give it justice if I tried to explain it, but goddamn is it interesting. The best of the World of Darkness games by far. If you're in for a massive wiki-walk, you can get the general concepts and such here, and if you like fascinating interpretations of magic, :) I would highly recommend looking at it.
Phew, that's a good bit of lore ( and kudos for including a few Ivalice races among the more traditional fantasy fare, I always love seeing them around). Is the magic system perhaps somewhat similar to Mage: the Ascension?

I seem to remember that it's all about true will-working in that game, but I'm fuzzy on the details... Anyway, maybe you aren't finished fleshing out the magic system, but some small explanation of its limits for the average character might be useful in the interim. Will PC Spirits really be as powerful as all that? Is a human mage doomed to mediocrity compared to an Elf or Faerie? If magic is so powerful and ubiquitous, why do the physical races still have importance in battle? Wouldn't a single powerful mage be able to defeat/kill scores of experienced Ronso or Bangaa warriors at once?
^ :P And this right here is why Pony RPs are the best RPs. Or, at least, why I love them so much.

Honestly, Impy, it sounds like we got enough lore and stuff to go for a good long while in the IC. Maybe that's just me though xP

:) Oh, we totally do, I just wanted to get some more input from you lovely people, to make sure of it. And, even if we don't go to every single place we've mentioned so far (we most likely won't), when I run this game in the future I may completely change things around, and having a big lore-base to work with is always useful for that.
