Red Winston
Red laughed at Jake's comment about him staying up all night. The only reason he had to do this was to sort out any info he had aqcuired during the day and, depending on the size of information he had to process, it would sometimes take hours during the night. However, Red was reclutant to explain that to Jake, from fear that he might think he is a weirdo. Taking into account all the parameters, he decided that it should be best for Jake to know why he had to do these weird things and hope that he could understand that it was a nescessity, rather than eccentricity.
"No, nothing of the sort (reffering to him watching Jake sleep) and I don't have a single problem with you inviting people, as long as I get some time quietly...Of course, if this is impossible, I can always take a walk around until your guests have left, it wouldn't annoy me. As for my own bad habits, I think I should explain, so you know what you are dealing with."
He paused for a second to pick the right words to say, then continued.
"As far as I understand, my power is my memory capability. I have the power to remember and understand any information I come across, possibly forever. For example, if you ask me about this conversation in ten, twenty or even more years, I could tell you all of it, word for word. That's why, I have these strange habits, which are actually nescessary for my power to operate normally. I have to sort out memories in places I call memory rooms, depending on their importance, date I acquired them, their size and some other factors. That's why I have to stay up until late sometimes. In order to find the info I am looking for, I must completely focus on my memory rooms, thus you may find me standing motionless for quite some time. I hope it doesn't freak you out, but it is something I have to do as to not overload my brain. Kinda neat. Other than that, you can say that my only other bad habit is smoking and if you are not a smoker, I can guarantee that I will not ever smoke in the room. Other than that, I also swear that whatever I see or hear in the room will stay in the room. You could even kill a person in there and I wouldn't say a word. Promise."
After finishing his rather big monologue and waiting for Jake's reply, which he hoped it would be cool, Red turned to Gabe to watch the conversation that was about to take place.
"There is no way this is gonna end peacefully, is it?" he joked to Jake.
Christopher Fox
Chris was worried about Henry just storming off to the commotion. Not because he was afraid that Henry would get hurt, he was more worried for the other party. He knew well that Henry could do more than pack a punch, which made him wonder who would be unlucky enough to cause a commotion when he was nearby, now that he was a teacher. He was full aware that, unlike him, Henry was rational enough to control his temper and his powers, something that he was jealous of. Sometimes, he wished that Henry was the one having his powers during the incident in the shipwreck, pretty sure that he would be more composed than he was.
He politely apologized to Dana and Teresa and explained that he had to follow Henry to make sure everything was okay. He would ask them to come along, so he wouldn't leave them alone, but he couldn't move Dana's chair and was embarrased to ask Teresa to do it, something that was obvious from the expression of a self-ashamed person he had. Instead, he promised to be back soon and rushed to the source of the commotion some time after Henry did.
The spectacle when he arrived was unique. Henry had grabbed to guys, one from the back of his shirt, the other from the collar. He was pretty sure that one of the guys was the one he thought to be Valjean in the Cafeteria, with the difference that he was covered in some sort of armor, or something similar. It was pretty amazing how this tough looking guy was lifted with just one arm by Henry, something that almost made Chris laugh, but managed to hold it in. The other one looked pretty normal to Chris, but in this school what seemed pretty normal didn't mean that it wasn't equally dangerous. The fact that he was unfazed by the appearance of the other guy meant a lot by itself. It reminded him of himself when he was younger. Deciding not to doze off in past memories, Chris said:
"Seems like you have proper control of the situation, teach. So, is this the guy you said I will possibly share a room with? This Val-whatever-his-name-is? Well, if he is, he is a tough looking fellow. However, I hope he takes off the armor when he sleeps, I wouldn't want it creaking during the night."
Chris didn't want to be provocative, but he knew that the tough guys of the Academy had only one way to handle them. Show them that you are not afraid of them. Not that they would stop thinking that they could beat you to a pulp, but at least they would know that you had the nerve to stand up to them. Most probably, Valjean would be the same.
Another girl also piqued Chris' interest, a familiar face, but he couldn't remember her at all. Maybe when all this fuss was over, he could have a word with her, to see if she was someone he knew.
