To my knowledge, they deal with affairs in the human world. Canon bleach just happens to all take place in one town, in one city, in one island, belonging to the nation of Japan XD
**Note: None of these skills are Squad 11 exclusive. Kenshin can teach them to anyone he wishes. Though, there may be trials and tribulations attributed to each skills in terms of learning them. ** Ryukiri: The sword is sheathed, and the user draws it, using the sheath to provide resistance and “flick” the sword as he quickdraws, performing a swift and powerful slash.
Samidare: If a slashing attack is evaded, and the opponent has increased the distance, the moment the tip of the slashing sword points at him, jump forward and deliver a thrust powered by your momentum.
Swordflick slash: By holding his sword arm stable, using his other arm, he applies the same principles as finger flick to unleash a sword slash of great force.
Flowing Sword:While holding his sword with both hands, and while moving it for a slash, he changes the position of the two hands on the hilt, and changes the course of the slash unpredictably.
Wrist slash: When blocking a sword, the user circles his blade around the opponent's, in a way that his own blade ends up in the inner side. Then, he swiftly slashes the opponent's wrist that holds the sword, reducing his sword skill significantly.
Ryusen: When executing a thrust with a sword, the user rotates his axis of gravity, adding a rotational force to the thrust, adding extreme piercing power and damage.
Kurodensen: When approaching an enemy, the user leans as close to the ground as possible. When the user is nearly parallel to the ground, they kick off with the back foot, dashing forward at a normally unachievable speed. Expert users can add shunpo to this skill, achieving god-like speed.
The next skills are attributed to a great friend.
Daini: Aragari (The Second: One Step, Sudden Death) Placing the sheathed sword upright and listening to the "heartbeat" of his opponent, the attack rapidly unsheathes, attacks, and sheaths the sword. This technique is done with incredible precision and speed, as the user cuts down the opponent in a matter of seconds
Daisan: Kamikaze ( "The Third: Divine Wind") Utilizing swift footwork, as well as pin-point movements, the user strikes their opponents many times in quick, rapid succession; striking with enough force to create wind swirls upon his blades edge. These wind swirls then lacerate the target brutally.
Daishi: Afurete ("The Fourth: Overflowing") A technique which incorporates the fundamental practices of Zanjutsu, quick movement and fine spiritual control. Before the technique even takes place the user channels large quantities of their spiritual energy into their zanpakutō, causing it to glow in the color unique to the owner. Daishi: Afurete then uses a swift movement to move to the opponents back, which is immediately followed by a backwards pierce at extreme speeds. The energy is then released as an overwhelming wave of pure spiritual force that takes the form of a shockwave. Should the users spiritual power be aligned to a specific element, such as fire, then the wave becomes a pillar of flames.
Daigo: Hasshin ("The Fifth: Eruption") A technique where the user makes a deep slash across an opponents mid-rift, packed with their spiritual energy, which possesses extreme cutting power. This spiritual energy acts to part the opponents, making Hierro and hardened skin, all but useless against it. Seconds following the initial strike, blood erupts from the wound, hence the name.
Dairoku: Gyaku Karasu ("The Sixth: Reverse Raven') The user quickly gest behind their opponent and then quickly doing a reverse spin hitting their opponent with the edge of the sword, slicing into them with an accurate and rapid slash.
Dashichi: Sayagi ("The Seventh: Scabbard Art") This technique requires fine levels of manipulation over one’s spiritual power, in which they channel their spiritual power through the hilt and externally surrounding the scabbard of their blade. Once achieved, the user then condenses this spiritual power to a very thin layer of energy which possesses notable cutting potential; a result of constant rotation of the spiritual energy. The user then makes a single arc motion with their sheath, combined with an exceptionally skilled swordsman; one can inflict several injuries in a single motion with this technique. However; it should be noted that the cutting potential of the technique is limited to causing incapacitation, as this is essentially a “peace-keeping” technique.
Dahachi: Kokunagare ("The Eighth: Cutting Flow") A very powerful and old fashioned technique that focuses on mastery of Iaido. Precise and strong, the user firmly whips their sword toward the foe in a upward swinging motion. As this move is conducted, a large concentration of spiritual energy is focused to the wrist. This allows the wrist to "snap" in any direction, sending a linear blast in the direction of the swing. This adds momentum which consequentially increases the strength of the overall slice. If connection is made, this move will literally slice straight through the foe, lacerating whatever may remain of the body. This move has many applications: the applications include, thrusting the blade forth to impale the foe, and if not struck then it will fire a spiritual beam in a linear direction. On another note, it can also be used in a defensive manner to weaken an incoming attack. This move is notably stronger then Hitotsume: Nadegiri.
Daikyu: Onigiri ("The Ninth: Demon Sword") This is a technique that requires a very high level of control over one's spiritual power, as the basis of the technique is a very fine manipulation of the user's reiryoku. The essence of the technique is to coat the edge of one's zanpakutō in an exceedingly fine layer of condensed reiryoku, greatly increasing the blade's cutting power. The fine layer of reiryoku surrounding the blade's edge now acts as its cutting edge and is so sharp that it can cut through almost anything. The potency of the technique increases with one's proficiency with manipulating their reiryoku reserves -- the finer the reiryoku layer surrounding the blade's edge, the greater its cutting power. It can even cut a Zanpakuto.
Shinshi No Kaze
The user, using their own body as a tilting axis, twists and turns while holding out their sword, delivering many consecutive slashes. the efficiency of this skill increase if the user is able to use two swords as it allows them to deliver more slashes in the same amount of time or spins
Daibutsu Otoshi
Using the upwards momentum of a swing, the user is carried into the air, then, at that point, the user executes a downwards swing, fueled and amplified by their height.
Same Hitonomi (Shark Bite) - The user first assumes a wide stance; holding their weapon by their shoulder (point or whatever pointing towards the enemy) with one hand, the other near the end of the weapon. It consists of a forward thrust, followed immediately by a lightning quick slash in whatever direction the target moves.
( A bit like a reverse Samidare. Instead of slash turned to a thrust, now a thrust that if avoided, turns into a slash, imitating a shark's sharp turn to bite a victim that shortly fled from before the shark )
Konpekishoryuzan
The water user, does a upward swing, bringing a torrent of water with them and when the swing is finished, the torrent of water hits the opponent, twisting upwards using the opponent's body as a pillar to rotate around, causing more damage. (Inspired by Soryuken *chuckles*)
Hana no Ido, Ki no Setusoku
The user, using shunpo, moves at their opponent in a thrust position with their sword in front of them. Once they get close enough, they fire a torrent of reiatsu (water for me) in a sword form, letting the momentum from shunpo take over and shoots it at their opponent, while the user changes direction and shunpo to the back of their opponent and does a physical thrust to pierce.
Sinlinbunkatsu
The user coats his sword in Reiatsu, then causes it to vibrate, the vibration causing a saw-like effect. Greatly enhances cutting power, but reduces the precision of the strike, because of the violent vibrations.
Kujira Shōgeki
A technique that mimics the motion of a whale's tail that rises above the ocean and then crashes back onto it. While lacking speed like other techniques, this technique has been noted to be exceptionally powerful. A technique involving a light upward slash, following a demolishing slash downward , the force of which was able to create a giant crater and destroy the surrounding buildings.
Kogimasu no hoo ni Sukui (the Oar that Rows Towards Salvation):
A dangerous Zanjutsu technique that requires a truly mammoth amount of water and tremendous spiritual power, the Kogimasu no hoo ni Sukui begins with the user gathering large amounts of water into and around the blade, then swinging his Zanpakutō like an oar, with the broad, flat side bracing against the fighting wind. Threads of visible Reiatsu--in his case, white tinted energy--trail behind the weapon and filter off into the massive vacuum created in the wake of the rapid movement. This void is produced so quickly that the air does not have time to collapse back in on itself until a full one hundred eighty degree arc has been completed. Once it has, the atmosphere instantly refills the empty space with outstanding speed, backed by the incredible infusion of power that the Captain's Reiatsu brings. The result is a concussive expansion of energy that spills forward with the appearance and subtlety of a white tidal wave, disintegrating whatever stands in its way until all of its legendary power is expended. This technique is strong enough to single-handedly level a few city but it’s quite taxing on one’s arm and Reiatsu.
Height: 6'0" Weight: 190lbs Reiatsu color: Royal purple Attire/Outer Appearance: Standard issue Shinigami clothing. Hair is kept long and in a ponytail.

₪ - History
Kenshin was born to the Kuroda family many years ago. Being the first born, he was expected to carry on the family name. His father, Arashi, was a renowned swordsman turned blacksmith. Although he no longer crafts instruments of death, the work of Arashi Kuroda can be seen all over his house.
Its actually fairly easy at a younger age to realize that you're the one expected to mimic what your father has done. Kenshin was put through rigorous training and tutoring. He received lessons from friends of the family, namely a former sensei to his father named Sengoku Kaien. Now, Mr. Kaien may appear to be a all-around nice guy, his training methods are brutal. Being born into the Shinigami world has its perks, such as healing techniques. When Kaien would injure young Kenshin in training, he would simply summon the family nurse to patch him up and resume training.
By doing this, he was able to gain the skills at a rapid pace, becoming stronger and smarter accompanied physical and emotional trauma. One time he got angry with his father and Kaien for their harsh training methods. At his outburst, the boy's father seemed to remember the training he had himself gone through years and years ago, and quickly made it clear that displays of anger, especially directed at one's father, were not tolerated his house.
And such was Kenshin's existence. He trained and learned daily under the harshest of methods, but only because his parents thought it would be ok for him to learn that way. So long as he kept his negative emotions in line, he would be left with less bruises too. He didn't really like this setup, but there wasn't really anything he could do about it, so he accepted it.
Even death gods must die...
Though he was familiar with death, growing up in Seiretei, Kenshin never had to deal with it personally until he was about ten. It was found out that his mother had been struck with a horrible disease. It was inoperable, and unable to be healed by any means as it attacked her entire body at once. The only thing that they could do was to sit by and watch as their mother wasted away.
Once she had finally passed, for a while something seemed off in the household to Arashi. He couldn't tell what it was at first, and then it struck him. His father. His father was missing from his usual position in the family. He wasn't blacksmithing or practicing his kendo. It was confusing to say the least. Though he wasn't happy with it, Kenshin had grown used to the sound of his father hammering away at burning hot steel or recapping their glory days with Kaien. This new, somber father just felt like a pale imitation. When he too passed, Kenshin wanted to mourn him, but didn't bring himself to do it. He could only see his old father, standing over him and telling him that swordsman showed no grief. As silly as it was, to Kenshin, his father's teaching finally gotten into him...
The academy....
Just like his friends, Kenshin found himself in the academy. He had trained along with them; so he saw no reason to let the skills he had been working on go to waste. While his friends had their own strengths and weaknesses, Kenshin seems to have been set on a path of becoming an specialist. Of course, he found certain things to be interesting as well. Hakuda was one such subject. Arashi was able to memorize and utilize attack patterns more easily than the others. This gave him some sense of body control that training in swordsmanship did not offer him.
Kido, on the other hand, tried its best to escape him it seemed. Try as he might, he couldn't manage to grasp the natural skill that some of his friends seemed to command. He wasn't the strongest in the world, but he would have a lot of work to do if he ever wanted to be as capable a spell caster as some of his friends.
Enter the dragon...
It was some time after he had graduated from the academy when he first heard his zanpakuto spirit. Though he had been decent in his zanpakuto resonance class, and had felt their presence, not once had he heard a word from them. It was a little maddening to say the least. At first, when he felt even the slightest squeak from his sword, he would rush into introducing himself and then it would be silent...
He finally heard him for the first time one day after a particularly bad mission. A foolish comrade had blown their cover and the group of hollows they had been following had attacked. It frightened him, but his father's words of not showing fear came back to him. The only thing he could think of was how Kaien would laugh at his misery and that only encouraged him and he charged at the group of hollows, seemingly alone...
When he awoke, he found himself lying on a cliff. The sounds of the breeze weaving through grass past him by. He looked around for a moment and was confused. What was he doing on a grassy hil, and how did he get there? He got up and brushed himself off and began wandering around. He couldn't tell just how long he spent wandering until he came to the clearing and saw the tree. Majestic and ancient. He had only five seconds to admire the beauty before he was attacked. He doubled over, trying to protect his head from the blows raining down on it from an unknown source. He finally managed to throw off his attacker and found it to be a large man, similar in age to himself. His calm demeanor after the sudden attack, his almost foolish and otherworldly attire and his sword tied to his waist confirm to Kenshin that the man he was looking at was his zanpakuto spirit, Hiryu.
At first they just stared at each other. Kenshin with confusion, and Hiryu with cold disdain. When he finally asked why he was so cold, all he said was that he was trying too hard. With that, he turned from Kenshin and went over to the tree atop the hill. He followed him and sat next ot him by the tree. He explained, nonchalantly, that the reason he had never spoken to him before is because he thought him to be too much of an overachiever. That he was not worth him protecting.
He had finally thought him worthy of audience with him when he charged the group of hollows. He had realized that it wasn't that he wasn't courageous or trying too hard, he was just trying to do what is right for his friends. He said his way of keeping this courage from showing was stupid, and that nothing good would come of it. Kenshin, now understanding what was going on, merely smiled and stared at the starry sky.
This, of course, earned him some animosity from his spirit, but instead of turning from him, he decided to teach him his release phrase. Perhaps saying the phrase would help him feel the fires of courage that should be shown sometimes. It didn't but the incident did start the relationship of zanpakuto and wielder to the levels it was destined to reach, though neither of them could be entirely sure just where that was.
To sleep, and to wake....
When Kaien fell into a coma, Kenshin was distressed to say the least. Although Kenshin felt a brief moment of glee, he felt guilty and never thought it again. He didn't want to lose his friend, his teacher, as easily as he had lost his parents. After all, he had looked up to Kaien growing up, and had been most fond of the few moments when they laughed together while during their lessons. They said one day he might wake up, but Kenshin, predictably, was impatient. He didn't want to have to wait for his friend to wake up. He made a deal one night by Kaien's bedside. If Kenshin got strong enough, Kaien would wake up. Perhaps a bit childish of a thing to make, but what was he supposed to do? The doctors had treated the situation like adults, but that didn't do anything.
Kenshin then left him while taking his pipe and herbs. He knew how precious these two items were to Kaien. He knew full well that if he were to wake, Kenshin would face the wrath of a thousand suns for committing such actions. He didn't care. He would keep them as memento and as motivation to get stronger. Not only because he looked up to Kaien, also because he wants to avoid his wrath as much as possible.
This was the story of Kuroda Kenshin before his ascension to become the captain of Squad Eleven. His old friend Sengoku Kaien did wake from his coma. However, he was stripped of all of his memories, and that included his fighting prowess. Now, Kaien wanders the world, seeking what he claims to be 'The Truth". The pouch and pipe that Kenshin took years ago have been returned to their rightful owner, in the hopes of sparking some sort of memory. It did, but not all was regained. Kaien remember the time he spent with both Arashi and Kenshin during Kenshin's formative years, but nothing before or after.
₪ - Abilities
Kenshin can be considered a master with the sword, as it is his normal means of combat. He can be considered a hand-to-hand combat master, however it is not his preferred means of combat. In terms of kido, one can say Kenshin has nearly no talent. Fast and agile, Kenshin can be considered a adequate shunpo practitioner, able to keep up with other captains.
Hiryu is the name of Kenshin's zanpakuto. The relationship between the two of them is...symbiotic. Hiryu, being the goof that he is, often despises the amount of work Kenshin puts in in order to better himself. In turn, Kenshin being the more serious one of the two, often scolds Hiryu on the lack of effort shown. However, this behavior is not indicative of the pair's synergy. When in battle, the two syncs up, exerting maximum effort required for the situation, often lending the other their strength in order to complete the mission. They share many similarities. They both like tea, sweets and they can both be a bit of a womanizer at times.
₪ - Inner World
The inner world of Hiryu is a grassy hill under the cover of a starry night. On the hill there is a single tree. There are also a jug of sake and a herb pouch on the ground. Kenshin has oft wondered about the contents of said jug and pouch. Hiryu, however, has never divulged any information on the matter.
₪ - Shikai
Kenshin calls out the words 'Set Sail' in order to release his shikai. In this stage, not much a a transformation happens. However, Hiryu now gains control over the element of water, able to use it in various applications.
Skills 1. Dragon Lance(Ryu no Yari): A dragon shaped lance made from highly pressurize water, able to travel at high speed. 2. Wave Fortress(Nami no Toride): A massive tidal wave able to block, or at least slow projectile attacks. Physical attacks will be slowed but blocking it completely will be nearly impossible. 3. Wave Spire(Nami no Sento): A pillar of water rises from the earth to launch the enemy into the air while the concussive force from the water doe damage.
₪ - Bankai
Kenshin chants the words 'Plunge into the abyss and conquer the sea' in order to enter his bankai. In this stage, the name of his zanpakuto is Ginsuba no Hiryu. The sword becomes a royal purple, matching Kenshin's reiatsu. There is also a golden gem adorning the pommel of the sword.
Skills are the same as shikai. However, they are stronger and he can use them without swinging his sword and can control their direction with thought alone.
Ultimate Skill: Purple Rain(Murasaki no Ame): Instead of one Dragon Spear, numerous spears began falling from the sky, bombarding the battle field. Wherever the 'rain drops' hit, a wave spire immediately follows. One more possible effect of this skill is that Kenshin can freeze anything the rain drop touches.
