Kojiro was on his way back to headquarters after spending his entire morning dealing with a hostage situation in a neighboring city. He received word that a man, being chased by authorities after robbing a local jewelry store had run into a local elementary school and taken the students and faculty captive. Since Kojiro’s agency was pretty close, he was called in to help deescalate the situation and rescue the hostages if necessary. The ordeal took longer than expected but in the end, no one got hurt and the culprit was apprehended so it was a win in his book.
After everything was over, he thought it’d be nice to walk back to his agency. It was a beautiful day, the sun was shining, and he felt great. Although it was tiring and most times stressful, saving people was something he thoroughly enjoyed. It gave him a sense of euphoria.
People immediately began to recognize him as he turned to walk up a busy street.
“Oh my god, is that the pro hero Kurogane?” He could hear one woman ask her friend as her face lit up. He flashed a quick smile and waved at the pair as they passed. He continued waving, smiling, and greeting people as they spotted him.
A small boy, accompanied by his parents stopped him to ask for an autograph and Kojiro was happy to oblige. He had just finished high fiving the young boy when he heard a series of small explosions nearby. He looked up and saw a cloud of smoke rising up from a block or two away. “You folks head that way and be careful,” he said to the family as he directed them in the opposite direction of the commotion.
“What now,” he mumbled as he started sprinting towards the chaos.
Rounding a corner, he could now see that there was something crazy going down at Balla Halla Bank. Through the smoke, he could see people fighting what looked like robots in front of the bank. Some of them had already been disposed of and lay on the ground in heaps of steaming metal and sparking circuitry. One of the people battling the bots he recognized as the pro hero The Slippery One. The other he didn’t know but his face looked strangely familiar.
Just as he gets out front, he sees a helicopter flying away from the bank and concludes it must be the people responsible for the attack. They were getting away but at this point there was nothing he could do about it.
A loud roar from one of the hero’s got his attention back to the fight. Turning back to the cyborgs, he pulled his staff from its place on his back and jumped into the fray. A cyborg leapt at him and he brought his weapon into both hands and swung swiftly, hitting it right in its abdomen. As he swung he used his quirk to change the properties of the metal in his staff, making it significantly more dense. When it connected, it was like the cyborg got hit with a mac truck and it exploded as it went rocketing into a nearby car.
Three more came after him. He decreased the density of his staff to give him more maneuverability and swung it in an arc striking all three cyborgs and pushing them back. This gave him a bit more space to operate in. One to his left came at him and he kicked it away. At the same time, the cyborg to his right swiped at him and he stretched the metal of his staff, making it into a small shield to block the blow. He then swung around to grab the one he had just kicked and threw him into the other two. Reshaping the metal in his weapon once more, this time into a spear, he chucked it at the cyborgs, skewering all three at once. As they powered down he grabbed the spear and ran next to the other heroes. “Didn’t look like you guys needed a hand, but I thought I’d help anyway,” he said smiling at them and preparing to turn more of the cyborgs into spare parts.
