Finally finished editing that transcript. At this point the only person I'm rooting for in this case is the judge.

Bio

I'm a 24 year old college student with a "tragic past" and a series of flunked schools and medical bills. Roleplaying has been my one escape from a harsh reality while growing up, and I really appreciate this site and everyone on it.

I've been on Roleplayer Guild for eight years, going on nine in a few months.

I started roleplaying at 13 on an Invader Zim fan site... I accept my shame and disgrace.

SOUNDS ABSOLUTELY AWESOME!
Count me in!

I love the enthusiasm! Hope on over to the OOC! We’re still accepting!
@Lord of Evil Yes, we do still have room! However, we will be accepting Familiars again once we get a few more mages. Errorist, onenote and I are going to be working on getting our second CS's up today, which will bring our confirmed Mage count up to 6.

@Jacobite, @Hammerman, @Discontent, we'll be reviewing your CS's hopefully by noon. I'm afraid I'm the only one on right now, and I can't interpret the quiz results all by my lonesome. However, things look good, and assuming the others don't find flaws that I've overlooked, you should be all set to enter! Which would definitely bring balance to our Mage:Familiar ratio.

@MechonRaptor Thank you for offering, it's very kind of you. I think that after we get our 3 mage characters up and work on accepting the two we have, we'll be balanced. No need for you to change, but I'm very grateful you offered. ^^
@Invader Len
@onenote
Oh yeah, forgot to tell you that I already fixed my CS.

And my character's a mage. Thank God I didn't make her a familiar.

Just two questions/concerns. You mentioned her health and frailty, and how they kept her from attending school before. Why? Why is she sick and frail? Is she still sickly? If she’s so delicate and unhealthy that attending school is too dangerous, how is she supposed to fair at a boarding school? If you could explain this and tell us if she’s still sickly and to a more specific extent, that would help immensely.

Next up, for the question of her tutoring, all the characters in the RP start out at the same level magic wise. Because some characters don’t have their magic or ability manifest until their first year, its highly unusual that she would get this tutoring at an early age. This would make her much more advanced than the other mages, and for equality’s sake, we’re gonna have to put our foot down on that. She can have received supplementary tutoring after starting high school, but I’m gonna be highly skeptical about before.

If you could address these issues over her health and tutoring, and correct your CS accordingly, we would be happy to admit your character. :)
Is it possible for a familiar to make it to the second year without manifesting their ability?

Yes, it is possible. Some abilities are very tricky, or have requirements that Familiars on their own just aren’t able to meet. My character Richard hasn’t had his Ability manifest yet, despite this being his second year.
@Sylph Congratulations! You’re accepted! Your character’s Ability is a Kinetic Ability, Levitation! Your character can levitate herself up and down, and float lighter than air! To move around while levitating, however, your character will have to kick some walls or “swim” in mid air, as the levitation only allows her to move up and down. Without a mage, you can only levitate 15 feet off the ground, and only for a short time, perhaps 20 minutes. However, with proper training, you can expand both your range and durations! Be careful not to fall!
@Raijinslayer Sorry, I didn't read it through the first time. Its very late here and I'm tired. XD But I've been having problems too. My text box keeps deselecting every few seconds. Makes it impossible to write.
@Invader LenI was trying to find that section of the rules, but must’ve missed it. I’ll make the edit and I like the power. A bit underwhelming for his chosen profession of Adventurer(question, what does that particular job entail?) But hey, he’ll make it work. Plus, it suits his weird look and plethora of lizard buddies(is changing Vulcan from bearded dragon to a chameleon)

If you'd like, we can reconvene and give you an alternative power. Given how your character said their ability was connected with their appearance, we tried to give you something we though worked well with that. But you do have one free do over, if you’d like to use it.

As for Adventurers guilds, they have a variety of functions. Some serve as outposts for bounty hunters and odd jobs, others are dedicated to the population control of certain magical pests and monsters. Others are much more conservationist in nature, and protect forests, parks, endangered species, and fight poachers. Finally, some adventures guilds are more treasure oriented, either being outright treasure hunters, or made up of historians and anthropologists who want to discover and protect ancient heritage sites. The goal of the guild varies, obviously, and it comes down to what kind of Adventurer you want to be when you join one. I hope that cleared things up.
@Raijinslayer No worries, double posts happen!

We just have one, itty, bitty, minuscule detail we’d like to point out. You don’t get a partner your first year. You first get your partner your second year. But that’s a small fix.

Other than that, Congratulations! You’re accepted! Your character has an Enigma Ability, ultra rare! Your Ability is Chameleon! Your character can change the color of their hair, skin, and eyes to match their surroundings! Without much training, the changes in color rely heavily on your mood. However, with training and the help of a mage, you can learn to change colors without expending as much energy, and change your colors at will! You can’t change your actual physical characteristics or clothes, however. Bummer on that. But still, very cool!
@Klaykid Not strictly. If you're 8-9 hours into your wait time and someone else is waiting on you, it’s not like we’ll kick ya of posting. The time limit is just there to 1)Prevent point farming and 2)Allow others a chance to post before situations move too fast.

And in other news, Congratulations! You’re accepted! You’ve got a tricky Ability! Your Ability is Flash Prescience! Flash prescience is a rare psychic Ability, that gives you instinctive knowledge of an enemy’s move 1 second before it hits you! This gives you an opportunity to try and dodge the hit! However, it has its limits. Without a mage, you can only see 1 second ahead of you, and only focus on one incoming attack at a time. You also don’t have super reflexes or super tactics as a result of this, so you may not be able to avoid every attack. In addition, anything moving faster than you that you won’t be able to dodge will hit you. But, with training, you can learn to detect multiple incoming attacks at once, and perhaps even gain a second or two on that attack detection! Pretty handy!

Name: Richard J. Bateman

Image or Description:
(sorry for the shoddy drawing, it was a quick sketch)
Richard stands at 6'2" and weighs 160lbs. Very tall for his age, he's long and lithe, with some muscle he's built up from swimming. He wears silver-rimmed glasses and always wears button-up shirts, even when out of uniform. He has a long, thin scar on his shoulder blade from an accident when he was a child.

Age: 16

Gender: Male

Orientation: Heterosexual

Mage or Familiar: Familiar

Ability: Invisibility. An Enigma ability, Richard can turn himself various levels of translucent, eventually turning completely invisible. The ability seems to be connected to his stress level. With practice, he may be able to master it and turn invisible at will.

Partner: Robert Allen

Personality: Richard is a smart, caring young with a strong sense of responsibility. While polite and cordial to strangers, he’s prickly, dry, and gruff to his friends, and sarcastic to a fault. A secret fan of puns, he doesn’t like being in the spotlight, and most of his humor happens behind closed doors. He’s terribly anxious when put on the spot, and stammers terribly when nervous. Despite this, however, he’s strong willed, stubborn and even something of a sore loser. He doesn’t let himself be pushed around, even by those with more money and power than him. He can hold a mean grudge, and can be surprisingly manipulative in his revenge. His greatest goal is to get through St. Fortuna’s intense system in one piece, and attend college in Lynden.

Biography: Richard was born in Lynden, to John G. Bateman Jr. and Paula Bateman, a doctor and nurse couple. They doted on their only son, and did their best to raised him to be polite, friendly, and level-headed. John was the son of a former minister, and had abandoned a career in politics to become a doctor. He had met Paula at St. Fortuna’s, and they quickly fell in love. Sentimental about the place, they decided they would prepare their son to attend in hopes he could one day find his match. Money was put into a savings account to pay for tuition, and little Richard was quickly put on a path to academic success.

He met Beatrice Quincy in elementary school by chance. She was the daughter of a minister, he was a minister’s grandson. They hated each other at first sight. Richard hated Beatrice for being loud and obnoxious, Beatrice hated Richard for being prickly and stuck up. They constantly fought, calling each other names, pulling hair, and pushing one another. Somehow, along the way, the fighting grew more friendly, and by middle school, they were best friends. They both applied to St. Fortuna’s their final year of middle school, and were accepted.

Richard has loved swimming since he was a grade schooler, and spent most of his summer days in the pool. His parents encouraged him to try out for his school's swim team in middle school, and Richard made it on to the team. Though he's never won gold, he has gotten two bronze medals and one silver.
Though his parents want him to go to med school and take over the clinic from them, Richard secretly is more interested in politics, and wants to follow in his grandfather's footsteps. However, his low-self esteem, tendency to stammer, and his cowardice get in his way. Currently, he believes he has no hope of ever becoming a charismatic public speaker.

Richard still has yet to discover his Ability, the tests he took during his first year remain inconclusive. Feeling like a disappointment, Richard’s parents assured him that he was just a late bloomer and he would find it with the help of a partner. He hopes they’re right, as he doesn’t know if he can handle being the only familiar in his second year without an Ability. If he had to deal with that, he might as well just disappear.

Likes: Richard likes reading, video games, and staying inside. He’s very much a city boy, and likes keeping things neat, clean, and tidy. He enjoys swimming, history, and mathematics. Sour and bitter foods are his favorite. He likes being in control of the situation and having things go his way. Despite his grumpy demeanor in private, he cares for Beatrice like the sister he never had.

Dislikes:Richard hates spicy food, messes, bad weather, and fights. He can’t hold his own in a fight, and has never used his fists in his life. He hates being humiliated and looked down on, and can hold a mean grudge. He’s allergic to bird feathers, and doesn’t like cats very much. He can’t stand horror and gore, and hates horror movies as a result. He hates his stammer and inner cowardice.

Points: 8

Proficiency: 1

Intelligence: 5

Athletics: 4

Misc.: Richard loves coffee-flavored sweets, and can be bribed easily with them. He doesn’t understand poetry much at all. He's proficient in Lutetian, though not fluent. He harbors a secret love for karaoke and plays the ukulele. He got his scar from a car accident that hospitalized him for a month when he was 10.

What is your character's greatest regret?

Richard’s greatest regret is that he feels he let his parents down with his personality. He feels like he’s too cowardly, cynical, and sarcastic to be the child his parents raised, and feels guilty as a result.

Your character is home alone after watching a horror movie and they hear a strange sound. What do they do?

First thing he’d do is probably jump out of his chair. Richard does not handle horror well. He’d then probably leave the house as quickly as possible, and waste time at a late-night restaurant until his parents come home.

Two of your characters’ friends are fighting over something trivial, and they want them to stop. How do they go about this?

He’d point out the wrongs and rights of both of their arguments, and try to mediate between them and find a suitable compromise. Or, if it’s something stupid, he’d tell them to get over it.

While your character is on their way to class, they realize they forgot something crucial. They’re already on the verge of running late. What do they do?

He’d continue on to class and try to bullshit his way through it without it. Better to make a mistake that you can cover up than publicly lose face.

If your character had the opportunity to turn into any animal, what would that animal be?

Probably a frog, actually. Something that can swim and jump long distances, and he’s always liked frogs and amphibians somewhat.

If your character’s house were on fire, and they only had time to save one thing from their room, what would it be?

A toy rabbit his mom gave him when he was a baby. He’s kept it ever since, hidden deep in his closet. He wants to give it to his kids one day.

What season does your character like best and why?

Summer! Richard loves when the weather is good, sun is shining, and pools are open. He loves warm weather and being able to roll up his shirt sleeves.

Vacation! You character gets to spend a week anywhere! Where is it and what do they do?

To the beach, probably. Anywhere warm, sunny, and quiet. A secluded cove with a coral reef, perfect for diving and sunbathing.
