Name: Leona Deirdre Reagan (Leo for short)



Appearance:Raised as an athlete, Leo is in strong physical condition and keeps in shape. She is 5’6" and weighs about 137 pounds she is an athlete more in the cardio sense. Leo dresses in homey casual clothes most of the time, such as sweatshirts, sweatpants and a bandana with her dark brown hair loose. If she is every going to participate in one of her activates she always has a change of clothes such as a team jersey and shorts. Her key distinguishing features are mostly on her face, she has ghostly blue eyes and is covered in freckles. She also has a small scar on her forehead from the time she fell out of the tree and cracked her skull slightly.

Personality: Leo is a farm girl, she has the heart of oxen and the loyalty of a dog. Ignorance is bliss and Leo is living in bliss, she might not know a lot about science or math… or English or pretty much anything in school, but she keeps her head up high and keeps trying. Leo is well known in her town because she is always smiling and joyful to everyone she meets.

The truth is Leo actually mildly autistic, it is mild enough that it only makes school and some social interactions difficult for her. But even so it does not bother her, she is happy with the life she was given and makes every day of it. That is where exercise comes into her life.

Leos mind is cloudy and she can never focus on anything, it hurts her head when she tries to understand something such as math. But every time her head starts to hurt she can just go for a run and let her body take control of her mind. She does not need to think while exercising, she can just do it that is why she is always on the move. Running is just one of the main activities she does to help with her head, anything that can get her body moving she will do, it is the only time she feels completely normal.

Likes: Exercise, moving around, her family farm and animals

Dislikes: School, math in particular and heights

Hobbies: Swimming, Running, and soccer

Background: Leona was born a completely healthy baby, which in the time of mass miscarriages and stillbirths it was a miracle. She was raised on her family’s farm and loved to explore the areas all around, the world was an exciting place and growing up on a farm meant an adventure every day. She was extremely creative and her imagination would take her on amazing journeys through anything she could think of, her mother always said that she was going to grow up to be a writer.

It was a cold fall afternoon, Leo was playing outside by herself while her father was butchering the swine that were too old to last another winter. Leo was pretending to be Peter Pan, her favorite storybook character. She had a makeshift sword made out of cardboard, she was fighting the invisible pirates and the evil Captain Hook. Leo decided to climb up the large oak tree in the corner of the property so the pirates could not reach her. She got about 10 feet off the ground when she found a sturdy branch she could stand on. She started to walk on the branch, almost like a tightrope walker doing a balancing act. Her mother came outside to call her in for dinner, she called her name loudly just like every day but this time, Leo was startled by her mother. Leo lost her balance and fell fast and hard.

Leo felt warm all over her face, it was weird like someone was pouring hot water on her head. She reached up to wipe off the feeling but when she pulled her hand away all she saw was red. Her screams caused her mother and father to rush over to her as quickly as possible. When they found her it was clear that she had hit her head on one of the large rocks surrounding the tree. Her father picked her up and carried her to his truck and took her to the nearest hospital. It was quite a sight to see, Leos dad did not get changed after butchering the pigs and now he was carrying his bloody daughter through the front doors of a hospital.

Leo woke up three days after the accident, she had 17 stitches in her head and a fracture in her skull. The doctor was not sure yet if there would be any permanent brain damage but Leo knew right away that something was wrong. The first thing her father when they got Leo back home, was cutting down the old oak tree. As the months went by it was clear something was wrong with Leo, she was never a smart child but she was creative and now her adventures had stopped. Leo no longer had the great imagination she once had, her creativity was now a gray cloud in her head.
As Leo grew she learned to deal with her issues, it was clear that despite her best efforts she could never keep up with the others in school. She was offered special help for class but she refused it, she did not want to be treated differently. The hardest part for Leo was the fact that she knows what it was like to be normal, and she struggles every day to go back. The unfortunate reality is that there is no easy fix to her issues, only ways to make life easier for herself. Which is what she did.

Leo never let her accident get in her way of being happy, she is always upbeat and kind. She treats everyone the way she would like to be treated. Though she struggled through high school, she did have an extremely fun time, there was never a dull moment with Leo around. Now that graduation is coming up, she is not planning to go to a fancy college in actuality she is planning to work on the farm with her parents and then take if over once they can no longer run it. It seemed to be a good life plan for her, she did not need anything fancy just a nice place to live surrounded by people that love her.

Sadie Douglas

It was 4:30 AM when Sadie awoke, the sun has yet to rise and the birds have yet to begin to chirp. Sadie rose to a sitting position in her bed and raised her arms far above her head to stretch from a good night’s rest. Then she flung her feet to the side and slide her right foot into her slipper but for some reason, the left slipper was not there. She thought to herself that it was very odd for her slipper to be missing because of it always being in the same spot every morning where she leaves it every single night. She shrugged it off and continued to get ready for work. It was a simple routine and it was always the same every day, shower, make up, get dressed and get out of the house. Today she wore a white T-shirt, jeans and a jean jacket with her white converse. She grabbed her keys and her pre-bagged lunch and walked out the door of her small one bedroom apartment only 3 blocks away from the radio station.

She walked to the station around 5:45 AM, she was always the first one there, which is why they gave her the keys to open up the place. She has been doing the same routine for 3 years now and she loves every day of it. She made sure the coffee was brewing for everyone and then she started to get set up in the booth for today’s show. Plugging in her flash drive to the laptop on her desk, she was able to load her talking points and news she got the night before. Samuel the technician showed up about 10 minutes after Sadie, like usual. He sat down outside the booth with coffee in his hand and large bags under his eyes, it was clear he did not enjoy his job nearly as much as Sadie did.

As Sadie pulled the microphone closer to her face she could see Samuel starting the countdown on his hand. 3... 2... 1... "Good morning Baltham, Washington it looks like it is going to be another cloudy day and I’m going to be spending it with all of you while playing all the hits. This is 91.3 The Mesh and I am your host Sadie Douglas lets kick it off with the Boomtown Rats - I Don't Like Mondays.” With that her microphone was turned off and the melody started playing over the radio. For Sadie this is her life, broadcasting to hundreds of people and for some people, her voice might be the first one they hear in the morning, it makes Sadie happy knowing that she has an effect on people she doesn’t even know.

Soon the Boomtown Rats were winding down and Sadie had to start up again. She pulled the microphone close and waited for the song to end, she took a sharp breath and began, “Welcome to anyone that is joining us now, that was the Boomtown Rats- I don’t like Mondays and let’s just say I am sure they are not the only ones. It is going to be another cloudy day here in Baltham, Washington, which is good because it gives me an excuse for always being so pale! Coming up next we have an extremely easy way to burn 150 calories in an hour, I’ll give you a hint it requires hitting your head against a wall. Stay tuned, this is Sadie Douglas on 91.3 The Mesh.” This time, she sent them to commercials, it was a cushy job, not much work when you are there but putting a few extra hours after never hurts anyone.

Her day went on like that for a few more hours until lunch. Sadie always packs her own lunch and the station puts on music for 30 minutes non-stop rock, while she is eating. Sadie likes to eat in the studio with the other workers, the just loves being in the building in general. She normally finishes her meal quickly and chats with her coworkers but today something happened. Samuel busted into the lounge where Sadie was eating, “There was a shooting you need to go on now” He said excitedly. Sadie had a mouthful of a sandwich but still jumped out of her seat and ran with Samuel back to the booth. When she walked in Samuel handed her a slip of paper with all of the information they had which was almost none at all but still Sadie’s job was to keep the public informed if something like this happened.

The song that was playing faded out and Sadie began “We have some breaking news folks, there has been a shooting on Bainbridge Island. The only information we have is that three men were involved one of them being an officer. It seems as though one man was attacking the other and the officer stepped in and used unnecessary force. As far as we are aware the victim was unarmed but also not willing to cooperate with the officer. We will keep you updated as we find out more information, stay safe out there everyone.” As Sadie’s voice disappeared the next song started to play Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Sacrilege.

Sadie is a stringy girl, very loose and vibrant but not athletic at all. Standing at 5′ 11″ and weighing around 119.05 pounds, quite a bit below the average American female. Her father was Lithuanian decent and mother Greek so Sadie is a mix half and a half. She has long Light Blond wavy hair that goes past her shoulders and lights brown eyebrows that are small but bushy. A long straight nose just above her thin, kind smile. Her eyes are her key feature on her face, they are huge compared to the rest of her face and the color of a bright blue sky. Altogether a very fresh-faced natural appearance.

Sadie does not dress up very often or even ever, she only wears jeans and button up casual shirts. Never wears earrings or any jewelry, in general, it takes to much effort. It’s a very simple outfit as long as she has shorts or jeans around pretty much any casual t-shirt or button up will work. As long as she is comfortable she is happy, this includes hoodies, sweatshirts, and leggings even sweat pants on some occasions. There is no high maintenance for Sadie strictly casual all of the time.

Sadie is a pure hearted individual, she has never once tried to hurt anyone. It is a part of her people pleasing attitude, other people’s happiness makes Sadie happy. This is almost to a fault, she is scared of conflict and tends to let people walk over her if they desire to. But she is a boisterous person at the same time, she is just a friendly chatterbox.

Sadie is mainly a workaholic, every day she spends 2 to 4 extra hours from her already 8 hour work day just preparing for the next day’s show. She loves her job and her whole life has been working up to it, she is a driven individual when it comes to something she wants. Though she is also the laziest person if the job entails something she does not want to do.

As Sadie has grown older and accomplished her occupational dream, she realized that she missed out on a lot of things that a normal 29-year-old should have done already. Though she is a very talkative and friendly person on the radio, in reality, she has never had a steady relationship and has trouble making serious friendships. Living alone just waiting for the next day to go to work is not exactly what Sadie had in mind when she was planning her future.

Sadie grew up in a suburban town in Illinois called Evanston. It was far enough away to be considered a suburb but close enough to Chicago to visit the city often. Her father worked at as an engineering technician for the Boeing Company which has grown exponentially as the years have gone by. Her mother decided to leave her career as an actress in order to raise her child, Sadie. Sadie was born September 16th, it was a rainy day but her eyes were full of joy. As she grew older, her mother and father both spent a ton of time with her, each teaching her their pastime hobbies. For her mother it was acting, being a personality and center stage for strangers’ enjoyment, and her father decided to give her some technology lessons, he felt it was a more practical skill compared to acting. Sadie fell somewhere in between the two she choose to entertain people while still using the knowledge of technology her dad taught her.

At first, Sadie started out as a troubled child, always talking during class and making jokes to her desk buddies. Of course getting sent down to the office for disrupting the class was getting Sadie in a ton of trouble at home. Her problems with talking in class subsided when her dad brought her home a CB radio that he got from work. It was not damaged just did not have the range that this specific radio was supposed to have. Sadie would rush home from school just to get on that radio and see who she could talk to today, after months of chatting with strange truckers or other oddballs in their basements playing with a CB radio, she began to get bored. So she started to mess around with the radio seeing what wires did what, she was no technician but her father taught her enough to understand the basics. With a lot of help from her father and a few stolen parts from Boeing Company, it was finally completed Sadie’s first radio broadcast channel. Well sort of it could only reach out to the end of her neighborhood and the signal was not very strong even within range, but she convinced her neighbors to give it a listen and she performed almost every night.

As Sadie grew older so did her thirst for performing over the radio. Sure reaching her neighborhood was cute and doing the high school announcements was fun, but Sadie wanted more and she was driven to get more. Right out of high school she moved to Baltham, Washington and got an internship at the KCED radio station. Of course, she worked there for free as a technical engineer, fixing the sound quality and getting playlists set up. It was easy to work and boring for her but she was just excited to be in the same room where music was broadcasted all over this district. It was not until a guest did not show up and they needed to fill air time that Sadie jumped up to the opportunity, she created a parody of the guest and used it to answer the prewritten questions but with jokes instead of actual answers. The audience and host of the show liked it so much they made her a recurring segment where she did impressions of famous people and did interviews. Soon she grew in so much popularity to the station that they made her Co-Host.

As the years went by she became just another voice you hear in the morning on your way to work. The original host left and handed over his title to Sadie who now solo hosted the show. She wanted to make the show as entertaining as possible, so she hired other you inspired individuals that care deeply about the radio business as much as she did. Sure she still worked for a big company but she had enough power to get a young aspiring musician named Saoirse a job at the station as a cleaner. Sure it was not a glamor’s job for a young musician but it still got her close to where her music might be played one day.

Being so focused on her career she realized she did not have much of a social life. Her only friends are work friends and the occasional random person on the street that recognizes her voice. She spends most of her days preparing for the next show or playing with her collections of old CB radios. So now she is single, living alone and turning 30 this year, but at least she has her dream job.
