“Unlucky bastards,” muttered Luke as he scanned the freshly corpse riddled battlefield, his nerves finally calm enough to keep his head straight, though the uneasy feeling remained within his gut as he knew they were to head out soon to join in the fight. It was odd really, he hadn’t felt this nervous since the first few days of boot camp. Now, as he looked out towards the carnage a few machine guns were capable of he knew it was a only a small taste of what was to come in the coming days. A small sigh escaped as his thoughts began to grow deeper on the future so he began to look over his rifle once again and felt his nervousness dull slightly as he always found a small amount of comfort in keeping his weapon in pristine condition.

While getting rid of a small smudge on the nearly shining bolt of his rifle he glanced around at his team and overheard a few of them talking, promising to look out for each other, or finding ways to find comfort before they headed out. He heard one of them, Isaac if he remembered correctly, promise to not let them all end up like the slaughtered Cavaliers. That was good to know, but he just hoped he would be able to keep that promise. After a minute or two of giving his gear one last check his head snapped up as the Captain arrived to inform them of the other Squads moving up and the defenders pulling back. A smile spread to his face upon hearing this news, though it shortly dulled a bit as he continued.

When hearing that the Captain wouldn’t be joining them in their advancement Luke held back the urge to shrug, a bit indifferent to the news. He had heard the man was an ass anyway. Then he moved on to Green Fox. Luke's smile dulled even more as he explained who this Green Fox was and held back a comment about the Captain staying back. He must have been glad since this apparent infamous marksman was gunning for people like him. Oh well, maybe he’d have a chance to take down this Green Fox, it’d be a great start to his career. Finally though the Captain came to the end of his briefing with an order to not allow a Private Farris to be harmed. Luke arched a brow at this and glanced over to the soldier with a bit of curiosity. What was so special about her? He would admit she was a cute girl, but nothing about her seemed to special. In fact she looked out of place and didn’t seem to belong on the field. He shrugged though and didn’t dwell on it to much, though he would have to learn a bit more later.

With a final fuck off and stating the Federation needed them the Captain ended his briefing and then the Squad began to move out. As he turned his back to the captain and walked along his fellow soldiers Luke couldn’t help but roll his eyes and scoff. “Well ain’t he a charming fellow? It’s almost sad we won’t have such a pleasant attitude joining us,” he sarcastically stated before letting out a sigh and resting his rifle on his shoulder while looking up towards the depressing sky above them. “He gets to hang back in comfort while we march deep in hostile territory with not only a nest of pissed off Imps ready to take a shot at us, but some master marksman who could be waiting around any nook and cranny, just waiting to blow a hole in our skulls,” he said before letting a large grin roll onto his face and giving a small chuckle. “Oh well, more fun on our end,” he stated with a final chuckle of confidence. "Amone here we come!"

With a heavy yawn Luke awoke to hear several voices from outside his cabin, some in a rush and others with stern authority in their tones. It took him a few seconds, but as the voices grew louder and closer he realized what was going on before scrambling out of his bunk. “Damn it I thought this was over with when we got out of basic!” he hissed under his breath as he hurried to get dressed and gather his gear. He felt both excitement and annoyance as he pulled his clothes on, it was obvious they were about to reach their destination and finally get off of this damn train, but with this sudden awakening to get prepared for departure he couldn’t help but have flashbacks to boot camp when the drill sergeants would almost drag them out of their bunks to start their day of training. After a few muffled curses from his cabin and a loud smack against the wall, Luke emerged from his room with his helmet a bit crooked to the right.

With his day already getting off to a rather lousy start, Luke decided to spend the rest of his time on the train looking over his gear, it honestly seemed better than spending it dwelling on the future battle or praying with the others he had noticed upon waking up. It all seemed to be a waste of time, but he obviously kept it to himself and focused on his own concerns. He gave a quick look over of his rifle, sharpened his bayonet, checked his tools and equipment, hell even snuck in enough time to clean a few buttons on his uniform before the train had finally reached its destination.

Luke felt a small smirk come to his face as the train came to a hissing stop before falling in line as the orders from his superiors echoed through the air. As his platoon began to disembark from the train he couldn’t help but noticed the tired expressions on his comrades. He wouldn’t admit it aloud, but he could do with a bit more sleep himself. After hopping down along with his unit he fell in line and stood at attention as the Captain named Middleton, someone who was apparently a bit of an ass from what he overheard from a few people, began to give their briefing. As he listened to the Captain deliver his orders, inform them of the splitting of the platoon into squads and finally the announcement of new uniforms, Luke could feel the excitement well up with his chest.

Soon the commander finished his briefing and dismissed them all to go and change into their new uniforms. Luke was a bit saddened to get rid of his original uniform as he had spent so much time making sure it was in pristine condition, but he had to admit the new uniform was rather nice looking. As he emerged from the tent with a smirk he looked himself over and to his squad. “Gotta admit, doesn’t look to bad,” he chuckled before glancing around to his team. They all looked equally as good as him, especially the few ladies within his squad. He would really need to get to know his teammates though, he had mostly spent his time with Gwyn and the other recruits on the train ride here.

After silently making it his goal to become more acquainted with his team the Corporal Jean called the squad together and began his own briefing. He drew up a quick map of the city and gave details of how they would be proceeding into city after the calvary made their charge against the Imperials. He went into even further details of how they would be using their sappers, the fighting within close quarters and even the civilians that were still within the city. With all of these orders and planning Luke could feel even more excitement in the coming battle, but there was no hiding the small ball of nervousness that formed in his stomach. He tightened his grip along his rifle and took a deep breath through his nostrils, this was it. It was time to put his training to the test! Once they had received the order to move out from Jean he did a quick check on his gear, even the rather odd mask he had been given before falling in line.

The march felt like it would last an eternity, but thankfully they all soon arrived at their destination and were in the perfect spot to get a full view of the calvary force that would be taking the Imperial lines head on. The sight was a bit of a spectacular one as Luke's eyes scanned across the massive wave of horses and soldiers, all ready to work together in breaking through the line. Soon the time had finally come and the 7th Cavaliers began their charge onto the enemies lines. The thunder of their cry for victory and the mighty rumbling of their charging steeds was truly an amazing sight that Luke would forever remember. Just as he would forever remember the carnage that would shortly follow.

The distant sharp cracks of automatic gunfire, the howls and shrieks of both men and horse in despair until finally… nothing. Luke stared in shock and confusion, not able to comprehend what had just happen until finally it all sunk in as a distant scream was silenced by a final burst of gunfire, ending it all just like that. With silent awe and terror he scanned the now corpse riddled field, not a sign of life left, only the mixture of blood, mud and flesh. Swallowing hard and gripping his chest Luke found it hard to look away as he was unable to hold back a new feeling from the excitement and nervousness slip into his heart. Fear.

“S-shit,” was all he was able to mutter aloud with a shaking voice while forcing a small smile, though it was clearly forced as it nearly faltered from his shaking. Thankfully his eyes were finally peeled away as a familiar voice called out for attention. He quickly snapped away from the horrible sight and turned around to look anywhere else but there. Finally he had noticed his hand still clutching at his chest and released his new uniform with a small gasp, not realizing until now that he had been holding his breath. Shaking his head and closing his eyes Luke took a few deep breath through his nose to calm his nerves, get his head straight and focus.

This was not the time to break down, he’s hasn’t even had his own taste of action yet for god's sake! Feeling a bit frustrated in himself he opened his eyes and shook his head clear of anymore fear before turning back to his squad, ready to get to work whenever the order came in.

With arched eyebrows Henry silently watched in awe as the strangers wound seemingly healed on its own. He kept his questions to himself, but within his head several questions flew left and right. What ability had he used? Is this Esper ability known to others and if so why hadn’t he heard of it before? As he took the napkins Henry offered and wiped away the blood on his face Henry seemed to snap out of his state of shock. As his new acquaintance made his way to the front desk he followed close behind with his right hand buried in his pocket and his bag slung over his shoulder. His stomach gave a small growl of hunger as Adrian began to make his orders and wiped away any drool from his mouth as it was finally his turn to order.

“Yeah, let me get a large with red peppers, hot sauce and pepperoni. Extra cheese and hot sauce,” he quickly finished his spicey order, the thought of taking a bite from his soon to be cooked pizza. After finishing his order he looked to Adrian and jabbed a thumb towards his apparent sister. “Wanna go grab a seat?” he asked with a grin, though his eyes gave a quick glance to the strange man who had been yelling weird things earlier before downing his coffee in one go. He was a bit of an odd one, but for some reason Henry felt as if he had seen his face before, he just couldn’t put his finger on it. He quickly shrugged it off as his hunger pulled him away and looked back to Adrian before walking towards their table.

A heavy sigh escaped Luke as he walked through the train cars, frustrated that he was having a hard time locating his new unit. Looking around he saw several of the new recruits like him getting settled in, many of them just as excited or a bit nervous like him. Though he had managed to spot a few of the veterans mixed in with his fellow recruits and could tell from the hardened looks on their faces that they were less then excited for the coming battle. As he spotted out the veterans he began to remember that most of them were from the recent battle of Hill 58, a battle that apparently made a huge blow to their numbers. A part of him wanted to ask a few questions about the battle, but he held his tongue as he knew he needed to report to his NCO. Last time he failed to report to his superiors he had to clean and empty the latrines for a week. A shiver ran up his spine at the memory and picked up the pace.

Soon though he spotted a familiar face that belonged to the smallest recruit he had ever seen in basic training. It took Luke a few seconds to remember his name since they trained in different groups, but with the snap of his fingers it came back to him. Gwyn was his name, he hoped it was his name anyway since he hated getting people's names wrong. He also just hoped he remembered him, though last time they interacted with each other he ended up spilling a full bucket water and fish heads on him. It was of course an accident, but he never got to properly apologize as his drill sergeants dragged him away for his punishment. When they were assigned their units they were assigned to the same one so it would be good to get to know him, plus he seemed to be surrounded by a few unfamiliar faces so hopefully they could help in his search for his unit.

Clearing his throat and making his way through the car he waved towards the Gwyn with his usual grin. “Oi, Gwyn!” he called out as he made his way to the small sapper, bumping into a few other recruits and earning a few growls and complaints of watching where he was going. He simply gave them an apologetic chuckle and salute before finally reaching Gwyn and the group that surrounded him. Looking down to the young sapper with his grin he patted him on the shoulder and chuckled. “Hey there mate, thank god I found ya. I’m having trouble finding our unit,” he said before looking to the more experienced looking soldiers with a smile. “Hopefully you’re all from said unit,” he said before looking at each of them with a grin.

He knew one of them was named Thomas, apparently he was a big deal within the military, but he never paid too much attention to the stories about him. No point really since he was going to become an even bigger legend than him one day. Giving him a quick nod he looked to the other soldiers and held up his papers. “You guys are from the 15th Atlantic Rifles, right? I'm part of the new wave of recruits to join the Platoon,” he said as he adjusted his rifle on his shoulder. “Names Luke Godfrey, but ya can call me whatever ya feel like,” he stated with a smile before rubbing the back of his neck with a small sigh. "Do any of you happen to be the NCO I'm to report to?"

Hayden couldn't help but chuckle as the strange man weakly spoke of windows, family and vengeance. Holding back a bit of his laughter he nodded and rose to his feet as the man picked himself up. "Well at least you can speak, kind of," he said before noticing the mans strange insect like wings sink back into his body and even questioned if he was high or not as the man seemed to gain a bit more muscle on him. "Well, this is an interesting off day," he muttered to himself before digging his hands into his pocket. He shook his head and flashed a grin as the man began to apologize. "I'll admit this was the first time I've seen a bug man kamikaze my favorite place, but honestly I've seen stranger things," he chuckled before noticing the cut on the mans chin. He didn't mention it until the stranger asked if he wanted to get a slice.

"Sure, a slice sounds good right now, but let me get ya something for that nasty cut on your chin," he said before walking in the pizza place with the stranger. He snatched a few napkins and handed them to the stranger with a chuckle. "Don't want any of that on your pizza, blood tends to spoil the taste. Names Hayden by the way, Hayden Isaak," he introduced himself with a smile, though as he handed him the napkins the doors to the kitchen were swung open and a familiar sight appeared before him and everyone in the building. "Must be the special again," he said and shuttered as he saw the ice cream sitting upon the pizza. "Yep," he said and shook his head. This place has great pizza, but some times he questions the sanity of its owner.

An impatient frown rested on Luke’s face as he sat quietly on a wooden box, repeatedly bouncing his leg up and down while rubbing his thumb across his nearly spotless rifle. Another soldier name Patrick sat across from him, his focus purely directed on his rifle as he cleaned it with care. After a few more moments of silence Luke finally broke it by speaking out. “I swear by the time our train arrives the war will have ended and there won’t be anymore action for us,” complained the young man as he gave a small sigh of annoyance before hanging his head low and ruffling his messy brown hair. The soldier rolled his eyes as he continued to clean his rifle and looked to the impatient Rifleman with a smirk.

“Ya know Luke I don’t think I’ve met a single human being that bitches as much as you do,” he chuckled with the shake of his head before turning his eyes back to his weapon. “If ya ask me I prefer just sitting here with my thumb up my ass over getting shot at by a bunch of angry Imps,” Luke scoffed and raised his head up to reveal his usual grin.

“Oh come on, getting shot at is ninety percent of the job. You just have to find the bright side in it,” he said and gained an arched eyebrow from Patrick as he looked back to him with curiosity.

“What could possibly be the bright side in getting shot at?” he asked with a small frown.

“It’ll be good cardio,” he said with an honest smile. Patrick only rolled his eyes and returned to his weapon. Luke chuckled before letting out a sigh. “Plus we’ll finally be able to put our training to the test,” he stated with eagerness in his voice, catching not only the attention of Patrick once again, but few other soldiers who were close enough to hear. “All that time, all that training, abuse and determination for one goal,” he said while holding up a single finger with a grin. “Now is the time to prove the world and ourselves that it wasn’t all wasted for nothing. We’ll show what us greenhorns are made of and send those Imp bastards running,” he declared with confidence clear in his voice. A confidence that seemed to spread to Patrick and the few that heard him as his words sunk in.

Patrick smiled slightly and gave a small nod. “I guess that’s all true, but I’m still in no rush to get shot at,” Luke shrugged and silently agreed, getting shot wasn’t exactly on his bucket list either. He would never admit it aloud, but a part of him was a bit nervous about the coming war he was about to set out upon. For some reason his thoughts drifted back home, his sisters, friends and even the small farm his family once owned. It dulled his smile slightly, knowing that he would be leaving all that behind, but he was pulled back from his thoughts by the cheers of relief and joy. He looked over to the tracks and felt his grin grow.

“About damn time,” he chuckled before rising to his feet and slinging his rifle over his shoulder. “Well Patrick, looks like it’s time to head out,” he said as he looked to the fellow Rifleman before holding out a hand. “Soon we’ll be celebrating in Amone and getting medals for our glorious victory!” Patrick chuckled and grasped his hand firmly with a nod.

“Looking forward to it,” he smiled before the two parted ways to gather their gear and ready to board the coming train. With a heavy sigh he lifted his gear onto his back, gave his rifle a quick check and head for the train with an excited pep in his step.

“Come on then lads, to glory and victory!” he declared with a wide and egar grin on his face as he took the first step onto the train towards Amone. The place where he’ll make his first mark on the world.

With a small sigh Hayden rubbed the back of his head and dreaded the night that awaited him. Whenever he's told to dispose of any thing it's always a pain in the ass that leaves a bad smell in his nose. Walking through District 15 and trying to make his way to the bus station, Hayden found it to be a bit of a hassle as some of the streets had been blocked off, forcing him to take the long way. No doubt it had something to do with the commotion from earlier. Even though they weren't gunning for him Hayden couldn't help but feel uneasy around them. There were a few times when he nearly fell into their sights after a few more than destructive jobs, but luckily he's been able to squeeze his was out of it.

As he crossed the street Hayden's phone began to vibrate. With an arched brow he took out his phone and was surprised to see that it was his handler. It wasn't odd that he'd get more than one call from him, but it was never this fast. Stopping on the outside of a convenience store he leaned against the wall and answered. "Change of plans, someone else will take care of the disposal," as he delivered the news Hayden couldn't help but close his eyes and exhale through his nose, frustration clear as he furrowed his brows.

"Then what the hell am I doing?" he questioned with annoyance in his voice.

"Watch it kid, I'm as annoyed as you are right now," he said before giving a heavy sigh and continuing. "Consider yourself free for the night, but get ready to hop back to work at any moment. Word is the Boss has something big planned. It's why he's putting all of his top men, including you believe it or not, on stand by. He rarely does things like this so you know it's bigger than usual," he stated before abruptly hanging up like usual. Hayden was even more curious of what the hell was going on, but knew he had no control over it. So silently he accepted the fact another one of his jobs were canceled today and found the small comforting fact that he actually had a night off, something that had become extremely rare ever since his decent into the underground world of crime.

Putting away his phone and giving small sigh he laid his head against the convenience stores wall. A whole night off? It had been so long that he's not entirely sure what to do. After taking a moment to think he came to the realization that it had been awhile since he had his favorite pizza. After looking around he knew he was close and decided to head there instead of ordering. Might as well since he had plenty of time to kill now. With his new goal he moved on from the convenience store and navigated his way through the cities streets before finally arriving. Zero Degrees Lounge. Hayden never was a fan of the name, but he had to admit the pizza was unique. With a pleasant sigh he began to make his way towards the front doors, ready to enjoy his food.

That is until a blur slams into window of the pizza place and caused Hayden to jump in shock, even letting out a shout of surprise that was a bit to high pitched for his liking. After he quickly got over the complete shock of whatever the hell hit the window he looked to the object in question and arched a brow in confusion. Laying on the ground with what looked like wings spread out was an odd looking guy. Not sure what to say he slowly knelt down next to him and cocked his head. "Hey, uh, you okay?" he asked before looking to the window and back to him. "You have a score to settle with that window or something?" he asked with a small smirk.
