Kaori sighed in relief at things being mostly back to normal, then took another large sip of her sake. "No better time to be in than the present, I guess... So Yomi, I caught a few glimpses of what you pulled off back when we rescued Lady Kasumi. What.. was that? It's like you lost it..." she mentioned.

"Officer Sarah Turner, Sarge. A pleasure. I'm sure we'll get along fine, ...because I really don't wanna get a bullet in me on my first day. My attention is yours~" Sarah laughed along nervously. They were going into a gun fight! There were quite a few cars with them though, at least they could intimdate any suspects with sheer numbers. Every officer carried a handgun, and most of them knew their way around guns very well seeing as this city was so violent. It almost made Sarah feel bad for the poor criminals. What would the looks on their faces be like when the boys (-and girl-) in blue show up and block their escape routes?

"Yeah, it's like you're getting the opposite effect. Kinda weird." Kaori agreed as she tapped Yomi's drink with her own. After taking a large sip she set it down and tilted her head in curiosity at her partner, "So, Edo. We staying or going? I don't mind either way, as long as you're happy with it," she admitted.

"Waitwaitwaitwaitwait!" A hurried voice sounded from behind the car as the newest addition to the force flung the door open and dropped into the passenger seat. From the looks of things the rookie wasn't even in full uniform yet, still had sneakers on and was missing her jacket. The whole 'look smart on your first day' idea went straight out the window as soon as she heard the call over one of the station radios, especially after noticing her mentor was about to race off without her! Day one and there was already something big happening... She'd never forgive herself if she missed out. How rare would something like this even be?

"Go for it, I'm in," Sarah told Sam.

"Hey pal, you don't get to raise your voice to me..." A more familiar sounding growl threatened Yomi from behind. Lazily as usual, she sat down beside him while brushing her face with a torn-off piece of kimono. Kaori was back, no tied-up hair or formal dress, and she had that typical lack of politeness. "Yeah... I figured you wouldn't go all princey in the end, but I like my head attached to the rest of my body. Had to be sure first," she chuckled. Yomi didn't look very amused by this whole situation, but that wouldn't stop his only real friend from being there beside him. Shogun's kid or no, Yomi seemed like he would always be Yomi, simple as...

After Kaori finished fashioning on her usual oddly-cut kimono, she offered her partner a friendly fist bump. "Smile for me already, ya' idiot..."

Kaori obediently stood just behind Yomi, staring at the floor and visibly trembling at the horrid truth. This pickpocket she met back in Shizukesa was the Shogun's most important relative - his son! She called him an idiot too many times to count, yet she was still breathing. Obviously Yomi had no conception of what his status meant, and how badly he could punish his partner for her behaviour. Unfortunately the real scenario didn't cross Kaori's mind at all; Yomi was still himself right now, and wouldn't he always be?

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry~" Her mouse-like voice whispered.
